Judges Like Donna Roth Take An Oath to Administer Justice Fairly to the Rich and Poor Alike When They're Elected

QUANELL X: "Judge Donna Roth of the 295th Harris County District Court has the authority to assure that the Southwest Inn billboard is repaired and up to city code. As of 2022, she hasn’t done anything to rectify the situation. She has a duty to ensure the safety of Harris County Citizens and a moral obligation to the Houston First Responders and loved ones of the deceased firefighters. We want to know if Judge Roth is going to put the community first or choose special interest money to favor her campaign contributors.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "Every judge, including the honorable Judge Donna Roth, the presiding judge for the 295th Civil District Court takes an oath of office when they're elected as ministers of justice. That being said, "CRIME AND CORRUPTION" are not partisan issues. And we must make it our business to make sure that our judges are rendering justice fairly and impartially in Harris County, Texas. And we must also make sure that justice is being administered without respect to persons, that members of the judiciary are treating the rich and the poor equally, and that donors to political campaigns are not being given an unfair advantage over non-donors inside courtrooms."

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "I'm proud of Judge Donna Roth, and believe that she's a very competent member of the judiciary. In case you don't know, she's also up for re-election this year. That being said, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, in the Midterm Election, Judge Donna Roth (a Democrat), is being challenged by Attorney Malcolm Whittaker (a Republican), in the race for Judge, 295th Civil District Court, in Harris County, Texas. Now, we must "PUT PEOPLE OVER POLITICS" and only cast votes for judicial candidates who are committed to honoring their oath of office and rendering justice equally to the rich and poor alike."

QUANELL X: “My question is will JUDGE DONNA ROTH stand with the citizens of Houston and Houston First Responders? Or will she BOW to special interest money? Judge Donna Roth of the 295th Harris County District Court has the authority to assure that the Southwest Inn billboard is repaired and up to city code."

Southwest Inn: One of Houston’s most devastating fires...

HBC NEWSPAPER REPORTS©

Nearly a decade later, it’s still unclear how it happened, but the Southwest Inn fire ultimately claimed the lives of five firefighters and injured at least fifteen more.

Houston, TX- Inspection records show that Southwest Inn, historically located at 6855 Southwest Freeway had been receiving citations for problems with its overall fire alarm system since 2009. There were broken smoke detectors in several rooms, problems with fire suppression systems, expired permits, and blocked exits. In 2011, HFD's database said that the hotel was "in compliance." Yet, in 2012, more citations were added. When a final inspection of the hotel was conducted on May 8, 2013, no further action was needed.

In addition to the motel’s extensive history of receiving citations for defective equipment, only two months before the fire, inspectors from the City of Houston fined Bhojan Restaurant, a vegetarian Indian cafe located on Southwest Inn’s premises, for not cleaning its grease traps. On May 31, 2013, what began as a little restaurant fire - a common occurrence for firefighters everywhere - quickly escalated into an overwhelming blaze that ultimately took the lives of five Houston Fire Department firefighters when part of the structure collapsed on them. It was the worst tragedy in the Houston Fire Department’s history.

A restaurant worker rushed into the Inn and notified them that a fire had started. Workers were knocking on doors and windows in a panic. Guests were trying to escape. A mother and her five kids ran for their lives, leaving everything behind. One occupant who had only stepped away momentarily to fill out an application for an apartment was shocked to see the hotel on fire when he came back. People were frantically screaming while trying to evacuate. It was like a war zone. The firefighters were trying hard to put the fire out when suddenly there was a loud boom, like a cannon going off, a big fireball shot up, and then they were gone. "They tried to get us out of this place, they lost their lives in the process,” said one of the occupants.

"This is the worst day of my life," said HFD Rick Flanagan, who lost four of his friends in one day. “I could never have imagined this." There are a few hard days ahead of us, too.

QUANELL X: “The May 31, 2013 fire at the Southwest Inn, claimed the lives of five Houston Firefighters. At least fifteen City of Houston firefighters were injured during the blaze.”

QUANELL X: “The billboard’s electrical system was damaged. Back in 2021, this billboard was still in unsafe conditions resulting in a construction worker being electrocuted.”

Keep us in your prayers.
Southwest Inn: The tragedies continue...

Along with five firefighters losing their lives and fifteen more being injured, the Southwest Inn was destroyed. The electrical system for a billboard that sits on the property was also damaged. Almost a decade later, there’s no evidence of the billboard’s electrical system ever being repaired. Despite several attempts, there has been no success locating any permits or other information related to repairs. Sources allege that "repairs" made on the billboard were done by unlicensed workers, and do not meet city codes. As a result of the billboard's faulty electrical system, a construction worker was electrocuted in 2021; and Houston Firefighters along with the loved ones of the deceased firefighters are unable to have annual memorials at the site, a tradition that began in 2014 on the first anniversary of the deadly fire.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "Now is the time when our love for America must prevail. It is incumbent upon us to elect "PUBLIC SERVANTS" who understand that they work for the people. We need "ELECTED OFFICIALS" in office who love "OUR CONSTITUTION" and the ideals that our nation was founded upon by our forefathers. We must endeavor to "PUT PEOPLE OVER POLITICS" and do what's best for America during this crucial moment during the history of our great nation."

We Must Make it Our Business to Put "People Over Politics" in the 2022 Midterm Election & Beyond...

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Make no mistake about it, who the people of Harris County, Texas choose to give another term to in 2022 must be about substance, job performance, judicial temperament, competence, and whether or not our members of the judiciary are following the law with their rulings. And that being said, in the upcoming 2022 Midterms, it is incumbent upon the voters of Harris County to evaluate the job performance of each and every sitting "ELECTED OFFICIAL" on a case-by-case basis and not as a group based on their political party affiliation, ethnicity, or gender.
