THE KEY RUNOFF CANDIDATES

The Saturday, June 10, 2017 Runoff Election Involving Mayor Tom Reid versus Quentin Wiltz and Woody Owens versus Dalia Kasseb in Pearland, Texas is "NO" Ordinary "NONPARTISAN" Municipal Election

REPORT by AUBREY R. TAYLOR

Make no mistake about it. What’s supposed to be a "NONPARTISAN" citywide election in Pearland, Texas is more likened to a "PARTISAN" Presidential Election or Midterm Election if you ask me. In case you’re a newbie to politics: the term nonpartisan is generally used in a couple different ways. Oftentimes you’ll see it used by some government agencies (such as the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Election Commission) when they describe groups, or perhaps individuals who do not support any political party or candidate based on their political affiliation. However, you will also see the term used when referring to groups or entities who “DO NOT SUPPORT ANY PARTICULAR POLITICAL IDEOLOGY”but I digress.

MEET THE DEMOCRATIC TEAM OF DALIA AND QUENTIN

THE BLUE TEAM: The data posted below in our "POWER RANKING" for each "VOTER PRECINCT" in Pearland will show how the team effort of Dalia Kasseb and Quentin Wiltz has earned both these Democrats a place on the Saturday, June 10, 2017 Runoff Election ballot in the race for Mayor of Pearland (Quentin Wiltz), and Pearland City Council Position #7 (Dalia Kasseb) respectively. Based on the information reviewed in the Brazoria County Clerk's "Canvass Reports" the data below will also show how these two candidates are running in tandem in each of the "VOTER PRECINCTS" in Pearland, Texas. If you take a moment to review each "POWER RANKING" very closely, you should also be able to clearly see that these two Democratic candidates are pulling votes from pretty much the same voter pool in each voter precinct. Finally, based on our research we are expecting for TEAM WILTZ/KASSEB to either win, or run very competitive races in the following VOTER PRECINCTS: 29, 44, 50, 54, 59, 60, 62, 67, 762, and 1134 respectively.

THE NONPARTISAN MAYOR OF PEARLAND

THE RED TEAM: We have Mayor Tom Reid, the current Mayor of Pearland, Texas listed as a member of "THE RED TEAM" by default in the "POWER RANKINGS" below -- partly because of the "POLITICAL CLIMATE" that has evolved during this particular "ELECTION CYCLE" in Pearland, Texas. But let's be clear: MAYOR TOM REID IS NOT RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION AS A REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT. MAYOR TOM REID IS RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION AS A NONPARTISAN CANDIDATE SEEKING THE VOTE, PRAYERS AND SUPPORT OF EVERY REGISTERED VOTER IN PEARLAND, TEXAS. However, Mayor Reid has found himself embroiled in a "DOG-FIGHT" to keep his reputation, legacy, and re-election bid intact/upbeat, in what has clearly become a very nasty, and very "PARTISAN" election cycle.

A VERY DIVERSE SUPPORTER BASE

Mayor Tom Reid's base of support (as made evident) in our "POWER RANKINGS" is much broader and more diverse than any other candidate on the Saturday, June 10, 2017 Runoff Election ballot in Pearland, Texas. As a testament to Mayor Tom Reid's very broad and diverse supporter base he received 3,710 votes -- that's more than any other candidate who will appear on the Saturday, June 10, 2017 Runoff Election ballot in Pearland, Texas. Quentin Wiltz received 3,461 in his quest to unseat Mayor Tom Reid back in the Saturday, May 6, 2017 General Election. And in the race for Pearland City Council Position #7: Dalia Kasseb received 2,958, and her runoff opponent Woody Owens received 1,531 respectively. With that said, Mayor Tom Reid as a MEMBER OF THE RED TEAM SHOULD WIN THE FOLLOWING VOTER PRECINCTS: 12, 13, 26, 27, 28, 36, 46, 47, 51, 52, 61, 537, and 654 respectively.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Mayor Tom Reid released the statement below back on Monday, May 22, 2017 via his facebook account in an effort to explain his position on candidates bringing "PARTISAN POLITICS" into "NONPARTISAN ELECTIONS".

MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TOM REID

“Please let me reiterate that as your Mayor, I do not and will not endorse any candidate seeking elected office in our city. As it is my duty to support everyone in our city government, I may one day have to work alongside these individuals and want them to know that I support each of them equally.

I encourage every citizen to get out there, get involved, get educated, and get to the polls on June 10. Thank you all for your continued support. I look forward to working with you to Keep Pearland Moving Forward."

MAYOR REID CARES ABOUT THE FUTURE OF PEARLAND

MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TOM REID: “It doesn't matter what town you are born in, what state or country. When you are a child, you are curious about your environment. You are building sandcastles in the sand. You are celebrating birthdays with your friends, learning to swim, running in the park, throwing rocks and walking your furry best friend. I am happy you are doing it in Pearland.”

THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE WOODY OWENS

THE OTHER RED TEAM MEMBER: In case you don't know: Woody Owens a "RED TEAM MEMBER" is the only candidate on the Saturday, June 10, 2017 Runoff Election ballot in Pearland, Texas who has "REPUBLICAN" listed as his primary "POLITICAL AFFILIATION" on his facebook account. Woody Owens is a proud Republican -- and there's nothing wrong with that.

WOODY OWENS HAS A VERY STRONG CONSERVATIVE BASE HE NEEDS TO GET TO THE POLLS FOR HIM TO HAVE A SHOT

What a lot of folks are trying to label as racism -- whereas Woody Owens is concerned -- could end up being nothing at all. And "NO", Woody Owens is not my client -- at this time. Look guys, back in the Tuesday, November 8, 2016 "PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION" the "REPUBLICAN TEAM" of DONALD J. TRUMP/MIKE PENCE gained 72,791 votes or (60.07%) of the vote over the "DEMOCRATIC TEAM" of HILLARY CLINTON/TIM KAINE in Brazoria County -- so Woody Owens isn't as big of a longshot as some people think he is in this race.. Keep in mind that the HILLARY CLINTON/TIM KAINE team could only muster 43,200 votes or (35.65%) of the vote in Brazoria County.

CATERING TO HIS CONSERVATIVE BASE

The information published in our "POWER RANKINGS" below will show that a large portion of Woody Owens' support base comes directly from "REPUBLICAN LEANING VOTER PRECINCTS" in the City of Pearland, Texas -- and rightfully so -- he's a Republican candidate and his opponent is running as a Democratic candidate. Unlike Mayor Tom Reid, who has a much broader range of Democratic, Republican and Independent support -- which is customary for a "NONPARTISAN ELECTION" -- Woody Owens finds himself heavily trailing his Democratic rival in her quest to make history by becoming the first Muslim to ever be elected to public office in Brazoria County. So, his only "CLEAR PATH TO VICTORY" is to cater to his base -- which happens to be a very unique target audience and demographic. So, if he can get his base to turnout for him -- it could give him a totally different voter base that "NO OTHER CANDIDATE ON THE BALLOT" will be able to engage or reach -- "QUITE LIKE WOODY CAN" -- especially in a conservative-leaning county like Brazoria County. Finally, this approach could actually play very well for Woody Owens and in fact: Mayor Tom Reid too -- "BY DEFAULT" -- especially since this "NONPARTISAN ELECTION" has become so "PARTISAN" in several different key voter precincts. With that said, Woody Owens as a MEMBER OF THE RED TEAM SHOULD WIN THE FOLLOWING VOTER PRECINCTS: 12, 13, 26, 27, 28, 36, 46, 47, 51, 52, 61, 537, and 654 respectively.

LET'S NOT FORGET THAT BRAZORIA COUNTY IS ONE OF THE MOST CONSERVATIVE COUNTIES IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

BRINGING "PARTISAN POLITICS" INTO A "NONPARTISAN" MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN A COUNTY LIKE BRAZORIA COUNTY IS A RISKY PROPOSITION FOR THE BLUE TEAM: However, before we get to the "POWER RANKINGS" I would like to congratulate Mayor Tom Reid, Quentin Wiltz, Dalia Kasseb and Woody Owens on making it into the Saturday, June 10, 2017 Runoff Election in Pearland, Texas. I also want to point out the fact that it is my personal opinion that: "PARTISAN POLITICS" have no place in local "NONPARTISAN MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS". And finally, I want to remind you that not even former President Barack Obama could crack the Brazoria County code back during his “HISTORIC PRESIDENTIAL” run on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. So, for those of you who don't remember, he lost Brazoria County by a very large number of percentage points: Barack Obama/Joe Biden 36,480 for (34.76%) and John McCain/Sarah Palin 67,515 for (64.34%) -- Yes, it was that bad. However, it would be unfair for me not to mention that the Obama/Biden train did roll on to victory and claim the White House that year. With that said, if Quentin Wiltz and Dalia Kasseb are somehow successful in Pearland, Texas -- everyone will be calling them smart; but if they lose, folks will be saying they used the wrong approach or strategy. I'm sure you already know that people like to "SECOND-GUESS", and they sure as hell love to jump onto the "BANDWAGON" after a candidate wins. However, at the end of the day, it may come down to a case where Quentin Wiltz and Dalia Kasseb were simply running for office in the "WRONG PLACE" at the "WRONG TIME" for the "WRONG POLITICAL PARTY" -- and they simply just didn't have the numbers on their side to win; but we'll have to wait until Saturday, June 10, 2017 to find out!

I hope you find the "POWER RANKINGS" below useful.

TEAM WILTZ/KASSEB STRONGHOLD PRECINCT - #1134

DALIA KASSEB AND QUENTIN WILTZ SHOULD WIN THIS PRECINCT

PRECINCT 1134 (HAS 2,312 REGISTERED VOTERS). Expect for Quentin Wiltz and Dalia Kasseb to both win this precinct by very large margins of victory over their opponents. Back in the General Election Quentin Wiltz beat Mayor Tom Reid (176 TO 40) in this precinct. Dalia Kasseb blew away her field of five (5) fellow competitors running for Pearland City Council Position #7 in this precinct by gaining 149 votes. Her closest competitor here was Sherry Stockwell who gained 40 votes.

PRECINCT 1134 – BLUE TEAM POWER RANKING

TEAM QUENTIN WILTZ/DALIA KASSEB had 176(WILTZ)+149(KASSEB)=325 registered voters who actually voted specifically for them back in the Saturday, May 6, 2017 General Election in their respective races. So we have their total team strength estimated at a 325 (POWER RANKING) in PRECINCT 1134 going into the Saturday, June 10, 2017 Runoff Election in Pearland, Texas. NOTE: Winning this particular precinct should be relatively easy for Quentin Wiltz and Dalia Kasseb. VOTER POOL: There are 2,312 registered voters at play in this voter precinct.

PRECINCT 1134 – RED TEAM POWER RANKING

TEAM TOM REID/WOODY OWENS had 40(REID)+21(OWENS) = 61 registered voters who actually voted specifically for them back in the Saturday, May 6, 2017 General Election in their respective races. So we have their total team strength estimated at a 61 (POWER RANKING) in PRECINCT 1134 going into the Saturday, June 10, 2017 Runoff Election in Pearland, Texas. NOTE: It would take a miracle for Mayor Tom Reid or Woody Owens to even come close to winning this precinct. VOTER POOL: There are 2,312 registered voters at play in this voter precinct.
