Houston City Council District J Residents Could See a December Runoff Between Nelvin Adriatico, and Edward Pollard

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

The race for Houston City Council District J is shaping up to be a showdown between Nelvin Adriatico and Edward Pollard as heavy-weight endorsements begin to roll in for both candidates. Just last week Pollard received the endorsements of the Honorable Carroll G. Robinson, a former At-Large Houston City Councilman, and HCC Trustee. He then doubled-down by gaining the (HBAD) Houston Black American Democrats endorsement over the weekend. But not to be outdone, Nelvin Adriatico has snagged the endorsement of former City of Houston Mayor Annise Parker and the Victory Fund. In case you don’t know, Adriatico also has a few other key endorsements worth mentioning. The Rice University Young Democrats, Houston's Gamma Beta Fraternity, The Houston College Democrats, Our Revolution, The Harris County Young Democrats, Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, Philippine American Coalition of Texas, Sri Preston Kulkarni for Congress, and Former Houston Mayor Pro Tem and City Councilman Gordon Quan just to name a few.

Nelvin Adriatico is endorsed by former Houston Mayor Annise Parker in the race for Houston City Council District J on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

A STRONG DEMOCRAT

The Houston City Council District J race is nonpartisan. However, the party affiliation of candidates always seems to rear its head in local nonpartisan elections. So, Nelvin Adriatico is a strong Democrat, and Edward Pollard according to some media reports is a self-proclaimed “conservative Democrat” who opposed (HERO) The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance. However, according to a report published by Erik Manning to help inform Houstonians, Barry Curtis is the only true Republican in the race for Houston City Council District J on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. According to Manning, Andrew “Drew” Patterson is a Democrat and will appear first on the ballot. Sandra Rodriguez is a Democrat and will appear third on the ballot. Nelvin Adriatico is a Democrat and will appear forth on the ballot. Federico “Freddie” Cuellar II, is a Democrat and will appear fifth on the ballot. Edward Pollard will appear sixth on the ballot. And rounding out the field of candidates is Rafael Galvan, a Democrat who will appear seventh on the ballot. But, please keep in mind that there won’t be any “D’s” or “R’s” beside the name of any of the candidate appearing on the ballot on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

NELVIN ADRIATICO VALUES “US”

“I would like to remind you, our loyal readers of Houston Business Connections Newspaper©, that Nelvin Adriatico is a candidate who values “OUR” vote, prayers and support. He’s also the only candidate at the time of this report that’s asking for “OUR” support. In case you don’t know, he’s seeking to succeed Council Member Mike Laster (who is term-limited and cannot run for re-election) as the Houston City Council District J councilman. So, it is imperative that we make it our business to elect the “BEST QUALIFIED” candidates who value “US” up and down the ballot on November 5th. Nelvin Adriatico is a “BUSINESS LEADER” who will protect the taxpayers. And he’s also a “COMMUNITY ADVOCATE” who will represent the entire district and hit the ground running.”

LET’S RISE TOGETHER

“Like many residents of District J, I have struggled in my pursuit of the American Dream. As the son of a teacher, I learned the value of hard work from a young age. As a business leader, I learned the importance of creating good-paying jobs. For the past 20 years, I have dedicated myself to working with non-profits to better our community. With your support, I want to continue to work my hardest for my neighbors as your next Councilman, thank you and God bless.”

HOUSTON BUSINESS CONNECTIONS NEWSPAPER© IS A TRUSTED NON-PARTISAN BRANDING AND MOBILIZATION TOOL

In case you don’t remember, in a head-to-head “ENDORSEMENT SHOWDOWN” candidates endorsed by a “select group” of Houston Business Connections Newspaper© readers performed significantly better than those endorsed by the Houston Chronicle editorial board back in the Tuesday, November 8, 2016, Presidential Election as Democrats rolled to historic countywide victories over their Republicans counterparts in what, at the time, was the worst defeat ever for the Harris County Republican Party in its 71-year history.

HOUSTON BUSINESS CONNECTIONS NEWSPAPER© READERS SUPPORT CANDIDATES WHO VALUE THEIR VOTE

As a refresher, there were sixty-seven (67) races where a “select group” of Houston Business Connections Newspaper© readers went head-to-head against the Houston Chronicle editorial board. Fifty-one (51) of the sixty-seven (67) candidates endorsed by Houston Business Connections Newspaper© (in the head-to-head contest) back in the 2016 Presidential Election won their respective races on election night. By contrast, only thirty-eight (38) of the sixty-seven (67) candidates endorsed by the Houston Chronicle editorial board (in these key races) won their respective races back on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, in the Presidential Election as it relates specifically to Harris County, Texas.
