Judge-Elect Linda Marie Dunson Defeated Judge Sheri Y. Dean in the race for the 308th Family District Court in the 2018 Midterm Election

JUDGE-ELECT LINDA MARIE DUNSON UNSEATED JUDGE SHERI Y. DEAN; STRAIGHT-TICKET VOTING NOT A FACTOR IN DUNSON’S VICTORY

In case you don’t know, Judge-Elect Linda Marie Dunson would have still defeated Judge Sheri Y. Dean in the race for Family District Judge, 309th Judicial District Court – even without the 104,698 straight-ticket voting cushion she received from Democratic voters in Harris County, Texas back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the midterm election. Here’s why: Linda Marie Dunson received 650,802 overall votes. When you subtract the 514,758 straight-ticket votes, you come up with 136,044 votes. Comparatively speaking, if you subtract the 410,060 straight-ticket votes, Judge Sheri Y. Dean received from her overall vote total of 528,108 you come up with 118,048 votes. So, in essence, even if you stripped away the straight-ticket votes received by Judge-Elect Linda Marie Dunson and Judge Sheri Y. Dean, she would have still defeated Judge Dean by approximately 17,996 votes back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the midterm election in my opinion.

Linda Dunson Shares Why She's a Better Candidate than Judge Sheri Y. Dean in the race for Judge, 309th Family District Court

Attorney Linda Dunson is currently running for Family District Judge, 309th Judicial District Court in Harris County, Texas. Attorney Dunson will face off against Judge Sheri Y. Dean in the Tuesday, November 6, 2018, Midterm Election when early voting begins on Monday, October 22, 2018. Attorney Dunson's written interview will be published in the next edition of Houston Business Connections Newspaper© featuring the highly contested race for United States Senate between Senator Ted Cruz and U.S. Representative Beto O'Rourke on the cover.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: Why should voters in Harris County, Texas cast their ballot for you over your opponent on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the Midterm Election?

ATTORNEY LINDA DUNSON: “I see myself as a superior candidate to my opponent. My opponent says that she is much more experienced than I. To paraphrase President Trump during one of the presidential debates, [my opponent’s] “experience is ‘bad’ experience.” Rather than endorsing “bad experience,” voters should support court officials who pledge to be efficient, empathetic, fair, and effective. The court itself should be an institution in which all stakeholders are treated with respect and receive “equal treatment under the law.” Electing me will move the court in that direction. The people of Harris County deserve such a court and must demand it with their vote. I became a challenger in this arena because the status quo, which my opponent represents, warrants contesting. I don’t want the Houston Bar to continue to rate the 309th, 57% insofar as courtesy is concerned. Everyone, including the judge, should leave their ego at the entrance to the court. The 309th District Court, under my direction, will be run more efficiently; and having the second highest docket of backlogged cases cannot be tolerated any longer. It should go without saying that a judge’s priority is equality for all; he or she should not be biased or partial toward or against any stakeholder, male or female. If I am elected, I will demonstrate my understanding of human circumstances and motives, based on my background, education, experiences, skills, and abilities. In short, I am appealing to the citizens of Harris County to throw their weight behind someone who deems herself a heavyweight in the battle for the equitable rights, needs, and treatment of families.”

ARE YOU HOPING FOR A BLUE WAVE OR RED STORM ON NOVEMBER 6TH?

"Whether you’re a Democrat hoping for a “BLUE WAVE” to flow through Harris County, Texas, or a “REPUBLICAN” looking for a “RED STORM” to blow through town you had better not take any vote for granted in the Tuesday, November 6, 2018, Midterm Election whereas Harris County, Texas is concerned. And with that said, I am imploring all of my loyal readers to tell all of their family, friends, associates, and passers-by about the importance of every vote in what I’m expecting to be one of the most important elections of our lifetime. And please don’t forget that early voting will begin on Monday, October 22, 2018, and end on Friday, November 2, 2018. And finally, to avoid the long lines on Election Day, you are strongly encouraged to vote early at one of the (46) forty-six "EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS" conveniently located throughout Harris County, Texas."

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Nope, you won’t see this type of story headlining your local news. People working together across party lines for a common good is almost becoming a thing of the past. Or is it? Could it be that there are good things happening all around us; but they are just not being reported? Could it be that there are “GOOD SAMARITANS” out there who are simply going about the business of doing their good deeds whether the bright-lights of the news media are shining upon their acts of kindness or not?

Judge Sheri Y. Dean is Asking for your Vote, Prayers, and Support on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Magazine©

Today, Judge Sheri Y. Dean is well known in Harris County for her hard work and active participation in the community. Judge Dean’s record and participation reflect her loyalty, commitment, and respect as a Judge and community leader. GOOD SAMARITANS IN ACTION

We at Houston Business Connections Newspaper© would love to cover more stories about people working together for the common good of us all. Like them, and their political activities or not, Phillip Paul Bryant and his brother Prince Bryant should be commended for a job well done recently at their “9th Annual Backpacks to the 5th Ward” giveaway. “My daughter and I (along with several fellow Republican colleagues and other candidates) spent most of the day at the Island of Hope Church of God in Christ at the 9th Annual Backpacks to the 5th Ward,” says Judge John Schmude, the presiding judge of the 247th Family District Court in Harris County, Texas. “It was an honor to be given the opportunity to speak to the parents and the kids,” says Judge Schmude. “I want to personally thank Phillip Paul Bryant for organizing this outstanding event and for giving us an opportunity to serve those who are in need in our community.”

Judge John Schmude, Presiding Judge for the 247th Family District Court in Harris County, Texas, and his daughter Allie are both recognized as a "GOOD SAMARITAN" for their participation in the Island of Hope Church of God in Christ "9th Annual Backpacks to the 5th Ward" giveaway that took place on Sunday, August 26, 2018. JUDGE SCHMUDE IS RIGHT

I concur with Judge Schmude, as we put politics aside for a moment, Phillip Paul Bryant, and his brother Prince Bryant are indeed worthy of recognition for the good deed they've just performed. And to this end, I consider both these guys, along with all the fine folks who made this event a success “GOOD SAMARITANS”. And,  I would also like to take this moment to implore every warm-blooded American to come to the realization that there are good, honorable, God-fearing people on both sides of the aisle.

WHAT IS A GOOD SAMARITAN?

Are you wondering what it means to be a good Samaritan? If so, here's the best definition I could find. In case you're wondering, I found "The Parable of the Good Samaritan" in the book of Luke, Chapter 10, in verses 25 through 37 in the New International Version of the Bible.

LUKE 25: On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

LUKE 26: “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

LUKE 27: He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[a]; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]”

LUKE 28: “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

LUKE 29: But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

LUKE 30: In reply, Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii[c] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

LUKE 36: “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

LUKE 37: The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Attorney Dedra Davis takes commitments very seriously. So, when it comes to the slogan, "Making Law and Order EQUAL Justice" you can best believe that it's more than a play on words for her. "Every citizen will have a voice and fair day in court when I'm elected presiding judge of the 270th Judicial District Court in Harris County," says Davis who will be seeking to unseat Republican Judge Brent Gamble on November 6th. Attorney William Bill McLeod is Asking for the Vote, Prayers, and Support of every Registered Harris County, Texas Voter says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Magazine©

According to William “Bill” McLeod he knows of many attorneys and individuals that have appeared in the County Civil Court-at-Law No. 4, that’s located at 201 Caroline on the 5th floor in Houston, Texas. “I’ve heard the stories about the courtroom inefficiencies and lack of care given to the individual cases before the Court,” says Bill. “The lack of due process that should be afforded every citizen is frustrating to the attorneys, their clients, and the Pro-Se litigants that approach the bench,” according to Bill. “Harris County Civil Court-at-Law No. 4 does not meet the needs of the citizens that go before it,” he says. As the Houston Chronicle stated in their 2014 endorsements, “Harris County civil courts at law need judges who can show patience and compassion.” The Chronicle referred to the current judge as having “a reputation for being hard to work with on the bench. When you're a judge, it's not just about being right, but about how you manage your courtroom.” Bill feels that there are multiple ways to improve the court’s operation and service to the County. And this is just part of the reason William "Bill" McLeod is asking for your vote, prayers, and support on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, when he faces off against Sophia Mafrige in the race for Judge, County Civil Court at Law No. 4 in Harris County, Texas.

Judge Jackson is one of the Top Democrats on the 2018 Democratic Statewide Ticket says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Magazine©

One of the top statewide Democratic candidates on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, Midterm Election ballot in Texas, Judge Maria T. Jackson should garner votes from non-straight ticket voters from both major political parties, independents and Libertarians too in my opinion. In case you don’t already know, only two Democratic candidates received more statewide votes than Judge Maria T. Jackson back in the Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Democratic Primary. The #1 statewide Democratic vote-getter was Justin Nelson (888,444) who is running for Attorney General. The #2 statewide Democratic vote-getter was Kim Olson (883,575) who is running for Agriculture Commissioner. And our very own Judge Maria T. Jackson (878,581) was the #3 statewide vote-getter back in the Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Democratic Party Primary in Texas. So, if you're out there looking for a candidate who is experienced, fair, and ready to administer blind-fold justice in cases brought before the highest court for criminal appeals in the State of Texas – look no further than Judge Maria T. Jackson on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

Attorney Shannon Baldwin Believes that You have a right to be treated Fairly and with Respect says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Magazine©

Attorney Shannon Baldwin also believes that a judge is the one who is responsible for setting the tone of the entire courtroom and its staff. To this end, she furthermore believes that for true change to occur in our judicial system we must start at the top. And according to her, a good judge ensures that nothing happens in a courtroom that violates anyone's rights but also notes that the Harris County Courthouse has not been known as a good place for defendants.

Judge Michelle Slaughter, Pictured with Lt. Col. Allen West is Expected to Roll to Victory on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Magazine©

I'm expecting for Judge Michelle Slaughter to roll to victory over her Libertarian Party challenger on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. After all, she's already faced her toughest challenge, which was to win the Republican nomination. And she did so in good-fashion over two worthy fellow Republicans back in the Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Republican Party Primary. So, as a refresher, Judge Michelle Slaughter received more votes than both her Republican Party Primary opponents combined by garnering 669,949 statewide votes, while Jay Brandon received 389,753 statewide votes, and Dib Waldrip received 208,179 statewide votes respectively. Again, I'm expecting for Judge Michelle Slaughter to handily defeat Mark Ash, her Libertarian challenger. So, if you're out there looking for a constitutional conservative judge and originalist who has presided over thousands of felony criminal cases and well over a hundred felony criminal jury trials ranging from state-jail felonies to capital murder cases you should look no further than Judge Michelle Slaughter – 2018 Candidate for Judge, Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 8 on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the Lone Star State.

BLUEWAVE OR REDSTORM?

Whether you’re a Democrat hoping for a “BLUEWAVE” to flow through Harris County, Texas, or a “REPUBLICAN” looking for a “REDSTORM” to blow through town you had better not take anything for granted in the 2018 Midterm Election whereas Harris County, Texas is concerned. And with that said, I am imploring all my loyal readers to tell all of your family, friends, associates, and passers-by about the importance of every vote in what I’m expecting to be one of the most important elections of our lifetime. And please don’t forget that early voting will begin on Monday, October 22, 2018, and end on Friday, November 2, 2018. Finally, while I’m encouraging you to vote early if for some reason you can’t, you can still cast your vote on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "It is imperative that we make it our business to elect the “BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATES” who value our vote when we go to the polls. And don’t forget to vote early. The early voting period will begin on Monday, October 22, 2018, and end on Friday, November 2, 2018 – ALL VOTES MATTER!"
