Christina Morales, Jarvis Johnson, Amanda Edwards, Letitia Plummer, and Dwight Boykins Deserve a Fair Shot

All of the candidates pictured above would make a far better U.S. Representative for the 18th Congressional District than former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (top center), a low-down, dirty, filthy, pathological liar who is as corrupt as they come. TRANSPARENT PROCESS... Former City Councilwoman Amanda Edwards (bottom left), City Councilwoman Letitia Plummer (bottom center), former Councilman Dwight Boykins (bottom right), State Rep. Jarvis Johnson (top right), and State Rep. Christina Morales (top left) deserve a fair and square shot of winning the nomination, without having to fear that HCDP Democratic Precinct Chairs have been influenced with monetary benefits to cast their vote for Sylvester Turner on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Therefore, if you have any evidence of bribes or other wrongdoing, please call "COMPANY 'A'" at the Texas Rangers Office and ask for a Texas Ranger named Daron Parker. The number to call is (281)571-1400 if you have evidence of anyone taking bribes or wrongdoing.

“BRIBERY STATUTE.”

Section 36.02 - Bribery (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly offers, confers, or agrees to confer on another, or solicits, accepts, or agrees to accept from another:

(1) any benefit as consideration for the recipient’s decision, opinion, recommendation, vote, or other exercise of discretion as a public servant, party official, or voter;

(2) any benefit as consideration for the recipient’s decision, vote, recommendation, or other exercise of official discretion in a judicial or administrative proceeding;

(3) any benefit as consideration for a violation of a duty imposed by law on a public servant or party official; or

(4) any benefit that is a political contribution as defined by Title 15, Election Code, or that is an expenditure made and reported in accordance with Chapter 305, Government Code, if the benefit was offered, conferred, solicited, accepted, or agreed to pursuant to an express agreement to take or withhold a specific exercise of official discretion if such exercise of official discretion would not have been taken or withheld but for the benefit; notwithstanding any rule of evidence or jury instruction allowing factual inferences in the absence of certain evidence, direct evidence of the express agreement shall be required in any prosecution under this subdivision.

“The coveted 18th Congressional District is 43.4% Latino and only 32.2% Black. Over the last decade, this traditionally Black Democratic voting stronghold has slowly turned into a majority Hispanic area right before our eyes. Below, you can view the list of the HCDP Chairs who will select the Democratic nominee to replace Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on the forthcoming Tuesday, November 5, 2024, ballot in the race for the 18th Congressional District of Texas.”

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "Early voting will begin on Monday, October 21, 2024, and end on Friday, November 1, 2024, for the upcoming Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Presidential Election. It is incumbent upon us to make it our business to select the best candidate available in every down-ballot race."

Christina Morales, Jarvis Johnson, Amanda Edwards, Letitia Plummer, and Dwight Boykins Deserve a Fair Shot

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Instead of calling me about Commissioner Rodney Ellis and others allegedly buying the support of local Harris County Democratic Party Precinct Chairs, the man concerned citizens should call is Daron Parker, the Texas Ranger “COMPANY ‘A’” whose phone number is (281)571-1400.

If you see or hear of any wrongdoing connected to the August 13, 2024 vote, call (281)517-1400 and ask for a Texas Ranger named Daron Parker – that’s my suggestion.

Harris County Precinct Chairs are “ELECTED OFFICIALS” just like every other “ELECTED OFFICIAL” in Harris County, Texas. Therefore, HCDP Precinct Chairs should be made aware of SECTION 36.02 of the Texas Penal Code before casting their votes to select a nominee to replace the Honorable Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on the forthcoming Tuesday, November 5, 2024, General Election ballot.

“BRIBERY STATUTE.”

Section 36.02 - Bribery (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly offers, confers, or agrees to confer on another, or solicits, accepts, or agrees to accept from another:

(1) any benefit as consideration for the recipient’s decision, opinion, recommendation, vote, or other exercise of discretion as a public servant, party official, or voter;

(2) any benefit as consideration for the recipient’s decision, vote, recommendation, or other exercise of official discretion in a judicial or administrative proceeding;

“NOT TOO LATE.”

Sylvester Turner must not win this nomination. It isn’t too late to stop Sylvester Turner from winning the nomination to place his name on the November 5, 2024, ballot as the Democratic nominee for the 18th Congressional District. However, it is going to take some teamwork, cooperation, maneuvering, and trust on the part of former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, former Councilman Dwight Boykins, Councilwoman Letitia Plummer, State Rep. Christina Morales, and State Rep. Jarvis Johnson to beat former Mayor Sylvester Turner.

What local “BLACK LEADERS” had better understand is that the time has come to pass the torch.

Listen. We must develop new multi-racial coalitions. The writing is on the wall in Harris County, Texas – and the “SO-CALLED BLACK LEADERS” pushing Sylvester Turner don’t even realize the magnitude of what they’re potentially about to do by pushing Turner’s candidacy.

It’s preposterous that any “BLACK ELECTED LEADER” would think that a visibly “SICKLY MAN” like former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, who admitted to having cancer in 2022, is the appropriate replacement for the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who just passed away after a very short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Who came up with the idea?

The late Honorable Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee underwent treatment for cancer back in 2011 and then died of cancer in 2024. Why would local “BLACK ELECTED LEADERS” want to replace her with a “VISIBLY SICK” Sylvester Turner, who appears to be deteriorating at a fast pace from his physical appearance?

Why? What’s wrong with these “BLACK ELECTED OFFICIALS” who are pushing “SLY” as a potential nominee? Commissioner Rodney Ellis, State Rep. Senfronia Thompson, State Rep. Harold Dutton, State Rep. Alma Allen, State Rep. Jolanda Jones, former State Garnett Coleman, City Councilwoman Carolyn Evans Shabazz, Councilwoman Tiffany D. Thomas, City Controller Chris Hollins, and County Attorney Christian Menefee should all be ashamed of themselves.

I like a few of the “ELECTED OFFICIALS” I’ve just mentioned. Still, I vehemently disapprove of them endorsing “CORRUPT A$$” Sylvester Turner as a viable candidate to take over the reins of the 18th Congressional District of Texas – that’s not a good idea!

“TOP CONTENDERS.”

The top candidates vying to replace Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee to serve as the 18th Congressional District nominee are former City Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, former City Councilman Dwight Boykins, State Rep. Jarvis Johnson, City Councilwoman Letitia Plummer, and former City of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, and State Rep. Christina Morales, who could be the dark horse in the race for the nomination.

I’m labeling Christina Morales as the dark horse in the race because, if she faced off against corrupt A$$ Sylvester Turner in the final round, I believed she could beat him out for the nomination—if the African American candidates vying for the coveted nomination are courageous enough to put her ethnicity aside and vote for the best candidate available.

Sylvester Turner is by far the worst candidate seeking the nomination. I am dumbfounded that Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and other local elected officials have endorsed Turner—someone whom they know ran a corrupt administration.

From members of his administration getting sent to federal prison for bribery to his department heads allegedly stealing over $400,000.00 in public funds, to alleged bid-rigging in the Pappas Airport Concessions contract, to allegedly having a love affair with an intern, to lining the pockets of his former law partner; to steering contracts toward his alleged lovers from the 1990s – Sylvester Turner has been bad news for decades.

And now, according to published news reports, Sylvester Turner expects the public to believe that if the Precinct Chairs nominate him for the 18th Congressional District seat and place him on the ballot. If he wins, he will only stay in Washington, D.C., for two years.

“Maximum, I would say, two (terms)," he told KHOU 11’s Len Cannon in an exclusive interview held a few days ago after Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s funeral.

“TRUTH BE TOLD.”

Do you want to know the truth? The 18th Congressional District lines are redrawn. In two years, African Americans may not even be able to win an open race for the historically African American “VOTING BLOCK” once held by the late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, the late Congressman Mickey Leland, Congressman Craig Washington, and the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

How can I make this claim?

It would help if you remembered that Texas’s demographics rapidly change daily. That said, the demographics of the 18th Congressional District of Texas have slowly trended Latino over the last decade.

The 18th Congressional District of Texas is 43.4% Latino and only 32.2% Black. And when you factor in Whites, who make up 16.7% of the district that was once predominantly African American, it isn’t difficult to see that a good Latina candidate may be able to claim this coveted seat outright within one of two election cycles if they play their cards right.

Asians comprise about 4.9% of the 18th Congressional District's population, which could make them key players going forward now that Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has transitioned to the afterlife.

I gathered the above-referenced data from the Cook Partisan Voting Index, abbreviated PVI or CPVI. This Index measures how partisan [1] a United States congressional district or state is. This partisanship[2] is indicated as leaning towards either the Republican Party or the Democratic Party, compared to the nation as a whole, based on how that district or state voted in the previous two presidential elections.

“SPECIAL ELECTION.”

Governor Greg Abbott threw a monkey wrench in everything last Friday when he ordered a “SPECIAL ELECTION” to be placed on the upcoming Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Presidential Election ballot in Harris County, Texas.

From what I understand, candidates who wish to appear on the ballot in the forthcoming “SPECIAL ELECTION” for the 18th Congressional District seat race to fill out the remainder of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s unfinished term must send their application to the Texas Secretary of State by August 22, 2024. However, candidates cannot have their names placed on the ballot for both ballot positions.

I understand that former Mayor Sylvester Turner has a bunch of local “ELECTED OFFICIALS” endorsing him as the best candidate to replace the Honorable Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on the upcoming Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the race for the 18th Congressional District to face off against Lana Centonze, the Republican and Ed Atkinson, who is a member of the Veteran’s Party.

Vince Duncan will be on the ballot as an independent. He told me via phone that he has turned his petition signatures over to state officials and is currently awaiting approval to have his name placed on the ballot for Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

The Harris County Democratic Party has announced that HCDP Precinct Chairs who reside inside the boundaries of the 18th Congressional District will convene on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, to nominate a replacement for the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on the forthcoming Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Presidential Election ballot in the race for the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

“CLOSING THOUGHTS.”

If you know any HCDP Precinct Chairs who can vote, please call them before Tuesday, August 13, 2024, and tell them that former Mayor Sylvester Turner is a no-go. Remind the HCDP Precinct Chairs that “SLY” is not cut from the same cloth as the late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, late Congressman Mickey Leland, Congressman Craig Washington, and the late Honorable Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

Dan Simons will run for Harris County District Attorney against Sean Teare on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in what is expected to be an extremely close race.

“MEET DAN SIMONS.”

Dan Simons was born and raised in Southeast Texas. His family was impoverished and lived through the struggle of poverty. During his childhood, there were times when he was homeless and had no choice but to live in cars or tents to survive. Dan constantly faced problems and chaos in his family, ultimately being placed in foster care at a young age. He has four brothers and one sister, none of whom ever graduated high school, much like his parents.

At twelve, seeking stability to graduate high school, he made the tough decision to move in with a family he met through the Salvation Army. Through sheer determination and hard work, he graduated at the top of his class and was named All-District Quarterback in his senior high school. Dan became the first person in his family to graduate from high school.

After graduating high school in 1996, he joined the United States Air Force to serve his country.

In 2005, he moved back to Texas, intending to further his education and become a lawyer. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2008 at the top of his class. He went on to attend the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, graduating Magna Cum Laude in December of 2011. He received his Masters in Tax Law from the University of Houston in 2013.

As Assistant District Attorney, Dan handled thousands of cases. He tried 29 Misdemeanor Jury Trials and had five acquittals; 13 Felony Jury Trials and had only one acquittal; and 26 Justice of the Peace Court and Jury Trials. Dan's total conviction rate was 84%.

As a Misdemeanor Chief in Criminal Court No. 14, Dan Simons reduced the docket by over 200 cases in less than four months — a 20% reduction that reduced the court's burden and saved the county costs. In early 2017, he left the DA’s Office to work in private practice.

In 2018, he started his practice, Dan Simons Law Firm, focusing on criminal cases in Harris County, Fort Bend County, and Montgomery County, Texas.

“THE RIGHT MAN.”

Harris County has enough politicians. We need a Harris County District Attorney who isn’t afraid of political party bosses. We need a truth-seeking prosecutor – not a politician.

We need someone committed to restoring public safety, trust, and peace of mind in Harris County, Texas; Dan Simons is the right man for the job.

We need a Harris County DA who will protect the people, respect them, and give victims the justice they deserve; Dan Simons fits the bill, in my opinion.

Dan Simons is committed to ensuring that business owners receive equal protection under the law, enabling local communities to thrive rather than merely survive.

We’ve got some innocent citizens getting charged and convicted of crimes they may not have committed. With an honest man like Dan Simons as the Harris County District Attorney, wrongful convictions will decrease significantly, while lawbreakers can expect to receive the punishment they deserve.

Moreover, we can’t do anything about the past, but with Dan Simons as our District Attorney, addressing mistakes expeditiously rather than hiding them – could serve as a much-needed foundation to rebuild trust in our criminal justice system.
