Dear Dedicated Democrat,
If we are going to reduce crime, improve education and
revitalize our neighborhoods in District 146, we are going to have to do it
together. I am ready to partner with the residents in our communities to help
lead this essential effort.
As your State Representative, my focus will be empowering Civic Clubs,
community leaders and local business owners to make sure that you have a seat
at the table and a meaningful voice in the decision making process.
I am a life long resident of District 146, graduate of
Howard University, and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.
I have been an attorney for more than twenty years.
As a mother, and product of the public education system, I
understand the importance of good schools and that a better education funding
formula will improve the schools in our District (146) and across the city.
As a small business owner,
I know first-hand the kind of hard work that is required to succeed. We
need a level playing field and access to public and private sector contracting
opportunities. I will be a champion of local businesses, diversity and
inclusion. A small business advisory
group will help me with these issues.
Higher education is important. All the young people in
District 146 should have access to an
affordable, quality education and work force training. I will work with local
colleges, universities, churches and community organizations to help secure
scholarship funding for our high school graduates. Together, I want us to
encourage and celebrate academic achievement among our children and
grandchildren.
During the 2017 legislative session, I plan to address
education, jobs, public safety, community revitalization, and focus on securing
more funding to fix flooding here at home and throughout the region. I will
also work to secure more services for seniors and funding for improved health
care in the District.
We have serious work to do and together we will get it done.
Together,
Shawn N. Thierry, Esq.
Democratic Nominee
State Representative, District 146
