HOUSTON – Summing up the 2017 Houston Astros “World Series Team” as a team of destiny just doesn’t seem to do justice when it comes to what this team has truly accomplished. What we’ve just witnessed may not ever come again, so let’s not do anything -- but savor the memories of this moment for a while. Just think about it, four short years ago, the Houston Astros were at an all-time low – and rebuilding. And just a few months ago, Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc on our beloved city – affectionately known as the bayou city. But today, the Houston Astros have demonstrated to everyone who’s ever been counted out that they can accomplish their dream if they keep stepping up to the plate – one season of their life can change everything!
Astros manager A.J. Hinch got it right when he was quoted as saying: “We’ll forever be a championship city.” Yes indeed, the city of Houston has found a gem in this young and scrappy Houston Astros team who won’t soon be forgotten. Their seventh game victory in the “World Series” over the Dodgers by a score of (5 to 1) was really nice – but this was much bigger than baseball for many Houstonians. Especially on the heels of everything Houstonians have gone through over the last few months in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey -- and the still ongoing recovery process. Yes, the #HoustonStrong mantra was born out of our will to overcome every adversity faced; every challenge presented; every obstacle placed in our way; every foe standing between us and the goal we’ve set out to accomplish. Yes, we're a strong and resilient people indeed! And nope, this story could not have been scripted any better Mr. A.J. Hinch. You got it right again when you said: "It's hard to draw it up any better…I don't care who we beat or where we beat them, I just want to be the last team standing, and we're taking this trophy, this championship vibe we've got going back to Houston. We'll forever be a championship city."
