AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©
There’s no way to have a meaningful discussion about advancing the Black community forward without addressing the fact that we have some traitors, sell-outs, and token-Negroes, sitting in elected positions whom we must target and vote out of office at the earliest possible opportunity.
One such sell-out is a newly-appointed HCC Board Trustee named Renee Jefferson-Patterson, formerly Renee Jefferson-Smith, the predominantly African American (District II) representative on the Board of Trustees over at Houston Community College.
District II Board Trustee Renee Jefferson-Patterson has revealed her true identity after only being on the board for a few weeks. Last week’s vote revealed Renee Jefferson-Patterson as a traitor on the HCC Board of Trustees – that’s a fact.
While Mrs. Patterson is a Black woman, she’s neither concerned nor disturbed about the racially charged and discriminatory practices that plagued the HCCS under the tenure of former HCC Chancellor Dr. Cesar Maldonado.
Mrs. Patterson represents most Blacks (District II) on the north side of Houston. That said, I cannot for the life of me fathom why this Black woman did not vote to approve the racial discrimination settlement – what’s up with that?
How did this “TRAITOR” slither her way onto the HCC Board of Trustees anyway?
Mrs. Patterson was the only Black HCC Trustee who did not vote to approve the settlement. Did you hear me? Renee Jefferson-Patterson, formerly Renee Jefferson-Smith, was the only Black HCC Trustee who did not vote to settle the racial discrimination lawsuit.
Instead of taking a stance, Mrs. Patterson abstained, claiming she did not know enough about the controversy to approve the settlement. Where in the heck has this woman been living – under a rock? What in the heck is she talking about??? Is she a member of the Flinstone family or something? Has she been residing in Bedrock with Frede and Wilma for the last half-decade?
Renee Jefferson-Patterson is lying through her teeth – that’s a fact. She was lying when her last name was Smith, and she’s still lying today.
Listen. Suppose this “TRAITOR” did not know about the racial discord and discrimination against Blacks at Houston Community College under former Chancellor Dr. Cesar Maldonado. In that case, she is, in my opinion, “UNFIT” to serve on the HCCS Board of Trustees.
She knows full well what’s been going on – she’s lying.
Renee Jefferson-Patterson sided with the three female Hispanic Trustees to oppose the racial discrimination settlement – that’s the truth. And you can bet your bottom dollar that I will have a lot more to say about Renee Jefferson-Patterson’s “TRAITOROUS” tendencies in the future.
FIVE TRAILBLAZERS ON THE HCC BOARD…
The vote to approve the racial discrimination settlement last week came down to a 5 to 4 vote — with a majority of the Houston Community College trustees voting to settle all of the Black employee racial discrimination federal lawsuits in the courts for the last 5 years. However, the details of the massive settlement have not been publicly revealed.
In my opinion, this is an outstanding result because those Black employees articulated in their racial discrimination lawsuits what appears to be horrendous acts of discrimination perpetrated against them at the direction of former HCC Chancellor Dr. Cesar Maldonado.
Dr. Maldonado is no longer the chancellor after a small group of trailblazing trustees refused to renew his contract. After Dr. Maldonado’s removal, a courageous Black female chancellor named Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher has the HCCS headed in the right direction.
Along with a few trailblazing HCC Board Members, Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher appears to be up to the challenge of moving the College forward.
Did I mention that the HCC Board Trustee for District II, Renee Jefferson-Patterson, former Renee Jefferson-Smith, was a traitor? Don’t forget this fundamental fact.
On a more positive note, please be informed that Trustees Dr. Cynthia Lenton-Gary, Dr. Pretta Stallworth, Dave Wilson, Laolu Davies-Yemitan, and Sean Cheben all voted to approve the settlement and are “TRAILBLAZERS” in my opinion, NO, these five HCC Board Trustee are real-life heroes in my book.
Words can’t express how disappointed I am in the three Hispanic trustees — Monica Richart, Eva Loredo, and Adriana Tamez — all voted against settling the Black employees’ lawsuit, and the lone “TRAITOR” on the HCC Board of Trustees, Renee Jefferson-Patterson abstained.
No matter which side of the political aisle you’re standing on, issues of racism and discrimination should never be swept under the rug. And to me, such a vote along racial lines suggests there is a racial divide among the HCC Board Trustees — with Black trustees voting to move forward and the Hispanic HCC Board Trustee voting to protect the prior racist practices at Houston Community College with the assistance of Board Trustee Renee Jefferson-Patterson.
I applaud the good work of Lenton-Gary, Stallworth, Wilson, Davies-Yemitan, Cheben, and Dr. Ford-Fisher for their leadership and courage! That said, shame on the Hispanic trustees and their traitor-friend, I mean, trustee Patterson.
RACIAL DISCRIMINATION AT HCC…
A $100 million racial discrimination lawsuit was filed in Houston, Texas, on behalf of hundreds of Black former and present employees of Houston Community College (“HCC”). The suit was filed back on Friday, June 19, 2020 – Juneteenth — the anniversary date that enslaved Black people in Texas learned they had been freed from slavery two years earlier by President Abraham Lincoln. The lawsuit detailed a damning list of allegations about what was going on at Houston Community College under the leadership of Chancellor Cesar Maldonado and the Human Resources Director, Ms. Janet May.
According to the lawsuit, Dr. Cesar Maldonado accepted his position in 2014 with a Hispanic “preferential treatment” agenda. The suit contains an actual email chain created shortly after Maldonado’s appointment stating, “Now we [Hispanics] are going to receive preferential treatment.” The suit alleges that since Maldonado’s arrival, 90% of the long-time Black professionals at HCC have either been terminated or demoted.
In comparison, there has been a 50% increase in Hispanic hires and promotions. Shockingly, the suit claims that while 90% of tenured and experienced Black employees were displaced, only 10% of similarly tenured Whites were displaced.
The lawsuit continued with a disturbing list of tactics used by Maldonado and May to get rid of Blacks, such as telling a Black male that a white woman’s word was more truthful than his word, that if a White person complains, believe them, but if a Black person complains doubt them unless corroborated; “padding” Black employee personnel files with false complaints to be used later as pretexts for firing them; if a Black person is accused of sexual harassment, believe the complainant—but if a Black person makes the complaint corroborate; using the term “transformation” as a cover for getting rid of Black employees, and forcing Black employees to take leaves of absence without cause to later use as grounds to terminate the Black employee.
Ms. Brown was courageously represented in the lawsuit by Benjamin L. Hall, III, the former Houston City Attorney under Mayor Bob Lanier and former mayoral candidate. Hall stated, “Ms. Brown is one of the more recent casualties of what appears to be a modern-day Jim Crow environment at Houston Community College for Black executives. She is brave enough to stand up to power and speak the truth."
