Some Key Democrats Like Judge Nikita Harmon, and Judge Kirkland Must Face Primary Opponents in 2020 to Remain on the Bench

Here are a few Democratic Judges who are running for re-election in Harris County, Texas you should get to know between now and next fall. Judge Ramona Franklin (left) presides over the 338th Criminal District Court, Judge Steven Kirkland (second from left) presides over the 334th Criminal District Court, Judge Hazel B. Jones (third from left) presides over the 174th Criminal District Court, and Judge Nikita “Niki” Harmon (far right) presides over the 176th Criminal District Court. In case you don't know, Judge Franklin and Judge Jones did not draw a challenge to their 2020 re-election bids for their respective courts. However, Judge Kirkland and Judge Harmon weren't so lucky. Both, Judge Steven Kirkland, and Judge Nikita "Niki" Harmon will have to win their Tuesday, March 3, 2020, Democratic Party battles to hold on to their respective benches. Early voting will begin on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, and end on Friday, February 28, 2019.

Some Harris County Judges Will Have to fight Off Inner-Party Challenges on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, to Remain on the Bench, Others Will Not

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

As the 2020 Primary Election creeps closer, I would like to let you know that Judge Ramona Franklin and Judge Hazel B. Jones did not receive challenges to their 2020 bid for re-election from a fellow Democrat. However, Judge Steven Kirkland has a fellow Democrat by the name of Dawn Deshea Rogers challenging his bid for re-election. And yes, Judge Nikita “Niki” Harmon, unfortunately, has a fellow Democrat challenging her bid for re-election as well on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Plan to update this weekend to include all of the key Tuesday, March 3, 2020, Democratic Party matchups you should know about. And don't forget, that it is imperative that the Democratic Party puts forth the most diverse field of candidates possible to ensure success when they face off against the Republicans next fall.
