Dr. Kendall L. Baker a 2019 Candidate for Mayor of Houston Plans to Honor the Living Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on MLK Day

Dr. Kendall L. Baker will be attending several events leading up to Monday, January 21, 2019, to honor the living legacy and contributions of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to the civil rights movement. Dr. Baker will also be striving to achieve his dream of becoming Houston's next Mayor in November of 2019 when he faces off against current Mayor Sylvester Turner, Businessman Bill King, Attorney Tony Buzbee, Businesswoman Demetria Smith, and a host of other candidates dreaming of becoming Houston's next Commander in Chief.

Bill King is serving on the MLK Grande Parade Advisory Board and as one of the Co-Grand Marshals of the MLK Grande Parade on Monday, January 21, 2019. Tony Buzbee is also serving as a Co-Grand Marshal of the MLK Grande Parade on Monday, January 21, 2019. Mayor Sylvester Turner is supporting what he's billed as Houston's "Original" MLK Parade on Monday, January 21, 2019. In case you don't know, Bill King, Tony Buzbee, Dr. Kendall L. Baker, Booker T (the hall-of-fame wrestler-- possibly), Demetria Smith (a 2015 candidate for mayor), and a host of others are expected to challenge Mayor Sylvester Turner in the November 2019 race for Mayor of Houston, Texas.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions. I’m elated that the City of Houston will be participating in the 2019 MLK Festivities, but disappointed to announce that once again, there will be two competing Martin Luther King, Jr. Parades in the Bayou City on Monday, January 21, 2019. In case you don’t know, Mayor Sylvester Turner announced his support for the 41st MLK Parade back on Thursday, July 12, 2018, saying that the City of Houston will partner with the Black Heritage Society, which organized the nation’s first Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade more than 40 years ago. So, if you would like to attend what Mayor Sylvester Turner is considering HOUSTON’S OFFICIAL MLK PARADE” it’s scheduled to start at Houston City Hall at the corner of Smith and McKinney at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 21, 2019 rain or shine!

THE 2019 MLK GRANDE PARADE

While some Houstonians will be joining Mayor Sylvester Turner in support of the 41st Annual MLK Day Parade, many other Houstonians will be in Midtown celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the MLK Grande Parade which, according to it’s founder is the third largest Parade in the United States of America behind only The Rose Parade and The Macy’s Day Parade. This year, the organizers of the MLK Grande Parade are expecting more than 300,000 spectators with a viewing audience of more than 4,000,000 according to their website. And just in case you don’t know, over 30 Marching Bands are expected to participate in the 25th Annual MLK Grande Parade scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 21, 2019, at the corner of San Jacinto Street and Elgin Street.

2019 MLK GRANDE PARADE ADVISORY BOARD

The 2019 members of the 25th MLK Grande Parade advisory board are Dorchelle Perez, Jade She Jams, Bill King, Estrada Jon Paul, Dr. Richard Johnson, III, Erica Tirado, and Krishna Vavilala according to their website.

2019 MLK GRANDE PARADE CO-GRAND MARSHALS

The 2019 MLK Grande Parade Co-Grand Marshals are Bill King, Tony Buzbee, Kim Gagne, and Rushion McDonald according to information published on their website.

Please allow these "HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS" to serve as "PROOF POSITIVE" that your dream can come true too! And I implore you to remember these timeless words spoken forth by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that still ring true today: "Everybody can be great ... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love."
