- BISHOP JAMES DIXON -

Bishop James Dixon, the president of the Houston Branch of the (NAACP), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, will be holding a press conference on Thursday, February 15, 2024, to address a serious matter involving the treatment of African American female judicial candidates running for judgeships.

Houston Chronicle 2024 Primary Endorsements Are Under Scrutiny; Press Conference Called by the Houston NAACP

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

In my opinion, courtrooms should not be used as places to settle political scores or as political playgrounds to win elections without input from voters. "Let the People Decide - That's Democracy!" is the slogan being used on a press release that was sent out by the local branch of the (NAACP) National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

DATE: Thursday, February 15, 2024
TIME: 4:00 PM
LOCATION: NAACP Branch Headquarters
2002 Wheeler Street
Houston, Texas

From what I understand, complaints and concerns are steadily flowing into the local branch of the NAACP Branch, related to how several African American women judges and judicial candidates are being unjustly targeted and unjustly publicly discredited.

"In 2024, we are still fighting for equality and equity," stated the press release. "The kind of public attacks these competent and courageous women have faced is unacceptable and unconstitutional."

The press release went on to state, "While the actions of the Houston NAACP do not constitute an endorsement of either candidate, we are clearly expressing our objection to the maltreatment of these women who are all African American."

According to the Houston NAACP, "This is bigger than one election. We must protect the principles of Democracy."

Houston NAACP President, Dr. James Dixon, attorney TaKasha Francis, a Democratic candidate running for District Judge, 152nd Civil District Court, attorney Amber Boyd-Cora, a Democratic candidate running for Justice, 1st Court of Appeals, Place 9, and Judge Erica Hughes, a Democratic Candidate running for District Judge, 151st Civil District Court will be in attendance at the press conference.

State Rep. Jolanda Jones (HD-147), and State Rep. Ron Reynolds (HD-27), the chairman of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus will also be in attendance.

"CLOSING THOUGHTS."

We must make it our business as a group to discontinue the practice of casting ballots for people who do not value, respect, and appreciate our vote. That being said, you are strongly encouraged to do your own research, and then use our "ENDORSEMENT SLATE" as a guide to assist you in the races where you are not sure which candidates to vote for in the "DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY" and "REPUBLICAN PRIMARY" on Super Tuesday.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee will be tough to beat, but she's beatable with the right strategy. You can "CLICK HERE" to view our full slate of endorsements.
