Democratic Early In-Person Voters Are Still Outpacing Republican Party In-Person Early Voters through the First Four Days of Early Voting in Harris County, Texas

The early voting turnout is extremely low on both sides thus far. However, it is remarkable that in-person early voting Democrats are still outpacing in-person early voting Republicans through the first four days of early voting in Harris County, Texas during a cycle that Republicans traditionally dominate. Get this, over 16,110 Democrats have gone to the polls to vote early by personal appearance during the first four days of early voting. Comparatively speaking, 16,053 Republicans have gone to the polls to vote early so far. Today marks the beginning of the 7:00AM to 7:00PM early voting cycle. So don't be surprised if Democrats flex a little more muscle during this upcoming week. But keep in mind, that when you throw in the "MAIL-IN BALLOTS" the Republican Party Primary "VOTER PARTICIPATION" is still greater than that of the Democrats in Harris County, Texas. Overall, the "TOTAL HARRIS COUNTY EARLY VOTER PARTICIPATION" for Republicans stands at 28,583 total votes through the first four days of early voting. On the contrary, the "TOTAL HARRIS COUNTY EARLY VOTER PARTICIPATION" for Democrats stands at 24,954 total votes through the first four days of early voting.

On Tuesday, 3,833 Democrats voted early by personal appearance in Harris County, Texas. On Wednesday, 3,143 Democrats voted early by personal appearance in Harris County, Texas. On Thursday, 3,920 Democrats voted early by personal appearance in Harris County, Texas. On Friday, 5,214 Democrats voted early by personal appearance in Harris County, Texas.

Many folks are wondering which party is going to win the battle for Harris County on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. While it’s a little too early to answer that question – a quick look at the early voting turnout numbers shows that both parties have some work to do in terms of "OVERALL" engagement and voter mobilization. However, the fact that Harris County Democrats are going to the polls to vote early in greater numbers through the first three days of early voting shows that Democrats must be taken seriously in this pivotal primary election cycle. 

HARRIS COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY EARLY VOTING TURNOUT THROUGH THE FIRST THREE DAYS OF EARLY VOTING

On Tuesday, 3,833 Democrats voted early by personal appearance. On Wednesday, 3,143 Democrats voted early by personal appearance. On Thursday, 3,920 Democrats voted early by personal appearance.

COMPARATIVELY SPEAKING THE REPUBLICANS ARE STILL AHEAD IN THE OVERALL VOTER TURNOUT THROUGH THE FIRST THREE DAYS OF EARLY VOTING

When you combine the "MAIL-IN BALLOTS" and the in-person voting, the Republican Primary participation is still greater than the Democratic Primary early voting participation. Comparatively speaking, the total Republican Primary early voting participation for Harris County through the first three days is 22,339 votes. The total Democratic Primary participation through the first three days is 18,537 votes.

Only 3,050 registered voters went to the polls on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 to vote early (in-person) on the second day of “Early Voting” for the Tuesday, November 7, 2017 General and Special Elections in Harris County. Only 307 mail-in ballots were returned. This means, only 3,357 registered voters cared enough about this election to participate. To put this into perspective, according to the most recent numbers published by the Texas Secretary of State, Harris County has well over 2,234,671 registered voters. The turnout for an election of this magnitude on the first day of early voting was dismal in Harris County.
