State Rep. Jarvis Johnson, State Rep. Christina Morales, Councilwoman Letitia Plummer, and former Councilwoman Edwards

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

As of yesterday, former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner did not have enough votes to win the Democratic nomination in the race for the 18th Congressional District of Texas on the first ballot without a runoff tonight.

I’ve been telling everyone who would listen that rumors swirling around Harris County, Texas, alluding to former Mayor Sylvester Turner having 60 of the 88 precinct chairs on his side was a blatant lie and an attempt to dissuade the other qualified hopefuls from seeking the nomination.

I’m not sure what type of maneuvering transpired overnight, but “SLY” was well short of the 45 votes he needed to win the nomination without a runoff.

The Harris County Democratic Party Precinct Chairs for the 18th Congressional District will meet tonight at 6:00 p.m. at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, 3826 Wheeler Avenue, Houston, Texas 77004, to decide which candidate is the best choice to face off against Lana Centonze, the Republican nominee, and Ed Atkinson, who belongs to the Veteran’s Party.

With the 18th Congressional District being solidly Democrat, it is presumed that the Democratic nominee will dominate Centonze and Atkinson on Tuesday, November 5, 2024—but not so fast.

The HCDP Precinct chairs must choose a suitable nominee tonight. Choosing a nominee like Sylvester Turner, whom everyone knows is corrupt, could end in disaster on Election Day.

Sylvester Turner is visibly sick – he’s not well right now.

Why would anyone in their right mind want to put the people of the 18th Congressional District through the grieving process all over again? It is fathomable to me.

What we’re witnessing in real time is full-blown selfishness. Sylvester Turner is selfish—from what I can see, he didn’t love Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, nor did he love the people of the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

Sylvester Turner has never cared about anyone but himself. And many other “ELECTED OFFICIALS” pushing his candidacy to become the nominee are just as selfish as Turner.

Even if Turner is successful tonight, this type of buffoonery must end.

“TOP CONTENDERS.”

Former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, State Rep. Jarvis Johnson, and State Rep. Christina Morales are a few of the “TOP CONTENDERS” seeking the nomination tonight.

Mayor Sylvester Turner is the worst candidate seeking the nomination and isn’t fit to serve as “DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE” for the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

Sylvester Turner is corrupt and will eventually become one of the worst mayors in American history. I cannot fathom calling Sylvester Turner a United States Congressman. Still, if nominated tonight, we will all have to acknowledge him if he goes on to victory on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the race for the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

“WORKABLE PLAYBOOK.”

With Sylvester Turner only having 30 of the 88 precinct chairs endorsing him, he’s well short of the 45 precinct chairs he would need to win the nomination outright tonight if all 88 precinct chairs cast votes. That said, a little teamwork on the part of the other candidates could dismantle the plot behind trying to hand-deliver control of the coveted 18th Congressional District to a man who isn’t worthy.

As it stands right now, Sylvester Turner only has 30 of the precinct chairs – right? According to Jasper Scherer, a reporter for the Texas Tribune, the “HCDP PRECINCT CHAIRS” listed below are with Turner.

To defeat Sylvester Turner tonight, State Rep. Jarvis Johnson, State Rep. Christina Morales, Councilwoman Letitia Plummer, former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards and any other candidates who earn a nomination in the first round would need to stick together in the “RUNOFF ROUND”; otherwise, Turner will win the nomination to appear on the forthcoming Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Democratic Party Primary ballot in the race for the 18th Congressional District.
