2018 Mexican American Bar Association of Houston Endorsement Recipients for the Tuesday, November 6, 2018 Midterm Election

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

One of the things I love most about publishing endorsement lists like the one released last week by (MABAH) The Mexican American Bar Association of Houston is that it’s a non-partisan endorsement list. This means that the group issuing the endorsements didn't just go down the potential list of nominees and select individuals based on their political party affiliation. Now, while I don’t agree with every choice made by MABAH, I do respect and appreciate the boldness and thoughtfulness that went into their decision-making process. (CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT OUR LIST OF 2018 CANDIDATES WHO VALUE EVERY HARRIS COUNTY VOTE) In case you don’t know, according to their website, years ago, a small group of Mexican-American attorneys and law students would meet informally to discuss issues unique to the Spanish-speaking attorney. More and more often, the purpose of these meetings was to discuss legal remedies to the many injustices and problems facing the Hispanic community in Houston and throughout Texas. One April evening in 1972, a formal meeting was held to organize an association long overdue: THE MEXICAN AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION – which is widely considered as one of the largest Hispanic legal organizations in Texas with a diversity of talent, expertise, and leadership.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT MABAH

MABAH is proud of the diverse nationalities of its members: Puerto Rican, Argentinean, Mexican, Cuban, Guatemalan, Mexican-American and non-Hispanic. It is truly representative of the Hispanic Community of Metropolitan Houston, and as dynamic. Tradition and established recognition are the reasons MABAH has chosen to remain known as The Mexican American Bar Association. Membership is open to any licensed attorney, members of the judiciary, or graduate of an accredited law school.
