Leaders Like Travis McGee, Sr. has Sunnyside Leading Hiram Clarke, Acres Homes and Kashmere in 2017 Early Voter Turnout

Travis McGee, Sr., community leader and owner of the Hall of Fame Barbershop, located at 4800 Pederson in Houston, Texas is encouraging all registered voters in Sunnyside to vote on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. In case you don't know, there are two races voters in Sunnyside should be concerned with on the 2017 General and Special Elections ballot.

HBC MAGAZINE© REPORTS

As Election Day for the Tuesday, November 7, 2017, General and Special Elections in the Houston area draws nearer, urban voting hotbeds that have traditionally proved to be reliable voting blocks for African American candidates appear to be sitting this election cycle out for some reason. But why are African Americans staying at home? You would think that voter engagement and interest would be at an all-time-high with all the "supposed" outrage over President Donald Trump, the National Football League “NATIONAL ANTHEM PROTESTS”, and Houston Texans, owner Bob McNair putting his "proverbial" foot in his mouth by saying: "we can't have the inmates running the prison."  In case you don't know, McNair's comments prompted more than 30 of his players to take a knee, and several others to remain seated during the national anthem before last Sunday’s game on (October 29, 2017) against the Seattle Seahawks in protest.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: Tuesday, November 7, 2017, is the ideal time for the African American community to show folks that we’re more than just talk -- and idle threats. Look, protesting, marching, and grand-standing all have their place; but flexing political muscle at the voting box in local, statewide, and national elections are the most potent, effective and sure-fire way for African Americans to usher in the change we wish to see in our world.

Durrel K. Douglas Believes we need more out-of-the-box thinkers running for office in the Black Community in future elections:

"If we TRULY want to increase voter turnout in the Black community, we must think outside the box. We must bring a level of excitement. Think about a football halftime show at Texas Southern, versus one at U of H. There's a difference.

We must bring INTEREST back to this arena, we must stop voting just because they've "been there" so long, and we must make it fresh..."

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "I've been studying local and national elections for over 26 years, and the video below produced by the Gerry Wayne Monroe for HISD District IX is very, "THOUGHT PROVOKING" and informative. It also represents what out-of-the-box thinking looks and feels like. While I'm not sure of Gerry Monroe's chances in this election; I can't wait to see what he'll come up with if he's able to win on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, or force a December runoff...WAY TO GO BRO." The only sad part about the race for HISD Trustee for District IX is that none of the candidates in this race are asking for our vote, prayers, and support on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at this time.

DR. KARLA BROWN IS THE RIGHT CHOICE IN THE RACE FOR HISD TRUSTEE DISTRICT IX SAYS COUNCILMAN LARRY V. GREEN AND OTHER HOUSTON AREA LEADERS!

HOUSTON BUSINESS CONNECTIONS MAGAZINE: "We are not endorsing any candidates in the Tuesday, November 7, 2017, General Election. However, if we were issuing endorsements during this election cycle Dr. Pretta VanDible Stallworth would certainly be our "RECOMMENDED CANDIDATE" in the race for HCCS Board Trustee for District IX. So, should a December 2017 runoff election be needed to decide the winner in HCCS District IX between Dr. Pretta VanDible StallworthEugene "Gene" Pack and David Jaroszewski we plan to strongly encouraging our readers to vote for Pretta VanDible Stallworth no matter which candidate she faces."
