Houstonians Must Elect a Mayor Who Can Shake Things Up on November 7, 2023; Gilbert Garcia is Running for Mayor

Do you believe that state Senator John Whitmire or businessman Gilbert Garcia have the courage it would take to launch a full investigation into what occurred last week with Pappas Restaurants Inc., getting screwed and kicked out of their 10-year food and beverage contract at Houston Hobby Airport? What our investigative team just uncovered is a damning "DATELINE" of what appears to be a full-fledged "PAY-TO-PLAY SCHEME" that appears to have played out over the course of the last three-and-a-half years, culminating with an 11-6 vote to award a $470 million food and beverage contract to a company with strong bonds to several people with "DEEP TIES" to Mayor Sylvester Turner. You can "CLICK HERE" to read, "Mayor Sylvester Turner has deep ties to people on $470m Hobby deal," which was published in the Houston Chronicle.

Attorney Darryl Carter (right) is a man who has been lurking around Houston City Hall for several decades. And he's also a man who has been credited with knowing the deepest darkest secret about Mayor Sylvester Turner's exploits that he would never want the public to know. If you look at "THE DATELINE" below, and then factor in the knowledge that the awarding of the $470 million food and beverage contract played out over a period of about 3 1/2 year period, the "THE DATELINE" of the donations being given to Mayor Turner, and the (10) ten council members who selected Areas looks more like a "PAY-TO-PLAY SCHEME" than anything else. You can "CLICK HERE" to learn more about Sylvester Turner and his exploits.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "I'm not sure if Mayor Sylvester Turner and attorney Michael Harris are still engaging in the sexual relationship that Cheryl Gillum Turner alleged that they were having in "THE AFFIDAVIT" she signed back during their divorce proceeding from the 1990s, at this time. However, the circumstances centered around the $470 million food and beverage contract have caused me to wonder, if there's a connection that my investigative team should be looking into."

Houstonians Must Elect a Mayor Who Can Shake Things Up on November 7, 2023; Gilbert Garcia is Running for Mayor

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS

When you factor in the $27,000 that was concealed, and possibly laundered in connection with Houston City Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas (District F), my investigative team has already uncovered a combined preliminary total of more than $112,533 that has been directly given to Mayor Sylvester Turner, and the (10) ten city council members who voted against Pappas Restaurants Inc., and awarded that $470 million concessions contract to Areas last week.

Now we have a mayoral race!!! In case you haven’t heard, Gilbert Garcia, a successful businessman, and former Metro chairman finally announced his bid to become CEO of the City of Houston last Friday.

Nope! Gilbert Garcia isn’t entering the race too late. And no, he’s not chasing state Senator John Whitmire, who many pundits believe is the prohibitive favorite at the moment.

If you ask me, I believe that Gilbert Garcia could be co-equals with Whitmire, in many regards. However, former Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins, former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, and attorney Lee Kaplan are also in the mix.

The contrast between state Senator Whitmire and Gilbert Garcia is stark, and Houstonians will have a serious decision to make when early voting begins. Whitmire is a long-time politician, and Garcia is a highly-successful entrepreneur, with a no-nonsense approach when it comes to money matters.

While the filing period won’t officially open until Saturday, July 22, 2023, and close at 5:00 p.m., on Monday, August 21, 2023, with the addition of Gilbert Garcia joining the field, we now have a Latino in the race who has a real shot at making history by becoming “THE FIRST HISPANIC MAYOR” of Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, when the general election is scheduled to take place.

The only real question now, is do we want another career politician in the mold of Mayor Sylvester Turner, or do we want a business-minded person who can help the City of Houston navigate around the fiscal cliff that lies ahead, that former Mayor Annise Parker has warned everyone about already?

Signaling that he’s going to bring change, by shaking things up, was a brilliant move by Gilbert Garcia, when he announced his entry into the already crowded field of mayoral contenders. “The city’s corner office needs a business mindset,” said Garcia in a published report. But the city of Houston also needs a mayor every Houstonian can be proud to call their own, in my opinion.

No matter how you look at it, Mayor Sylvester Turner has been mired in corruption for most of his adult life. And on top of that, he’s lied, lied some more, and doubled down on lie after lie since taking office. And it’s time for a “STRAIGHT SHOOTER” like Gilbert Garcia, or someone else to get a shot.

I agree with Reneé Cross, the senior executive director at the University of Houston’s Hobby School of Affairs, who stated that Gilbert Garcia is a credible candidate. “He’s well-liked on both sides of the aisle,” she was credited with stating last Friday, by the Houston Chronicle.

Yes, I can see people of all political persuasions getting on board with a Gilbert Garcia for Mayor Campaign. Especially, since he’s pledging to shake things up.

And boy-oh-boy, do we need someone who isn’t aligned with Mayor Sylvester Turner, who appears to believe that Houstonians are stupid, blind, and crazy – all at the same time.

Anyone with half a brain, eyes, and the ability to reason for themselves should be able to look at “THE DATELINE” and see that what happened to Chris and Harris Pappas, last week should be fully investigated by the next Mayor.

For the record, attorney Darryl Carter, attorney Michael Harris, and Hellen Giddings aren’t just close friends of Mayor Sylvester Turner, like many local media outlets are portraying them to be right now.

Attorney Michael Harris and attorney Darryl Carter are both former employees of Mayor Sylvester Turner’s law firm. And on top of that, Darryl Carter, according to Mayor Turner’s ex-wife, is a man who knows Mayor Sylvester Turner’s deepest darkest secrets.

As for attorney Michael Harris, he’s Mayor Sylvester Turner’s ‘alleged’ lover, according to “THE AFFIDAVIT” which was signed under penalty of perjury by Mayor Sylvester Turner’s ex-wife back in the day. And so, what we have with these two attorneys is a situation where Mayor Sylvester Turner could be compromised, during his final days in office.

Mayor Sylvester Turner has been running away from his demons for almost all of his adult life. He lived most of his adult life, in the closet so to speak. And I believe that the fear of having photos surface, from the days when he was having sexual orgies surface has haunted him, and has given people like his ‘alleged’ former lover (Attorney Michael Harris), and the man who ‘allegedly’ knows his deepest darkest secrets too much power.

"The truth shall set you free Mayor Sylvester Turner."

It’s hard for a lot of people to believe, but Mayor Sylvester Turner is a deeply disturbed man, with deep dark secrets that have haunted him for nearly all of his life. “I also am aware of certain unprofessional acts of Sylvester about approaching people and inviting them to sexual orgies,” explained his ex-wife, in her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” of facts.

On (PAGE 5) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” his ex-wife went on to name names, stating, “Also, I have heard comments made about Don Aaron, Darryl Carter, Dwight Thomas and others relating to sexual involvement with Sylvester.

“There have been suggestions made to me personally by Carter that he had control of Sylvester because Carter knows Sylvester’s “deepest, darkest secrets,” she explained.

“Those allegations can be substantiated because Sylvester secured a loan from Bank Plus and paid cash for a 1991 Explorer for Darryl Carter,” she said. “Carter is also employed by Sylvester and I suspect that Sylvester is also paying part of Carter’s tuition, if not all, to attend the University of Houston Law School,” she said on (PAGE 5) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” of facts.

Another powerful Black businessman who has turned his life around with the help of Sylvester Turner is Thomas Jones, who served as Sylvester Turner’s campaign manager back during the 1990s. And has made a very good living off of his connections to Mayor Turner. “Carter and Thomas Jones, who is Sylvester’s campaign manager, had a disagreement and Jones fired Carter,” explained Sylvester’s ex-wife.

When Sylvester Turner confronted Jones about firing Darryl Carter, according to Cheryl Gillum Turner, her husband rehired Darryl Carter, and place him inside his law firm. “Carter informed me that he has the receipt of Jones’ drug rehabilitation program and he has a copy of the police investigation into Jones transporting drugs,” she explained.

“I also have heard that Don Aaron is a photography buff and has implied that he has unbecoming photographs of Sylvester,” Cheryl Gillum Turner on (PAGE 6) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” of facts.

And as for attorney Michael Harris, as I said, he was also employed by Mayor Sylvester Turner’s law firm, back during the days when he was ‘alleged’ to be Mayor Turner’s lover.

“SCREWING PAPPAS.”

Chris Pappas and his family just go screwed out of their contract, in what appears to be a 3-years long ordeal, that involved schmoozing, lobbying, and God only knows whatever else.

During my investigative team’s initial inquiry into how Pappas got screwed out of their contract last week, we discovered that back on 9/26/2019 – Harris Pappas, the co-founder of Pappas Restaurants Incorporated gave Mayor Sylvester Turner $5,000, and on the same day, someone by the name of Maria Pappas who was listed as a homemaker also gave Mayor Sylvester Turner $5,000 as a direct donation.

While my investigation is just getting started, my investigative team has already uncovered that between Mayor Sylvester Turner and the (10) ten councilmembers who joined forces with him, in the 11-6 vote, to screw over Pappas, on March 8, 2023, they’ve all been on the take.

Attorney Darryl Carter, attorney Michael Harris, and Hellen Giddings according to the “CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS” belonging to Mayor Sylvester Turner and the (10) ten council members who joined forces with him to screw over Pappas appear to have been playing a serious game of “PAY TO PLAY POLITICS” at Houston City Hall.

If you ask me, Mayor Sylvester Turner could be a lost cause, but several of the council members who were involved in what’s appearing to look like a big “PAY TO PLAY SCHEME” are the ones who could suffer some serious repercussions as they seek reelection.

Mayor Sylvester Turner is term-limited and cannot run for reelection on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the race for Mayor of Houston, Texas. This being the case, there’s not much we can do to punish Mayor Sylvester Turner for his mistreatment of the Pappas Family. However, a full investigation is being launched into the money collected by Council Member Letitia Plummer (At-Large Position #1), Councilmember Carolyn Evans-Shabazz (District D), Councilmember Tiffany Thomas (District F), Councilmember Tarsha Jackson (District B), Councilmember Abbie Kamin (District C), Councilmember Ed Pollard (District J), and Councilmember Martha Castex-Tatum (District K), by Aubrey R. Taylor Communications, that should be wrapped up before Election Day.

“PAYING TO PLAY.”

According to Chris Pappas, “The panels currently selected are all airport employees, and there are only five of them,” said Chris Pappas, in a KTRK Channel 13 report. “That’s a pretty small group,” said Pappas.

While Pappas hasn’t filed a formal protest over what just played out, he may be on to something as it relates to the unusually long procurement process of nearly 3 and half years, that just played out.

From what I understand, the city began the process of seeking new vendors for the Hobby concessions way back in 2019, but that effort got sidetracked due to the COVID-19, pandemic. Then according to published reports, the city attempted the process again in December of 2021, but canceled it in the fall of 2022, because the scoring was too close, or something to that effect.

Then, in October 2022, a third round of the procurement process was launched with some sort of expedited timeline. “Areas did finish first or second until the third, final request for proposals,” says Michael Kubosh, the At-Large Position #3 councilman who voted against giving the contract to Areas.

What you have to remember about this more than 3 ½ year process is that council members actually saw, and were able to review the procurement rankings, but were supposedly not allowed to take pictures. What a bunch of crap!!!

LAUNDERING MONEY?

As it relates to Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas, the Houston City Council District F council member, it appears that my investigative team has uncovered another case of “MONEY LAUNDERING” in Harris County, Texas.

If you remember, the Texas Ethics Commission, clearly stated that Terrence Shanks, who was acting as the president of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats (Harris County Chapter), and Dr. Darnella Wilkerson, were involved in “MONEY LAUNDERING” in their stern rebuke of the pair.

The Texas Ethics Commission has fined Terrence Shanks, $27,500, for his part, and a fine of $17,500 has been levied against Dr. Darnella Wilkerson, and time is running out before Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, will be forced to step in if they don’t pay up.

Now, concerning the $470 million food and beverage contract that Pappas Restaurants Inc., got screwed out of, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas, appears to have concealed the origins of over $27,000 she deposited directly into her campaign bank account during the 3 ½ year procurement process.

In case you don’t know, “MONEY LAUNDERING” by definition, is the concealment of the origins of illegally obtained money, typically through transfers involving foreign banks or legitimate businesses. That being said, what Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas has done is illegal.

Councilwoman Tiffany D. Thomas could be just as crooked as Mayor Sylvester Turner. First, she took an illegal campaign contribution from Darryl Carter, during a time when she should not have been talking to vendors. And on top of that, Darryl Carter hosted a fundraiser for her campaign and wrote her a check for $5,000 that she had to give back to him.

On July 5, 2022, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas received a $5,000 check from attorney Darryl B. Carter, who also acts as a lobbyist.

On August 14, 2022, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas gave the entire $5,000 back to attorney Darryl B. Carter that she had received from him at the illegal fundraiser he had hosted for her campaign.

Both of the aforementioned transactions can be found on Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas’s “CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORT” that’s dated 1/17/2023 and was filed under penalty of perjury.

On February 1, 2022, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas received a check from Thomas Jones, a strong ally of Mayor Sylvester Turner’s, who was mentioned in “THE AFFIDAVIT” that was signed off on by Mayor Sylvester Turner’s wife at the time (Cheryl Gillum Turner), under penalty of perjury.

“DIRTY COUNCILWOMAN.”

An investigation has been opened into the more than $27,000 cash donations that were “IMPROPERLY REPORTED” on by Tiffany Thomas “CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS” between July 31, 2019, and December 16, 2019, during the period in which she was running for the vacant Houston City Council District F seat against Jesus Zachary Zamora, G. “John” Nguyen, Richard Nguyen, Anthony Nelson, Van Huynh, and Adekunle “Kay” Elegbede, a write-in candidate back on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, in the general election.

Tiffany Thomas, finished first in the Tuesday, November 8, 2019, general election, but since no candidate received a majority (50+1%) of the vote, she and the second-place finisher, Van Huynh, had to face off on a Saturday, December 14, 2019, runoff election, which Thomas won by garnering 4,519 votes, for 55.96% of the vote. Comparatively speaking, Van Huynh received 3,556 votes, for 44.04% of the vote.

On July 31, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a substantial “CASH DEPOSIT” inter her campaign account for $3,775.00 and did not detail where she obtained the money.

On August 15, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a substantial “CASH DEPOSIT” inter her campaign account for $2,575.00 and did not detail where she obtained the money.

On September 3, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a substantial “CASH DEPOSIT” inter her campaign account for $3,270.00 and did not detail where she obtained the money.

Attorney Michael Harris was alleged to be having a "SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP" with Sylvester Turner back during the 1990s. Mayor Sylvester Turner's wife at the time, Cheryl Gillum Turner, revealed her suspicions about Michael and Sylvester inside the "THE AFFIDAVIT" she signed back on November 13, 1991, under penalty of perjury. Mayor Sylvester Turner is term-limited and cannot run for reelection on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the City of Houston Mayoral Election. The bid process and voting on the $470 million dollar food and beverage contract should be fully investigated. “THE DARK SIDE.”

Believe it or not, Mayor Sylvester Turner is a deeply disturbed human being, with deep dark secrets that he’s been protecting for decades. “I also am aware of certain unprofessional acts of Sylvester about approaching people and inviting them to sexual orgies,” explained Cheryl Gillum Turner, in her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” of facts.

On (PAGE 5) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” Cheryl went on to name names, stating, “Also, I have heard comments made about Don Aaron, Darryl Carter, Dwight Thomas and others relating to sexual involvement with Sylvester.

“In fact, there have been suggestions made to me personally by Carter that he had control of Sylvester because Carter knows Sylvester’s “deepest, darkest secrets,” she explained.

“Those allegations can be substantiated because Sylvester secured a loan from Bank Plus and paid cash for a 1991 Explorer for Darryl Carter,” according to Cheryl Gillum Turner.

“Carter and Thomas Jones, who is Sylvester’s campaign manager, had a disagreement and Jones fired Carter,” explained Sylvester’s wife.

“FEARFUL OF SYLVESTER.”

On (PAGE 8) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” Cheryl Gillum Turner expressed her fears about Sylvester Turner and how he might try to destroy her life. “I suspect that Sylvester has some type of master plan in which he plans to divorce me, gain custody of my daughter, and public destroy me,” she explained.

“As I have attempted to participate in this campaign, Sylvester has been instrumental in making sure that I am not publicly seen, nor actively participate in different activities concerning the campaign,” she said, speaking of his failed bid to become Mayor of Houston, back in November of 1991.
