Judge Maria T. Jackson Beat Mary McFaden by 63,309 Votes to Win Re-Election in the Race for Judge, 339th District Court

DISTRICT JUDGE, 339TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT
Maria T. Jackson

Maria T. (Terri) Jackson was endorsed by the Houston Chronicle and Houston Business Connections Newspaper in the race for District Judge, 339th Judicial District on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Judge Maria T. (Terri) Jackson won this race over Mary McFaden.

*RACE RESULTS:

Mary McFaden (Republican) received 600,896 votes for 47.50% of the vote. Maria T. (Terri) Jackson - Incumbent (Democrat) received 664,205 votes for 52.50% of the vote according to the “Unofficial Cumulative Report” published by the Harris County Clerk.

*RACE ANALYSIS BY AUBREY R. TAYLOR

"In the race for District Judge, for the 339th Judicial District Court Judge Mari T. (Terri) Jackson (Democrat) benefited somewhat from the fact that the Harris County Democratic Party won the straight-ticket voting battle by 70,035 votes over the Harris County Republican Party. The Democrats received 471,290 straight-ticket votes countywide, while the Republicans only received 401,255 straight-ticket votes countywide. In the end, the margin of victory for Judge Maria T. (Terri) Jackson was 63,309 votes. This means that Mary McFaden (Republican) made up 6,726 votes with non-straight ticket voters; but the deficit she faced after the straight-ticket voting was just too much for her to overcome," says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Newspaper.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "Candidates endorsed by Houston Business Connections Newspaper out performed those endorsed by the Houston Chronicle editorial board on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in the General Election."
