I really don’t know a great deal about D’Audrey Terry-Stephens at this point. However, State Rep. Shawn Thierry (Texas House District 146) is one of my favorite lawmakers. And "Dr. Nissi" Hamilton is an inspirational force if you ask me. I am so proud of “NISSI”. I first met her back in 2019, on the campaign trail. She was on the ballot in the race for Houston City Council District D, back then. You know – the one that had more than sixteen candidates in it – the one that was eventually won by the Carolyn Evans-Shabazz over Brad “Scarface” Jordan in a runoff. Anyways, like I said, she didn’t win that race. But she won my heart with her passionate, and I must add, upbeat message about how she planned to (if elected) be a powerful voice on Houston’s City Council for the voiceless.

Like I said, "Dr. Nissi" Hamilton did not win her race for Houston City Council District D, back in 2019; but she’s still a winner in my book. Why? Well, because her story didn’t stop when she came up short in her quest to become a Houston City Council woman. Nope! She didn’t allow a political defeat to cause her to lose sight of her true calling and mission for being here on planet earth. “There is POWER in the name of Jesus,” she recently said in a Facebook post. “From this day forward...This is how I will FIGHT BATTLES....There’s an ARMY rising up to BREAK EVERY CHAIN,” she went on to say in the post. “The chains are falling off of OUR Black and Brown children,” she proclaimed. And she’s right in my opinion!!!
THE RIGHT APPROACH
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with peacefully marching and protesting. However, marching and protesting is only one way to get things done. And looting and destroying property should never be considered as a way of solving our problems. Yes, I know that burning down buildings and destroying our communities seem to be effective – but at the end of the day, this only seems effective until it’s your business that’s being looted and destroyed – until it’s your car that’s being set on fire.

After the cameras are gone, people like "Dr. Nissi" Hamilton and D'Audrey Terry-Stephens tend to do their work with little fanfare – oftentimes with no recognition or accolades. However, that’s going to change with the “SISTERHOOD SERIES” movement I’ve launched to recognize women in the legal, professional, and political fields. In case you don’t know, women, regardless of their political party affiliations still face some serious challenges in their fight for equality. “When you are in the Father’s House....NOBODY FIGHT’S ALONE,” says "Dr. Nissi" Hamilton. “Thank you State Rep. PEOPLE ABOVE POLITICS
To bring about change in Texas it’s imperative that we find unique ways to work across party lines. Why? Well, because as it stands right now, according to the Texas Republican Party of Texas website Texas is the strongest Republican state in the entire nation. And this isn’t fake news – that’s a fact! And, it’s also true that the people of Texas have entrusted Republicans with the stewardship of every statewide elected office and majorities in the state senate, state house and on the state board of education – just as it states on their website. Now, for those of you who don’t know, Republicans have majorities in 107 Texas counties that contain nearly two-thirds of the state’s population – just as their website states. Why am I sharing this information? Well, because if we’re going to bring about the change we need in Black and Brown communities we’re going to need the help of Republicans and Democrats.
African Americans were one group of Texans that would consistently support the Republican Party in Texas in those early years. In fact, throughout Reconstruction, African Americans comprised about 90% of GOP membership, and 44 African Americans served in the Texas legislature as Republicans.
HISTORY YOU SHOULD KNOW
It was through the hard work of a number of dedicated African American men and women that the earliest foundations of the Republican Party of Texas were laid. The first-ever state Republican convention that met in Houston on July 4, 1867 was predominantly African American in composition, with about 150 African American Texans attending, and 20 Anglos.
The second State GOP Chairman, Norris Wright Cuney, an African-American from Galveston who led the Republican Party from 1883 to 1897, is said by State historians to have held “the most important political position given to a black man of the South in the nineteenth

Make no mistake about it, who the people of Harris County, Texas choose to give another term to in 2022 must be about substance, job performance, judicial temperament, competence, and whether or not our members of the judiciary are following the law with their rulings. And that being said, in 2022, it is incumbent upon the voters of Harris County to evaluate the job performance of each and every sitting "ELECTED OFFICIAL" on a case-by-case basis and not as a group based on their political party affiliation, ethnicity, or gender.
