State Senator John Whitmire Would Make A Better Mayor for the City of Houston than Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (left) and state Senator John Whitmire (right) are the only two candidates in the "TOP-TIER" of "2023 City of Houston Mayoral Contenders" as of Saturday, June 24, 2023. With former City Councilwoman Amanda Edwards and former Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins out of the race, the "ELLIS/TURNER POLITICAL REGIME" is under the impression, that Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, has a clear path to victory, but they are wrong. With Edwards and Hollins out of the race, many registered Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents may either join the growing list of people endorsing state Senator John Whitmire or cast their vote for someone other than Sheila Jackson Lee, as a protest vote at the ballot box on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in our beloved Bayou City. AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "For America to remain the dominant "SUPER POWER' in the world, every warm-blooded American had better start 'PUTTING PEOPLE OVER POLITICS' at the ballot box by elevating duly-qualified God-fearing leaders into positions of authority."

State Senator John Whitmire Would Make A Better Mayor for the City of Houston than Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

After careful maneuvering and perhaps even a few backroom deals, the race to become Houston’s next mayor has state Senator John Whitmire and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a member of the “ELLIS/TURNER POLITICAL REGIME” sitting comfortably in the “TOP-TIER” of “2023 City of Houston Mayoral Contenders” who are vying to succeed Mayor Sylvester Turner, who is term-limited and cannot run for reelection on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in our beloved Bayou City.

“THE SECOND TIER.”

As it stands right now, as of Saturday, June 24, 2023, Gilbert Garcia, the former chairman of Metro has dropped to the “SECOND TIER” and may need to reconsider running for Mayor of Houston on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, altogether, as his campaign hasn’t gained any traction.

Along with Gilbert Garcia in the “SECOND TIER” of “2023 City of Houston Mayoral Contenders” is term-limited Councilman Robert Gallegos, Police Officer Robin Williams, Attorney Lee Kaplan, and former Councilman M.J. Khan, in my opinion.

“THE THIRD TIER.”

Sitting in the “THIRD TIER” of “2023 City of Houston Mayoral Contenders” right now is Chanel M. Mbala, Derrick Broze, Gaylon Caldwell, Julian Martinez, Naoufal Houjami, Rickey Tezino, and Theudis Daniel. However, more shifting and jostling should be expected to take place before the ballot is officially set on Monday, August 21, 2013, with the filing deadline expiring.

“OPEN YOUR EYES.”

As it stands right now, state Senator John Whitmire is the only candidate who has officially designated a treasurer who has the money, and support to foil the plan that has been hatched by the “ELLIS/TURNER POLITICAL REGIME” to make sure that corrupt “a$$” Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is elected Mayor, and coward “a$$” Chris Hollins is elected Controller, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

“COME TOGETHER.”

Every warm-blooded Houstonian who is registered to vote must take a close look at state Senator John Whitmire’s endorsement list. From what I can see, Whitmire has a very strong cross-section of support from respected leaders and organizations. That being said, it is vitally important that “OPEN-MINDED” Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents set their political differences, and views on social issues aside and unite to defeat the “ELLIS/TURNER POLITICAL REGIME” on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the ballot box.

“Together we can make Houston better,” says State John Whitmire. And if you ask me, as it stands right now, it would be better for Houstonians to elect John Whitmire over corrupt “aSS” Sheila Jackson Lee, who will turn a blind eye to corruption (just like she’s been doing for the last 30 years) and allow her fellow members of the “ELLIS/TURNER POLITICAL REGIME” to run amuck, if she’s elected as the CEO of the City of Houston.

“IMPORTANT DATES.”

The first day to officially apply for a place on the ballot is Saturday, July 22, 2023, if you plan on running for Mayor, Houston City Controller, or Houston City Council on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in our beloved Bayou City.

The last day to file for a place on the ballot is Monday, August 21, 2023, by 5:00 p.m., for all those interested in playing an active role in the future of our great City.

“FILING APPLICATIONS.”

All applicants can officially start filling for a place on the ballot at the Mayor’s Office, that’s located at 901 Bagby, 3rd Floor, Houston, Texas, 77002, after July 22, 2023. According to the City of Houston’s website, “Applications may also be submitted via e-mail to mayor@houstontx.gov. Please note that, for applications submitted via e-mail, the filing fee or petition instead of a filing fee must still be filed in person. Please also note that the first day of the filing period is set by state law and does not move; the hours of operation for the Mayor’s Office are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.”

“FILING COSTS.”

The filing fee to run for Mayor of the city of Houston is only $1,250.00, the fee to run for Houston City Controller the filing fee is only $750.00, and the fee to run for one of the Houston City Council positions is only $500.00. However, the filing fee must be paid by cash, cashier’s check, or by certified check made payable to the City of Houston.

The City of Houston will not be accepting any personal checks or money orders from any candidates. And once you pay your filing fee, you can’t get your money back. Filing fees are non-refundable. (See City Charter, Art. V, Sec. 6.), for more information.

"MEET JOHN."

According to his website, Strong leadership and commitment to public service defines John Whitmire. He has spent his adult life working for Houstonians in our state’s Capitol, and now, John is running for Houston Mayor. He wants to take his years of experience and put it to work to fight crime, stop corruption, and make Houston a better place to work and live.

John has represented a large portion of Houston and Harris County in Austin focusing on improving public safety, economic development, and ensuring government works for the people - not special interests.

As the Chair of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee, John has transformed Texas into a national leader in criminal justice reform by advocating his tough but smart crime positions. Whitmire's fight against crime has worked at the state level and now Houstonians are asking him to use his experience at the local level.

John is known as a “can do” public servant. John often says Houston is not New York or Chicago – we are Houston. We can fix our problems.

John is an active advocate for all our first responders, and John believes we must have the best fire and police departments in the country. Furthermore, John also advocates for small businesses in Houston and across Texas by championing policies that encourage economic growth.

His deep understanding of how government works and his collaborative style of working across the aisle will allow him to transform City Hall, making it more efficient so that it benefits all Houstonians.

Houston is a large metropolitan city and John believes we should continue to grow and respect our differences. Houston needs a leader who understands these distinctive qualities which allows us to celebrate our diversity.

John Whitmire is the leader we need, and he needs your support in his run for the next Mayor of Houston.

“Let’s go to work!”
