Darryl B. Carter Was Found Dead this Morning; Attorney Carter is an Alleged Former Lover of Former Mayor Sylvester Turner

Attorney Darryl B. Carter (second from left) was found dead early this morning by his wife. Carter earned his law degree from the University of Houston and was licensed on November 3, 1995. It's a strange coincidence that Attorney Darryl B. Carter, a former alleged lover of former Mayor Sylvester Turner, was found dead on the same day (Saturday, March 15, 2025) when his former alleged lover was getting buried. As a refresher, attorney Darryl B. Carter is the man who knew Mayor Sylvester Turner's deep, dark secrets, according to "THE AFFIDAVIT" signed by Cheryl Gillum Turner under penalty of perjury back on November 13, 1991. FAST FORWARD to 2022, this same Darryl Carter was lobbying for a company that stood to gain 20% of the Houston Intercontinental Airport Terminal D and Terminal E food and beverage contracts that were estimated to bring in $116.4 million into the city’s revenue stream over the next decade. In 2022, Darryl Carter hosted an illegal fundraiser for Houston City Councilwoman Tiffany D. Thomas, and he wrote her a $5,000 check that she later had to give back to him. That said, the Aubrey R. Taylor Communications investigative team uncovered over $27,000 in illegal cash deposits by Councilwoman Tiffany D. Thomas into her campaign bank account. You can "CLICK HERE" to see the $12,500.00 illegal "CASH DEPOSIT" she made.

"ELLIS/TURNER/LEE."

What you must remember about the connection and alleged love affair between former Mayor Sylvester Turner and Carter is that his 'alleged lover' Attorney, Darryl B. Carter, didn't just benefit from City of Houston Contracts. Still, Carter benefited from the entire "ELLIS/TURNER/LEE" regime for several decades. Please stay tuned because this story is still developing.

Councilwoman Tiffany D. Thomas could be just as crooked as former Mayor Sylvester Turner. First, she took an illegal campaign contribution from Darryl Carter when she should not have been talking to vendors under any circumstances. And on top of that, Darryl Carter hosted a fundraiser for her campaign and wrote her a check for $5,000 that she had to give back to him.

On July 5, 2022, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas received a $5,000 check from attorney Darryl B. Carter, who also acts as a lobbyist.

On August 14, 2022, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas gave the entire $5,000 back to attorney Darryl B. Carter, who had received it from him at the illegal fundraiser he hosted for her campaign.

As mentioned, both transactions can be found on Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas’s “CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORT” dated 1/17/2023 and were filed under penalty of perjury.

On February 1, 2022, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas received a check from Thomas Jones, a strong ally of Mayor Sylvester Turner’s, who was mentioned in “THE AFFIDAVIT” that was signed off on by Mayor Sylvester Turner’s wife at the time (Cheryl Gillum Turner), under penalty of perjury.

“DIRTY COUNCILWOMAN.”

An investigation into the more than $27,000 cash donations that were “IMPROPERLY REPORTED” by Tiffany Thomas “CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS” between July 31, 2019, and December 16, 2019, shows a pattern of questionable activities on behalf of Councilwoman Thomas. During the period in question, she was running for the vacant Houston City Council District F seat against Jesus Zachary Zamora, G. “John” Nguyen, Richard Nguyen, Anthony Nelson, Van Huynh, and Adekunle “Kay” Elegbede, a write-in candidate back on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, in the general election.

Tiffany Thomas finished first on Tuesday, November 8, 2019, in the general election. Still, since no candidate received a majority (50+1%) of the vote, she and the second-place finisher, Van Huynh, had to face off on a Saturday, December 14, 2019, runoff election, which Thomas won by garnering 4,519 votes, for 55.96% of the vote. Comparatively speaking, Van Huynh received 3,556 votes, for 44.04%.

On July 31, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a substantial “CASH DEPOSIT” in her campaign account for $3,775.00 and did not detail where she obtained the money.

On August 15, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a substantial “CASH DEPOSIT” in her campaign account for $2,575.00 and did not detail where she obtained the money.

On September 3, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a substantial “CASH DEPOSIT” in her campaign account for $3,270.00 and did not detail where she obtained the money.

(VIEW DOCUMENT)

On November 10, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a small “CHECK DEPOSIT” into her campaign account for $200 and did not detail where she obtained the cash.

On November 12, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a “CASH DEPOSIT” into her campaign account for $500 and did not detail where she obtained the cash.

On November 25, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a large “CASH DEPOSIT” into her campaign account for $12,500 and did not detail where the money came from, or disclose the name of the person who gave her the money.

On December 16, 2019, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas made a substantial “CASH DEPOSIT” into her campaign account for $4,300 without explaining where she obtained the money or who donated the money to her campaign.

Mayor Sylvester Turner (left) and Darryl Carter's relationship goes back to the 1990s. It is believed that Darryl Carter is the man who knows Sylvester Turner's deepest, darkest secrets. He's also a man who has benefitted tremendously from government contracts. You can "CLICK HERE" to learn more about Sylvester Turner and his exploits.

“THE DARK SIDE.”

Believe it or not, Mayor Sylvester Turner was a deeply disturbed human with deep, dark secrets he protected for decades. “I also am aware of certain unprofessional acts of Sylvester about approaching people and inviting them to sexual orgies,” explained Cheryl Gillum Turner in her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” of facts.

On (PAGE 5) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT,” Cheryl went on to name names, stating, “Also, I have heard comments made about Don Aaron, Darryl Carter, Dwight Thomas and others relating to sexual involvement with Sylvester."

“In fact, there have been suggestions made to me personally by Carter that he had control of Sylvester because Carter knows Sylvester’s “deepest, darkest secrets,” she explained.

“Those allegations can be substantiated because Sylvester secured a loan from Bank Plus and paid cash for a 1991 Explorer for Darryl Carter,” according to Cheryl Gillum Turner. “Carter is also employed by Sylvester, and I suspect that Sylvester is also paying part of Carter’s tuition, if not all, to attend the University of Houston Law School,” she said on (PAGE 5) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” of facts.

Another powerful Black businessman who has turned his life around with the help of Sylvester Turner is Thomas Jones, who served as Sylvester Turner’s campaign manager back during the 1990s.

“Carter and Thomas Jones, who is Sylvester’s campaign manager, had a disagreement, and Jones fired Carter,” explained Sylvester’s wife.

According to Cheryl Gillum Turner, when Sylvester Turner confronted Jones about firing Darryl Carter, her husband rehired Darryl Carter and placed him inside his law firm.

“Carter informed me that he has the receipt of Jones’ drug rehabilitation program, and he has a copy of the police investigation into Jones transporting drugs,” she explained.

“I also have heard that Don Aaron is a photography buff and has implied that he has unbecoming photographs of Sylvester,” Cheryl Gillum Turner on (PAGE 6) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” of facts.

“FEARFUL OF SYLVESTER.”

On (PAGE 8) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT,” Cheryl Gillum Turner expressed her fears about Sylvester Turner and how he might try to destroy her life. “I suspect that Sylvester has some type of master plan in which he plans to divorce me, gain custody of my daughter, and publicly destroy me,” she explained.

“As I have attempted to participate in this campaign, Sylvester has been instrumental in making sure that I am not publicly seen nor actively participate in different activities concerning the campaign,” she said, speaking of his failed bid to become Mayor of Houston in November of 1991.

Darryl B. Carter Was Found Dead this Morning; Attorney Carter is an Alleged Former Lover of Former Mayor Sylvester Turner

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

I need you to understand that Mayor Sylvester Turner’s links to schemes didn’t start when he became Mayor of Houston, Texas. Back in 1991, when Sylvester Turner was a member of the Texas Legislature and running against Bob Lanier for Mayor, he was linked to a “FAKED DEATH” AND INSURANCE FRAUD SCHEME that came to light due to the investigative reporting of Wayne Dolcefino, who was a reporter for KTRK Television at the time.

“Turner’s client, who allegedly carried more than $6 million in life insurance, was reported by friends to have fallen off a sailboat in the Gulf of Mexico, but a Coast Guard search never turned up a body, and it was later discovered that the client was alive and serving time in a Spanish prison on drug charges,” according to a report published on “THE LEGAL HOTLINE,” Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press.

A lot of Houstonians over the age of 50 are very familiar with the fact that Mayor Sylvester Turner sued KTRK Television for libel and defamation but are not aware of the fact that “The three-judge panel reversed the award for candidate Sylvester Turner, which had already been reduced by the trial judge from a $5.55 million jury award in 1996, due to lack of evidence of falsity or actual malice – knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard for the truth – required to support the award.”

For your information, “The appellate panel found that the station’s report on the facts concerning the client’s scheme was substantially true. The panel also held that on-air statements about the interesting timing regarding the signing of the client will only three days before his disappearance and alleged death were opinions protected under the First Amendment.”

What you have to remember about Sylvester Turner’s client faking his death is that Sylvester Turner is the attorney who drafted the will for the man who faked his death three days after signing the will.

According to published reports, it’s also important to remember that “Turner drafted the will, delivered the eulogy at the client’s funeral, and represented the estate in probate proceedings until suspicions that the death had been faked arose."

Now, doesn’t this all sound familiar?

If you fast forward to 2021, Mayor Sylvester Turner was caught in another suspicious set of circumstances. Mayor Turner pulled his support from a $15 million affordable housing project in Houston.

As mentioned above, the subhead of the report read, “The move comes in direct response to allegations from the mayor’s former housing director, who called the selection process for federal Harvey relief funds a “charade” to steer millions to a favored developer.”

Remember? Mayor Turner’s housing director, Tom McCasland himself, accused his boss (Mayor Turner) of rejecting four more substantial projects selected by housing officials, according to the Houston Public Media report.

“In his testimony to the city council on Sept. 21, McCasland accused Turner of “bankrolling a certain developer to the detriment of working families who need affordable homes,” according to the report.

The man at the center of this suspicious set of circumstances was Mayor Sylvester Turner’s former law partner, Barry Barnes, who was listed as one of the co-developers on the project.

Now, the two 10-year contracts that came under scrutiny back in 2022 were the precursor to what we saw play out with the $470 million food and beverage contract awarded to Areas USA by Houston City Councilmembers in an 11 to 6 vote.

The contracts that came up back in 2022 for Terminal D and Terminal E at Houston Intercontinental Airport were touted as projects that would infuse $116.4 million into the city’s revenue stream over the next decade, should be investigated, as should the $470 million food and beverage contract that was awarded to Areas USA in that 11 to 6 vote by councilmembers.

Just so you know, I closely monitored Mayor Sylvester Turner’s actions for more than three decades. And from what I can see, Sylvester Turner was as evil and vile as anyone I’ve investigated over the last 33 years.

He’s worse than any of the convicts I’ve interviewed inside the Harris County Jail or State Penal Institutions throughout the Lone Star State. And trust me, I’ve interviewed murderers, rapists, drug dealers, and robbers. And Turner has the worst spirit of them all.

“A DIRTY MAN.”

There was always something inherently foul about Mayor Sylvester Turner and many men who were part of the "ELLIS/TURNER/LEE" regime. These men are the worst of the worst when it comes to homosexuals. Many are sleeping with men by day and then going home to their wives at night. And on top of that, these homosexuals are greedy, conniving, cunning, and charismatic – which makes them even more dangerous in their given professions. But of them all, make no mistake; Mayor Sylvester Turner was the worst.

“TURNER’S CRONIES.”

Mayor Sylvester Turner has greased a lot of palms over the years. However, attorney Darryl B. Carter and attorney Michael Harris, Mayor Turner’s ‘alleged boyfriend’ dating back to the 1990s, were handsomely rewarded for their loyalty.

As for Michael Harris, he’s alleged to have been Mayor Turner’s lover in the 1990s. However, he wasn’t the only one.

“Before the birth of our daughter and after Sylvester had laid down this set of demands, I became very uncomfortable with our lifestyle and how our marriage was going,” said Cheryl Gillum Turner, his wife, who signed a “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” on November 13, 2021, under penalty of perjury, about Sylvester Turner and his sexual exploits with men and women.

“I also became suspicious that he was making remarks to other persons about our marital affairs,” she explained. “Therefore, I made the decision to tape record his telephone conversations.”

According to his wife at the time, it was from these recorded conversations that she learned Sylvester Turner was bisexual, as well as participating in orgies. “One of the conversations he had was with Loyd Gite, a Channel 26 news report,” she explained in her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT” of facts.

“During that conversation, Mr. Gite asked Sylvester if he wanted to have sex with him,” she said. “Sylvester responded that he would consider it.”

On (PAGE 2) of her “SWORN AFFIDAVIT,” Cheryl Gillum Turner explained in detail how after Sylvester Turner told Lloyd Gite that he would consider having sex with him, Gite proceeded to tell Sylvester Turner about the specific sexual acts he would perform on him.

“SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES.”

I don’t know much about former state Rep. Helen Giddings or Multiplex Inc., the company she owns, and who was a 6 percent junior partner in a deal involving a London-based company called SSP Group. From what I understand, Giddings has owned her concessions company since 1989 and had robust ties to Mayor Sylvester Turner, having served with Turner for decades in the Texas House of Representatives before Turner became Mayor.

The lucrative 10-year contract handed out to Helen Giddings, attorney Darryl B. Carter, and lobbyist for a company called Paradies desperately needs to be looked into by the FBI or Texas Rangers. Carter’s client was a 20 percent partner in the aforementioned lucrative concessions contract handed out by Houston councilmember back in 2022.

Attorney Darryl Carter got into a little hot water back in 2022 for hosting a fundraiser for Houston City Council District F councilwoman Tiffany Thomas, right around the same time the two lucrative Houston Intercontinental food and beverage contracts for Terminal D and Terminal E were before councilmembers. However, when Carter hosted the fundraiser for Thomas, bidders were not supposed to speak to council members (elected officials) about their proposals.

In her defense, Councilwoman Thomas claimed that she wasn’t aware of attorney Darryl B. Carter’s involvement in the bidding process and that she did not discuss matters with the bid before the council with Carter. In fact, for good measure, she even returned the $5,000 check attorney Carter donated to her campaign at the fundraiser.

Former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (right) hosted "FREAK OFFS" with young Black men in Houston, Texas, in the 1990s. While Sylvester Turner preferred young Black men, he and other members of Commissioner Rodney Ellis's regime (many of whom have wives) also indulged themselves with one another before going home to their families. According to Sylvester Turner's ex-wife, Sylvester is bisexual. Her "SWORN AFFIDAVIT" details how Lloyd Gite asked Sylvester Turner if he wanted to have sex with him, and Sylvester Turner told him that he would consider it. As their (tape-recorded) conversation continued, the Fox 26 Reporter (Lloyd Gite) detailed the types of specific sexual acts he would perform on Sylvester. (CLICK HERE) See the sordid details that Sylvester Turner and local media outlets have suppressed from the African American Community for decades.

The late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee's daughter, former Congresswoman Erica Lee Carter (right), has worked for Commissioner Rodney Ellis as his senior policy advisor since August 2020. Commissioner Rodney Ellis (left) is Erica Lee Carter's boss and has complete control and influence over her. Commissioner Rodney Ellis and the late Congressman Sylvester Turner were comrades in the Texas Legislature for decades together. Commissioner Ellis served as the Senator for Senate District 13, and "SLY" served as the State Representative for House District 139. Commissioner Rodney Ellis got into hot water with his Republican colleagues in the Texas Senate when they discovered that $500,000.00 was missing from his campaign donations after discovering he was using his campaign funds to play the Stock Market. Commissioner Rodney Ellis explained away the $500,000.00 he lost by playing the Stock Market by claiming that he lost the $500,000.00 but made it back with other investments. DEATH OF COMMISSIONER EL FRANCO LEE... When Commissioner El Franco Lee died in 2016, Commissioner Rodney Ellis left the Texas Senate to take over "PRECINCT ONE" and county government; simultaneously, "SLY" won his third bid to become Mayor of Houston and took over the City of Houston.

Erica Lee Carter Works for Rodney Ellis; The Culprit Behind the Fiasco in the 18th Congressional District is Ellis

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Commissioner Rodney Ellis is the culprit behind the predicament the people of the 18th Congressional District find themselves in today. As Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was dying from pancreatic cancer, Commissioner Ellis and Mayor Sylvester Turner recruited her to run for Mayor of Houston in an attempt to keep the City of Houston under the iron thumb of the "ELLIS/TURNER/LEE" regime. However, thanks to John Whitmire, who was a State Senator running for Mayor of Houston in 2023, he was very familiar with the tricks and antics the "ELLIS/TURNER/LEE" regime was accustomed to using against political rivals and dismantled their plan.

Ultimately, after John Whitmire soundly defeated Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on Saturday, December 9, 2023, in the City of Houston "RUNOFF ELECTION" by garnering 129,809 votes, for 64.4% of the vote, to Sheila Jackson Lee's 71,719 votes, for 35.6%, "SHE-JACK" became depressed. The humiliation "SHE-JACK" suffered at the hands of Whitmire became too much for her to handle. However, to save face, after losing her bid to become Mayor on Saturday, December 9, 2023, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee double-crossed former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, who dropped out of the Mayor's race and endorsed "SHE-JACK" against John Whitmire.

Sheila Jackson Lee and other members of the "ELLIS/TURNER/LEE" regime underhandedly snatched the potential opportunity from Amanda Edwards to become Mayor of the City of Houston. And then they inflicted further pain upon Amanda Edwards, running Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee against her in the Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Democratic Party Primary race for the 18th Congressional District of Texas, a low-down, dirty political maneuver.

The polls predicted that Amanda Edwards could potentially defeat the powerful Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, but boy, were they wrong. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee beat the dog crap out of Amanda Edwards in a low voter turnout election, where only 39,356 of more than 417,430 registered voters turned out to vote.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee only received 23,629 votes, for 60.4% of the vote, and Amanda Edwards only received 14,688 votes, which proves that the people of the 18th Congressional District are not sold on Edwards.

"FACTS AND DATA."

If you look at the "CANVASS REPORTS" my investigative team and I have compiled, you will discover that the upcoming "SPECIAL EDITION" is anybody's race. However, the person who wins will have to have a keen understanding of the maneuvers and tactics Commissioner Rodney Ellis will use to propel his subordinate, former Congresswoman Erica Lee Carter, who works out of his office as his senior policy advisor, or Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee, who is strongly considering launching a bid to succeed Congressman Sylvester Turner.

Suppose State Rep. Ron Reynolds, the first African American to win a seat for state representative in Fort Bend County, since the Reconstruction era decides to enter the race. He could hold his own against Commissioner Ellis and his minions in that case. I've talked to several businessmen and elected officials from outside Harris County, Texas, who have told me they would support Reynolds if he decides to run.

An elected official from outside Harris County, Texas, has also assured me that he would commit to raising $25,000.00 to help State Rep. Ron Reynolds win the seat. Two days ago, after I appeared on KCOH Radio alongside Hall of Fame Broadcaster Ralph Cooper, I received a call from a very wealthy businessman and a publisher who assured me that they would both throw their support behind State Rep. Ron Reynolds if he decides to run for the vacant 18th Congressional District seat.

State Rep. Ron Reynolds represents House District 27 in neighboring Fort Bend County, Texas, but he spends much time in Harris County, Texas, and all over the country. State Rep. Ron Reynolds has emerged as a voice in the wilderness for his constituents and causes near and dear to "THE BLACK COMMUNITY" in recent years.

Renolds has some critics who would try to bring up his shortcomings from the past, but the Honorable State Rep. Ron Reynolds has paid his debt to society and has masterfully regained the reigns to his life.

In my opinion, if the "LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD" can occupy the White House as a 34-time "CONVICTED FELON," the Honorable State Rep. Ron Reynolds is eligible and capable of representing the people of the 18th Congressional District of Texas if he elects to do so.

I have provided some critical data below that will show the boundaries of the 18th Congressional District and the "OFFICIAL CANVASS REPORTS" from the most recent race for the 18th Congressional District of Texas between the late Sylvester Turner (Democrat) and a Republican by the name Lana Centonze.

What the "OFFICIAL CANVASS REPORTS" will show you is that any of the potential "TOP-TIER CANDIDATES" I've mentioned is more than capable of winning the upcoming "SPECIAL ELECTION" for the 18th Congressional District, but if (10) or (15) Democrats pursue the "OPEN SEAT" they could cancel one another out and clear the way for a Republican to make the runoff.

"TOP CONTENDERS."

Former State Representative Jarvis Johnson, State Representative Ron Reynolds, State Representative Jolanda Jones, State Representative Christina Morales, Former State Representative Shawn Thierry, NAACP-Houston President Bishop James Dixon, Councilwoman Letitia Plummer, Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee, Former Congresswoman Erica Lee Carter, Former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, Former Candidate for State Rep. Angeanette "Angie" Thibodeaux, Community Activist Travis McGee, Community Actist Deric Muhammad, TSU Board Regent Dr. Richard Johnson, and former prizefighter turned Businessman Eric Carr, could make up a star-studded field of contenders.

According to the most recent U.S. Census, "The 5 largest ethnic groups in Congressional District 18, TX are Black or African American (Non-Hispanic) (31.4%), White (Hispanic) (17.8%), White (Non-Hispanic) (16.7%), Two+ (Hispanic) (12.8%), and Other (Hispanic) (12.7%).

43.3% of the households in Congressional District 18, Texas, reported speaking non-English at home as their primary shared language. This does not consider the potential multi-lingual nature of households; it only considers the primary self-reported language spoken by all household members.

Sylvester Turner (Democrat) received 151,834 votes, for 69.42% of the vote. His Republican opponent received 66,810 votes, for 30.55% of the vote. A bonified "STEALTH CANDIDATE" like former State Rep. Shawn Thierry could legitimately receive over 100,000 votes in a race for the 18th Congressional District if she were to marry a strong base of MAGA, "Make America Great Again," patriots with African American voters who are sick and tired of being played for fools by the "ELLIS/TURNER/LEE" political regime members.

Former State Representative Jarvis Johnson, State Representative Ron Reynolds, State Representative Jolanda Jones, State Representative Christina Morales, Former State Representative Shawn Thierry, NAACP-Houston President Bishop James Dixon, Councilwoman Letitia Plummer, Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee, Former Congresswoman Erica Lee Carter, Former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, Former Candidate for State Rep. Angeanette "Angie" Thibodeaux, Community Activist Travis McGee, Community Actist Deric Muhammad, TSU Board Regent Dr. Richard Johnson, and former prizefighter turned Businessman Eric Carr, could make up a star-studded field of contenders.

Whenever Governor Greg Abbott calls the "SPECIAL ELECTION" for the 18th Congressional District, you will see a low voter turnout like what you would see in a primary race. And if there are (10) or (15) Democratic candidates running in the race, you will see a situation where the Democratic vote will be splintered. If you look at the "TOTAL" above, what you see is that only 23,629 Democrats turned out to vote for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and only 14,668 Democrats turned out for Amanda Edwards last year when they faced off.

66,810 votes were received by Lana Centonze (Republican) in the 2024 Presidential Election race for the 18th Congressional District, running against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s successor, Sylvester Turner.

58,033 votes were received by Wendell Champion (Republican) in the 2020 Presidential Election for the 18th Congressional District, running against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

48,306 votes were received by Lori Bartley (Republican) in the 2016 presidential election for the 18th Congressional District, which was run against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

47,835 votes were received by Maria Dunn (Republican) in the 2024 “UNEXPIRED TERM” Presidential Election for the 18th Congressional District, running against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s daughter Erica Lee.

44,015 votes were received by Sean Seibert (Republican) in the 2012 presidential election for the 18th Congressional District, which was run against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

40,941 votes were received by Carmen Maria Montiel (Republican) in the 2022 Midterm Election for the 18th Congressional District, running against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

38,368 votes were received by Ava Pate (Republican) in the 2018 Midterm Election for the 18th Congressional District, running against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

21,257 votes were received by Kevin O. Dural (Republican) in the 2024 “UNEXPIRED TERM” Presidential Election for the 18th Congressional District, running against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s daughter Erica Lee.

Amanda Edwards Doesn't Have the Numbers Some GOP Candidates Have in the 18th Congressional District of Texas

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

The people of the 18th Congressional District don’t like former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards enough for Edwards to turn out to vote specifically for her in the “SPECIAL ELECTION” for the vacant congressional seat. How can I make this claim?

Amanda Edwards faced off against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in the Democratic Party Primary in the predominantly African American district where, at the time, 417,430 people were registered to vote in the district.

How many people turned out to vote for Amanda Edwards?

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in the Democratic Party Primary, only 14,668 of the registered 417,430 voters turned out to vote for Amanda Edwards – that is a fact.

Before you talk about how powerful Congresswoman Shiela Jackson Lee was, only 23,629 of the registered 417,430 voters turned out to vote for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

We can argue that the contest between Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards was a Democratic Party Primary and not a general election, but that’s beside the point.

If you look at past Midterm and Presidential elections, the number of people who voted for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee versus the number of registered voters in the 18th Congressional District was dismal.

Sure, a handful of people loved Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Still, most 18th Congressional District voters tolerated her and did not flock to the polls to cast their votes for her.

DEMOCRATS MUST BE CAREFUL…

Dr. Richard Johnson, III, and former State Rep. Shawn Thierry have already been vetted and approved by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

It is unclear when Governor Greg Abbott is going to set a date for the upcoming “SPECIAL ELECTION” to fill the void left after the untimely death of Congressman Sylvester Turner. However, nothing in the U.S. Constitution requires Gov. Abbott to be in a hurry to call the “SPECIAL ELECTION” to fill the vacancy.

Things would be much easier for Gov. Abbott if he could appoint one of his favorite African American conservatives (Dr. Richard Johnson or Attorney Shawn Thierry) to finish the remainder of Congressman Turner’s term, which expires in January 2027.

VETTED ALREADY BY THE GOVERNOR…

On Monday, February 6, 2023, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Richard A. Johnson, III, Ed.D., to the Texas Southern University Board of Regents for a term expiring on February 1, 2029.

According to the Governor’s website, “Richard A. Johnson, III, Ed.D. of Houston is the director of the Booker T. Washington Initiative at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. During the 85th and 86th Texas Legislatures, he served as a chief of staff and a senior policy analyst for a Texas House of Representatives member. Johnson was an educator for over 20 years and has extensive experience in teaching and research. He is a former member and vice president of the Houston Chapter of the Texas Association of Black Psychologists, a former member of the American Psychological Association, Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education, Texas Association of Black School Educators, National Academic Advising Association, and the Houston Business and Professional Men’s Club. He is a member of the Wiley College and Texas Southern University Alumni associations and a life member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts in History and Government from Wiley College, a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, and a Doctor of Education in Education Administration from Texas Southern University. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Army after college, obtaining the rank of sergeant.”

On Monday, January 13, 2025, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Shawn Thierry to the Texas Juvenile Justice Board for a term that will expire on February 1, 2029.

In case you don’t remember, former State Rep. Shawn Thierry fled from the Democratic Party after she was allegedly sexually harassed, bullied, and tormented by a Harris County Democratic Party Precinct Chair named Kay Shepard, who represents Precinct 30 in Harris County, Texas.

According to Governor Abbott’s website, “The Board is charged with developing and implementing rules to govern the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.”

“Shawn Thierry of Houston is an attorney and a four-term Texas Legislator serving House District 146. During her time in the Texas Legislature, she served on several committees, including the Juvenile Justice and Family Issues Committee. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Houston Bar Association and a volunteer for the Houston Food Bank. Thierry received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Howard University and a Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law,” said Governor Abbott.

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, attorney and former State Rep. Shawn Thierry was named Executive Director for Policy and Counsel at the prestigious Texas Southern University.

“The newly established role will serve in the Office of Board Relations alongside the Executive Director for Board Relations,” stated their website.

According to TSU’s website, “In this role, Thierry will advise the Board of Regents on federal, state, and local policy issues, coordinate special projects, and provide strategic and legal counsel. Thierry is the second veteran state legislator hired by TSU this academic year, joining her former Texas House of Representatives colleague, Dr. James White, who serves as Vice President for Governmental Affairs and Civic Engagement.”

GAMESMANSHIP OF THE GOVERNOR…

The 119th Congress began on January 3, 2025, and will not end until January 2027. That said, House Speaker Mike Johnson and President Donald J. Trump would likely be the vast benefactors if Governor Greg Abbott drags his feet on the matter unfolding with the current vacancy in the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

President Donald J. Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson are running into issues with a couple of “GOP MEMBERS” of the United States Congress.

Currently, there are (218) Republican Members serving in the United States Congress. And there are (214) Democratic Members serving in the United States Congress, which is a razor-thin margin for passing legislation.

There are (3) Open Congressional seats in the United States Congress. However, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, two of the “OPEN SEATS” in Congress will be filled.

The 1st Congressional District of Florida, which Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz held, will be filled with the holding of a “SPECIAL ELECTION” to fill the seat. The 6th Congressional District that Republican Congressman Mike Waltz held will also be filled by having a “SPECIAL ELECTION” on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

The third and remaining “OPEN SEAT” in the United States Congress is the 18th Congressional District seat, which became vacant after the untimely death of the late Congressman Sylvester Turner, who passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

So, of the three “OPEN SEATS” in the United States Congress, only one of the seats is a lean Democrat, which means that to hold the seat, Democrats had better be smart.

Can a Republican flip the 18th Congressional District from “BLUE” to “RED” in the upcoming “SPECIAL ELECTION” when Governor Greg Abbott calls it?

If Democrats load up the “SPECIAL ELECTION” field with (15) Democratic candidates or (20) Democratic candidates, a lone “GOP CANDIDATE” could split the group.

Once in a “RUNOFF ELECTION,” it is likely that the right kind of African American “GOP CANDIDATE” with cross-over appeal could galvanize, mobilize, and unite MAGA “Make American Great Again” voters with disgruntled, fed up, African American voters thirsty for change.

A candidate like Dr. Richard Johnson, III, or former state Rep. Shawn Thierry would be ideal because they’ve already been vetted and approved by Governor Greg Abbott and appointed to coveted positions of authority.

I’ve identified a few conservatives who could run an extremely competitive race as a lone “GOP CANDIDATE” in a field of (15) to (20) Democratic Candidates in the upcoming “SPECIAL ELECTION” for the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

66,810 votes were received by Lana Centonze (Republican) in the 2024 presidential election race for the 18th Congressional District, which was run against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s successor, Sylvester Turner.

40,941 votes were received by Carmen Maria Montiel (Republican) in the 2022 Midterm Election for the 18th Congressional District, running against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

44,015 votes were received by Sean Seibert (Republican) in the 2012 presidential election for the 18th Congressional District, which was run against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

14,688 votes were received by Amanda Edwards (Democrat) in the 2024 Democratic Party Primary for the 18th Congressional District, running against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT…

Many local political consultants and community “STAKEHOLDERS” believe that former Houston City Councilwoman Amanda Edwards could emerge victorious against a potential field of Democrats like Jarvis Johnson, Shawn Thierry, Erica Lee Carter, Jolanda Jones, Christina Morales, Amanda Edwards, Angeanette “Angie” Thibodeaux, Bishop James Dixon, Travis McGee, Deric Muhammad, Ronald E. Reynolds, Letitia Plummer, Eric Carr, Dr. Richard Johnson, III, and Christian Menefee – but I beg to differ.

All we know about former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards is that in a race for the 18th Congressional District during the Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Democratic Party Primary, only 14,668 voters from the 18th Congressional District supported her candidacy.

What you have to remember is that there are over 417,430 registered voters who live in the 18th Congressional District of Texas. What does this mean?

What I’m trying to get you to understand is that only 402,762 of the 417,430 registered voters who live in the 18th Congressional District did not get excited about going to the polls to cast their vote for Amanda Edwards during the Tuesday, March 5, 2024, which means that, if she doesn’t develop a better strategy this time around she could finish in the bottom of the pack when the “SPECIAL ELECTION” rolls around.

Commissioner Rodney Ellis has $6,414,367.00 in his campaign bank account, more than all of the sitting incumbent "DEMOCRATIC JUDGES" combined. However, the incumbent Democratic Judges are called upon to give the lion's share of the money donated to the Harris County Democratic Party. During the 2024 Presidential Election cycle, while more than a few Democratic Judges donated upwards of $50,000.00 to the Harris County Democratic Party out of their hard-earned campaign money, Commissioner Ellis only gave about $6,500.00 to the HCDP, which was nothing for a man with more than $6 million in his campaign account. (CLICK HERE) Please take a moment to view Commissioner Rodney Ellis's Campaign Finance Report.
