Early voting Up Dramatically in Kingwood; Down a Little in Black Areas like Acres Homes; TSU, PVU Northwest, and Kashmere on First Day

Tony Buzbee voted early at the Kingwood Community Center at 9:00am on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. And get this, the first-day in-person early voting total at the Kingwood Community Center showed the greatest one-day early voting increase compared to the other 32 early voting locations for these runoffs. And in case you don't know, early voting was down yesterday at the Acres Homes Multi-Service Center, Prairie View A&M Northwest Campus, Atascocita Branch Library, Katherine Tyra Branch Library, Northeast Multi-Service Center, Octavia Fields Branch Library, Kashmere Multi-Service Center, and Texas Southern University relative to the first day of early voting for the general election back on Monday, October 21, 2019. But all isn't lost, early voting will resume on Monday, December 2, 2019, and continue through Tuesday, December 10, 2019. So, please remind all of your family and friends who live in Houston that "ELECTION DAY" voting will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2019, for this historic citywide election.

Enthusiasm Abounds in Kingwood with Largest First Day Early Voting Day One Increase from the General Election; Historic Mayoral Runoff Election Turnout on the Horizon in Houston

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

I am predicting for the Saturday, December 14, 2019, runoff showdown between Tony Buzbee and Mayor Sylvester Turner to be one for the history books. Especially since both mayoral candidates are asking for the vote of Houston Business Connections Newspaper© readers this time around. Look, Houston voters showed a tremendous amount enthusiasm as they kicked off the early voting period with a bang on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, on the first day of early voting. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed in hopes that the upward trend will continue when the early voting period resumes on Monday, December 2, 2019. Houstonians are off to a GREAT start. And as always, the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, located at 1475 W. Gray Street, led the way with 1,207, Houstonians casting votes in person on the first day of early voting for these runoffs. However, the number of in-person votes cast at the Kingwood Community Center, located at 4102 Rustic Woods Drive wasn’t too far behind with 878 in-person voters showing up to cast their ballot. If the increases from these two locations are any indication of what we can expect, we could very well be on the cusp of a historic runoff election between Buzbee and Mayor Turner. How can I say this? Well, back in the general election, the first-day in-person vote total for the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center was 763 in-person votes. So, the first-day in-person vote total at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center for these runoffs shows an increase of 444 in-person votes. In an even sharper contrast, early in-person voting over at the Kingwood Community Center for these runoffs yielded an increase of 561 in-person votes comparative to the first day in-person ballots cast back in the general election.

“Mean Gene” Hill Shares His Thoughts on the Mayor's Race with Aubrey R. Taylor

I’ve been saying for months now, that support for Tony Buzbee in the Black Community is continuing to grow. I’m not just making this stuff up. I am not sure why nobody else is talking about this. To this end, I recently asked Eugene “Mean Gene” Hill a professional heavyweight boxer with a record of 34 wins and 2 losses to share a few thoughts about his friendship with Tony Buzbee.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: How long have you and Tony Buzbee been friends?

MEAN GENE: “Tony and I have been friends since 2007. It began with him sponsoring me in my boxing career and a solid friendship grew from there, now we are like family.”

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: How do you feel about your friend Tony Buzbee running for mayor of Houston?

MEAN GENE: “I'm excited for him. I can say that Tony has Houston's best interest at heart. He didn't have to run for mayor, but he feels strongly about doing all he can to help improve a city that he loves so much.”

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: What would you say to the Houstonians who are (still undecided) about whether to vote for Tony Buzbee or Mayor Sylvester Turner?

MEAN GENE: “Turner has shown Houston what he can do and what his priorities are. I'd ask the (undecided) voters if they were happy with what they've seen.

I don't think there is a PERFECT person, but there is the BEST person for the position as the mayor of Houston. Tony has always fought for the people, as he's shown this time and time again, as a United States Marine, as a lawyer, and as a human being.

Campaign speeches, commercials, and politics aside... Just look at the depth in which both candidates have demonstrated as it relates to improving the quality of life for people. You will clearly see that Tony's level of commitment and sacrifice for the people far surpasses that of Turner.”
