Following the Money in the District B Fiasco Will Help You Better Understand Why Local Leaders Are Pretty Much Silent Right Now

Back on Saturday, December 12, 2020, Tarsha Jackson (above center) defeated her opponent Cynthia Bailey by overpowering her with a much more superior "ABSENTEE BALLOT" campaign. As a matter of fact, Tarsha Jackson got so many "ABSENTEE BALLOTS" she didn't even need the early votes, and election day votes she received to defeat Cynthia Bailey in their December 12, 2020, runoff showdown. Now, you can best believe that Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis had a whole lot to do with how that December 12th runoff election turned out. But before I get to that, it would be nice to know what happened to that $500,000.00 that disappeared from Ellis' campaign account back when he was serving in the Texas Senate. What am I talking about? Well, back when Ellis was in the Texas Senate his Republican colleagues discovered that about $500,000.00 had just vanished (disappeared) (went bye-bye) from his campaign finance report. Nope, this isn't fake news -- that money just vanished from Ellis' account. And the saddest part about that is that I don't believe that anyone really dug deep enough to get to the bottom of what really happened to that $500,000.00 way back then. Heck, according to published reports, Ellis' campaign finance report all those years ago didn't even contain the field where candidates are supposed to detail how securities purchased from their campaign accounts lost value. Why is this significant? It's important because that field was supposed to serve as a safeguard to prevent "OFFICE HOLDERS" from making poor investment decisions. So, because Ellis' form didn't contain the field, this made it nearly impossible to determine whether or not he was making poor investment decisions with his campaign monies. However, to his credit, Ellis did eventually admit that he had lost the $500,000.00 in the stock market, but claimed that he eventually earned the money back through other investments! I guess the folks investigating the matter (back then) just took Ellis' word for it. And while I'm at it, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis donating more than $250,000.00 to an organization like (TOP) Texas Organizing Project. But my question now, is was any of the money he donated to (TOP) Texas Organizing Project meant to help Tarsha Jackson a former employee of TOP to secure her recent win in the Houston City Council District B, runoff race. Get this, after Commissioner Rodney Ellis made his $150,000 donation which was after he'd already given a $100,000 in donations to TOP, they -- Texas Organizing Project turned right around and gave Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis an in-kind contribution of $4,264.58 a few days later on 1/22/2020. Then on 2/22/2020, (TOP) Texas Organizing Project turned around and donated $121,329.04 to Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis in the form of canvassing and phone banking services. I know that these shenanigans were designed to help Commissioner Ellis win his March 3, 2020, Democratic Party Primary battle against former Judge Maria T. Jackson -- but what else was this exchange of monies meant to accomplish? My question is -- how did that money given to (TOP) Texas Organizing Project play into the Saturday, December 12, 2020, Houston City Council District B runoff election?

The Black Community Should Be Asking Local Leaders Some Very Serious Questions About District B Right About Now

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

In case you don't know, Tarsha Jackson took money directly from Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis. Nope!!! I'm not making this up! Look, once Renee Jefferson Smith (the third-place finisher) didn't make it into the runoff, he, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis almost immediately seized upon the opportunity to use his power to influence the outcome of the Houston City Council District B runoff race in hopes of putting another one of his cronies on Houston's City Council -- and he succeeded at doing just that with Tarsha Jackson's recent victory. How do I know? Haven't you been paying attention to my reports? Remember back in early December of 2019, when Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis took issue with Harris County Clerk Diane Trautman’s claim that she had no legal option other than to remove the contested Houston City Council District B runoff race between Tarsha Jackson and Cynthia Bailey from the ballot? Remember when she said, “Due to a legal challenge contesting the outcome of the Houston City Council District B race, the Office of the County Attorney advised me that the District B race could not be on the runoff ballot, per the Texas Election Code” -- remember Diane Trautman saying that? Do you remember when she (Diane Trautman) went before Commissioner's Court and made that bold statement? Remember how Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis appeared to be all upset at Diane Trautman (who was still the Harris County Clerk at the time) for pulling the District B race from the runoff ballot? Well, did you know that Commissioner Rodney Ellis donated $1,000.00 directly to Tarsha Jackson’s campaign back on Thursday, November 14, 2019, and another $1,000.00 directly to Tarsha Jackson's campaign on November 15, 2020 -- a few days prior to the Saturday, December 12, 2020 runoff between Tarsha Jackson and Cynthia Bailey? And what about Lance Gilliam, one of Commissioner Rodney Ellis' wife's partners donating $1,000.00 directly to Tarsha Jackson's campaign back on October 20, 2020 -- did you know about that? You see Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis knows how to get things done, while putting on the appearance that his hands are clean.

SYNOPSIS

If you look at Tarsha Jackson's Campaign finance report from the period of 7/1/2020 through 12/2/2020 what you are going to find is a lot of powerful names. If you gain an understanding through doing your own research into some of the people who were donating money to Tarsha Jackson what you may also gain is a better understanding of why a whole bunch of people are turning a blind eye on the fact that Councilwoman Tarsha Jackson is "INELIGIBLE" to even hold the Houston City Council District B seat. Now, I am not going to list all of the people who supported Tarsha Jackson, but I am going to give you a glimpse into a few of the names listed in her report that was received back on 12/4/2020 by the City of Houston. And remember, during this period, Tarsha Jackson received $39,445.00 in total political contributions, and spent $46,330.62 on her campaign. Steve Moore, John Peavy, Gladys House-El, Joanne Witty, Judge Charles Silverman, Jeff Cohen, Brandon Dudley, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, David Lee, Amber Mostyn, Houston Federation of Teachers, Mustafa Tameez, Attorney Silva Mintz, Harris County Treasurer Dylan Osborne, Houston Apartment Association, Greenhouse International Church, Bobby P. Singh, United Food and Commercial Workers, and State Rep. Senfronia Thompson. Now you don't have to be politically astute to see that Tarsha Jackson benefited greatly by having Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis in her corner. But did you know that when Councilwoman Tarsha Jackson was with (TOP) Texas Organizing Project she assisted Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg in her campaign? Could this by why everyone turned a blind-eye to the fact that Councilwoman Tarsha Jackson was not even "ELIGIBLE" to run for the Houston City Council District B seat in the first place? Could this be the reason why so many local elected officials aren't saying anything at all about Sec. 43.130 of the Texas Local Government Code which says, “A resident of an area annexed for limited purposes is not eligible to be a candidate for or to be elected to a municipal office? Remember, (TOP) Texas Organizing Project endorsed Kim Ogg in her initial run for Harris County District Attorney back in 2016, but went against her in 2020, saying that Kim Ogg was not progressive enough.

"The Texas Organizing Project supported Kim Ogg (above rear behind Tarsha Jackson) back in 2016, but when she and Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis began fighting over her request for 100 new prosecutors the powerful group changed it's tune and endorsed Attorney Audia Jones in 2020. In fact, a key quote from the article that appeared in the Houston Chronicle went sort of like this “We are about shrinking the amount of people that are incarcerated,” TOP Deputy Director Brianna Brown said. “That doesn’t look like asking for more prosecutors… that doesn’t mean turning up the death penalty in Harris County. That doesn’t mean coming out against bail reform.”

So, as you listen to the audio recording please pay very close attention to the part where “WHISTLEBLOWER” Damien Thaddeus Jones talks about how once a person get’s under his thumb they’re always under his thumb.

Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis And His Cronies Like Councilwoman Tarsha Jackson Are Going to Keep Getting Richer and Richer, Unless Someone Stops Them

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

I guess to each his own. But what Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis is doing with his campaign donations stinks on several different levels -- but that's a story for another day. Sure, how he's using his campaign funds has come into question before, but I don't think that anyone has seriously dug into how much of his campaign money is being lost and gained as he plays fast and loose with the money that's being donated to him. Nor, do I believe that most people fully understand that Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis is  throwing thousands and thousands of his campaign donations into the New York Stock Exchange on a daily basis -- with is seemingly a reckless disregard for the serious situations many of his constituents are facing these days -- with the COVID-19 pandemic running wild through many of the communities he represents.

Former Mayor Lee P. Brown (left) has his hands on the shoulders of late Harris County Precinct 1 Commissioner El Franco Lee, and current Harris County Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis. In case you don't know when Commissioner Lee died his campaign account still contained about $3.6 million. Like Commissioner Ellis, he also invested his campaign cash in the stock market -- so I guess that's where Commissioner Rodney Ellis learned some of the campaign finance tricks he's performing these days.

ELLIS AIN'T NO JOKE

“The key for me to be independent, to speak my mind, and take on the issues that I have decided to take on in my career, has been to have an adequate war chest so that if there is a fight, I’m ready for it,” said Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis -- several years ago.

Did you know that back on 2/24/2020, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis sold 100,000 shares of NYSE - Federated Govt Obligations Fund and was paid $100,000.00 according to his campaign finance report that's dated Wednesday, July 15, 2020, and published on the Harris County Clerk's website.

Did you know that back on 2/26/2020, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis sold 300,000 shares of NYSE - Federated Govt Obligations Fund and was paid $300,000.00 according to his campaign finance report that's dated Wednesday, July 15, 2020, and published on the Harris County Clerk's website.

Did you know that back on 6/25/2020, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis sold 14,465 shares of NYSE - Blackrock Multi-Asset, Inc. and was paid $150,000.00 according to his campaign finance report that's dated Wednesday, July 15, 2020, and published on the Harris County Clerk's website.

"Commissioner Rodney Ellis is by most accounts one of the most powerful men in Harris County, Texas. Like him, or hate him -- that's a fact. Commissioner Ellis has been influencing local politics since he was in his late twenties. Some folks consider Ellis a "KING-MAKER" of sorts. But before I get to that it would be nice to know what happened to that $500,000 that disappeared from his campaign account back when he was serving in the Texas Senate. What am I talking about? Well, back when Ellis was in the Texas Senate his Republican colleagues discovered that about $500,000 had vanished (disappeared) (gone bye-bye) from his campaign finance report. Nope, this isn't fake news -- it just vanished. And the saddest part about this is that I don't believe that anyone really dug deep enough to get to the bottom of what happened to that $500,000 dollars. If you look back, prior to the Tuesday, November 5, 2019, City of Houston General Election, Commissioner Rodney Ellis' donated over $100,000 to TOP -- Texas Organizing Project. In case you don't know, TOP endorsed Tarsha Jackson in the race for Houston City Council District B. Meanwhile, Commissioner Ellis' consultant (Dallas Jones) was busy supporting the eventual third-place finisher, Renee Jefferson Smith. However, after Renee Jefferson Smith didn't make the runoff, Commissioner Rodney Ellis then donated a cool grand to Tarsha Jackson.

Was Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and His Sidekick Dallas Jones Playing Both Sides Against the Middle in the District B race?

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Commissioner Rodney Ellis is certainly no dummy. Nope! He’s one of the best I’ve ever seen when it comes to playing shell games. As a matter of fact, I believe that Commissioner Rodney Ellis could actually be one of the top five men of any color in the entire United States of America. Heck, I can’t even imagine him playing checkers. Hell NO!!! But I would be very surprised if he doesn’t play a great game of chess. But anyway, as I've said many times before, Commissioner Ellis knows how to get things done in the political world – but he seems to get a little sloppy at times if you ask me. But even still, he’s a bad man in my opinion. When you see him coming you should say, “Mama there goes that man again.” But is he as smart as he believes he is in his own mind? I can’t answer that question for you just yet. However, with that said, please don’t you dare go back and tell Commissioner Rodney Ellis that I’m out here talking bad about him – that would be a bald-faced lie! All I'm trying to do here is understand (in my own mind) why nearly every public official is silent on the matter of newly elected Councilwoman Tarsha Jackson's "INELIGIBLITY" whereas District B is concerned. Well, I couldn't really see the tentacles between Commissioner Ellis and the District B candidates at first. However, I can clearly see now, where Commissioner Rodney Ellis’ boy Dallas Jones was doing his very best to assist Renee Jefferson Smith on several different levels. Now, if you don’t know Dallas Jones, he is widely considered as one of the best in the consulting business in Texas – if not the nation -- but he's not in my opinion!!! What’s Dallas Jones’ connection to all of this District B craziness? Well, Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Renee Jefferson Smith were both clients of Dallas Jones. But the crazy part about the District B race that was held back on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, is that Commissioner Ellis may have had more candidates in the District B race than anyone realized at the time. I believe Tarsha Jackson, the first-place finisher, back on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, may have been Commissioner Rodney Ellis' favorite choice all along? Why? Well, if my memory serves me correctly, Tarsha Jackson played an integral role at TOP (Texas Organizing Project) for about six years before she left the organization to run for the Houston City Council District B seat back in 2019. What doe this have to do with the price of tea in China? Well, back on 4/14/2016 Commissioner Rodney Ellis donated $250.00 to TOP (the Texas Organizing Project) if my memory serves me correctly. Then, back on 8/31/2016 Commissioner Rodney Ellis donated $50,000.00 to TOP. Then, back on 11/03/2016 Commissioner Rodney Ellis donated another $50,000.00 to TOP (the Texas Organizing Project) if my memory serves me correctly. And get this, back on 1/17/2020 Commissioner Rodney Ellis donated a whopping $150,000.00 to TOP (the Texas Organizing Project) if my memory serves me correctly. Are you keeping up? Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Commissioner Rodney Ellis donating more than $250,000.00 to an organization like the (TOP) Texas Organizing Project. And for what it’s worth, I don't have a problem with the way that the Texas Organizing Project appears to support the candidates they endorse. But, after Commissioner Rodney Ellis made his $150,000 donation to TOP, they turned right around and gave Commissioner Rodney Ellis an in-kind contribution.

Dallas Jones is one of those people you're either going to love or hate. But he is not as effective as people believe that he is in Harris County, Texas politics -- he's simply a puppet for Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and his cronies.

The District B City Council Race Was Always About Power, Money, and the Influence of Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

In case you don't know, Democratic Political Consultant Dallas Jones bills himself as a "Political Analyst, Nation Builder, and Leadership-Shaper," according to his Facebook page. I’m not too sure if he’s all of that…but I digress. That being said, from what I've gathered about Dallas Jones – he’s a shrewd businessman -- and one of Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis' puppets. So, I would like to take this moment to remind you that there’s nothing wrong with him working for/with multiple candidates in any given election cycle. However, at first glance, it may not be clear what his direct connections were to the Houston City Council District B race way back in 2019 -- but I'm going to do my best to paint a picture to help you clearly see his involvement. So, do me a favor and make yourself a mental note of the fact that Elite Change, Inc. is Dallas Jones’ baby – he owns the company. And who do you think is one of his ‘BIGGEST’ clients? You guessed it – Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis -- that's who!!!

Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Democratic Political Consultant Dallas Jones Have their Fingerprints all Over the Houston City Council District B Race

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Can anybody out there tell me why Dallas Jones went to Renee Jefferson Smith out of the goodness of his heart and donated $10,000.00 worth of his precious time to help her try to win the Tuesday, November 5, 2019, Houston City Council District B race? Is that what we’re supposed to believe happened? Get this, Renee Jefferson Smith out of the goodness of heart (I guess) paid Elite Change, Inc. -- that's owned by Dallas Jones $9,000.00 out of her campaign account for all of his hard work. Does that make any sense to you? If so, you are “Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs” my friend. Anyways, I guess it’s a coincidence that Commissioner Rodney Ellis paid Elite Exchange, Inc. $17,600.00 for consulting and field support services during pretty much the same time frame. Now, I’m not sure what all of this means, but that’s some creativity right there if you ask me. Doesn't that sound like Dallas Jones was double-dipping in the runup to the Tuesday, November 5, 2019, general election?

THE BRAINS

I’m the President/CEO of Aubrey R. Taylor Communications, the publisher of Houston Business Connections Newspaper©. In case you don’t know, I have 30-years of experience in marketing, branding, investigative reporting, public relations, opposition research, and political consulting. I’ve assisted in branding Republican and Democratic candidates in statewide elections and local municipalities throughout the State of Texas. Over the years, I’ve also assisted in branding and marketing (through my various publications) such corporations and institutions as Shell Oil, The City of Houston, Texas A&M University, Texas Southern University, Prairie View A&M University, Chevron, Waste Management, Nationwide Insurance, Momentum Jaguar/BMW, Channel 11, Channel 13, State Farm Insurance, and Allstate Insurance to name a few.

EXPERIENCED REPORTER

I would have you to know that not everyone who has been accused of a crime or enters a guilty plea in connection with a crime is guilty of the crime they're accused of committing. Neither is everyone who goes to trial to fight charges that are leveled against them and get's convicted are guilty. Look, over the years, some very bad things have happened to people of color in our criminal justice system. So to this end, please understand, that during my career, I’ve gone into the Harris County Jail and Texas prisons on numerous occasions (on secret assignments) working in conjunction with the owner of one of the largest locally owned private security, and investigations firms. The man who was funding my investigations back then (who mysteriously died) also was the godfather of one of my sons, and the backer of one of my publications. That being said, I can straight-faced assure you that I’ve seen some of the injustices that are occurring in the Texas penal system up close and personal. While on the inside, I interviewed (face-to-face) some of the hardest criminals you can imagine for my research. I also discovered first-hand that many of the people who should be locked up are walking around free, and not all of those who are locked behind bars are guilty of the crimes that they, in some cases pleaded guilty to – for whatever reason. So, let me assure you that I know a criminal when I see one. And we have a handful of local elected officials who are straight-criminals and must be stopped!!!

PEOPLE OVER POLITICS

Based on my direct observations over the years, I can attest to the fact that our current criminal justice system is more about “HAVE’S AND HAVE NOT’S” to a greater degree than most people realize.  That being said, sure, in some cases, the skin color of the person being accused of a crime plays a role in who gets indicted and eventually convicted of crimes and those who go free. However, at the end of the day, from observing the system from the inside, and out; having money, good legal representation and access to influential people are unfortunately key determining factors when it comes to who will spend the rest of their life walking around with an “X” on their back and who doesn’t. So, to this end, we must endeavor to change our criminal justice system and political landscape by “TAKING POLITICS OUT” of the way our judges are selected in the Lone Star State – that’s very important to me!

Mayor Turner Has Paid Approximately $36,950, and CM Jerry Davis Has Paid Approximately $16,385 to Cynthia Bailey According to Their Campaign Finance Reports

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

I’m sure you’ve heard all the headlines about Businesswoman Cynthia K. Bailey being an ex-felon and crook. But have you heard about her also being a successful businesswoman? Like her or not, Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey has a very impressive roster of clients, who trust and depend on her ability to consult and provide strategic canvassing, manning of election polls, and strategic campaign sign placement support throughout the region. I’ve watched Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey do her thing over the years, and in doing so, there have even been times when my ground-game crew has overlapped with her ground-game crew. You hardly ever see signs that Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey's ground-game crew has erected flying in the wind. Man, she's good at what she does. Heck, the greatest thing about the work that she and her ground-game crew do on the streets, is that she appears to take great pride in her work -- she appears to be a master of her craft -- a student of the game if you will. Get this, I once saw Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey riding down the street in a freaking golf cart with campaign signs hanging off the back of it. Cynthia’s attention to detail is unmatched in the ground-game industry. But you really don't hear the people who are trying to discredit her candidacy mention her business prowess very much. Now with that said, here is an important question Houston City Council District B residents, must ask themselves, “If Cynthia Bailey is such a bad person, why is the “Chief Executive” of the fourth most populous city in these United States of America, (Mayor Sylvester Turner) one of her biggest clients?” And, why did (Councilman Jerry Davis) do so much business with Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey? Look, candidates don’t spend the kind of loot that Mayor Sylvester Turner, Jerry Davis, and a whole host of other “LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS” spend with Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey – unless she’s one of the best in the business, and from what I can see she just might be the BEST at what she does. You see, since her trouble with the law, Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey, through hard work, determination, and diligence, has sought to better herself. She’s laced her boots up and put in some serious work to show the world that people like her can be redeemed. She’s shown a lot of folks that rehabilitation is possible. She’s demonstrated to the world that no matter what mistake (or mistakes) you make in life, that you can get back up and become all that God has predestined for you to be in my opinion. So, as I say this, I’m reminded of a passage of scripture in the Holy Bible that states, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”

Mayor Sylvester Turner's support of Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey is proof positive that he is a firm believer in giving people a second chance. His loyal support of Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey is evidence of this fact. In case you don't already know, between Monday, July 6, 2015, and Monday, December 16, 2019, Mayor Sylvester Turner paid Businesswoman Cynthia Bailey (from what I could see), somewhere in the neighborhood of $36,950 in consulting fees and other services.
