State Rep. Ron Reynolds (second from left) stepped aside in the interest of the Democratic Party, clearing the way for his colleague, State Rep. Jolanda "Jo" Jones (far left), and other notable Democrats to pursue their dream of representing the people of the 18th Congressional District of Texas. DANGEROUS UNDERCURRENT... George Foreman IV appears to have fanned the flames and drawn the attention of his brother-in-law, former prizefighter Eric Carr, who knows the 18th Congressional District like the back of his hand, having traveled the district with the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who took him under her wing. Whatever their differences, George Foreman IV portrays himself as the pastor of his father's church and a pillar in the community, but refuses to tell the people of the 18th Congressional District whether he's a Democrat or a Republican. I'm not sure if George Foreman IV is aware of how far his brother-in-law (Eric Carr) has come since he was a teenager, but Foreman IV needs to do a little research on Carr. Why? A minimal amount of research will reveal that Eric Carr's political acumen and influence are unparalleled in local politics inside the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

T.J. Baker is running for the 18th Congressional District of Texas on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Early voting will begin on Monday, October 20, 2025, and end on Friday, October 31, 2025. Election day voting will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

On Monday, June 2, 2025, after George Foreman IV appeared on KTRH740AM, on the Michael Berry Show, at 9:15AM, Investigative Reporter Aubrey R. Taylor provided "POLITICAL COMMENTARY" and analysis to (www.1230kcoh.com), on "THE RALPH COOPER SHOW," to help the Black Community get a better understanding of what's unfolding in the race for the vacant 18th Congressional District of Texas seat. George Foreman IV spent about 15 minutes on KTRH740AM, and KCOH1230AM provided Investigative Reporter Aubrey R. Taylor with about 35 minutes of airtime to analyze and break down the George Foreman IV interview with Hall of Fame Broadcaster Ralph Cooper.

"THE TOP TIER."
State Rep. Jolanda Jones (Democrat) is unquestionably the legitimate torch bearer for Democrats, and George Foreman IV, by all intents and purposes, appears to be running for CD-18 as a torchbearer for "THE GOP," are two transitional candidates. The entry of these two formidable contenders into the race for CD-18 caused the entire CD-18 race to pivot on Monday, June 2, 2025, and again on Thursday, June 5, 2025. That said, it is unclear what role George Foreman IV's brother-in-law (Eric Carr) played in helping State Rep. Ron Reynolds arrive at the decision to step aside on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Still, it has become clear that Jolanda "Jo" Jones, George "BIG WHEEL," Foreman IV, and Eric Carr are all preparing to go "ALL-IN" on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Remember, the deadline to enter the race for CD-18 isn't until Wednesday, September 3, 2025, so more candidates could enter. But why? At this point, with George Foreman IV and State Rep. Jolanda "Jo" Jones preparing to do battle against one another, what else do we need?

State Rep. Reynolds Steps Aside, Potential Runoff Between Jolanda Jones and George Foreman IV, Highly Possible
AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©
Please make no mistake about it: the most intriguing candidate running in the race for the vacant 18th Congressional District of Texas is George Foreman IV. And like her or not, the “PROVEN FIGHTER” in the race for CD-18 is State Rep. Jolanda “Jo” Jones, who represents the people of House District 147, which the 18th Congressional District of Texas overlays.
Why am I calling State Rep. Jolanda “Jo” Jones a “PROVEN FIGHTER” so confidently?
Listen. “To date, Jolanda has saved five lives. One: a gunshot victim. Two: an SUV rollover victim who was ejected on the freeway. Three: a hit-and-run victim. Four: A victim passed out on a busy street. And her fifth and most notable save, for which she won a HERO Award, was that of a teenager whose car fell approximately 100 feet off of a freeway interchange, caught fire, and exploded seconds after Jolanda and her son extricated her. Jolanda ran to safety 50 meters with the teenager in her arms,” states her legislative website.
Her website continues, “If someone is in danger and Jolanda is near, she will be the person who rushes in to save whoever needs saving. Jolanda feels compelled to save people due to the many times she was a victim of circumstance and in need of help, combined with her mother’s teachings that she must have the courage to do what is right when it’s easier to do wrong and that she must help people who, but for her help, would be helpless.”

“GETTING LACED UP.”
Make no mistake about it, there’s some “BAD BLOOD” and unresolved issues between former prizefighter Eric Carr and his former brother-in-law George Foreman IV, which stems from Carr’s marriage to Freeda Foreman, the daughter of “BIG GEORGE” Foreman, many years ago.
Hall of Fame Broadcaster Ralph Cooper believes that Carr and George Foreman IV need to sit down and air out their differences behind closed doors and not allow “FAMILY BUSINESS” to spill over into the dirty world of local politics.
I hope cooler heads prevail and the two men have the foresight to call a truce before things get out of hand and downright nasty, as Eric Carr endeavors to help State Rep. Jolanda “Jo” Jones defeat his brother-in-law at the ballot box.
There’s been a lot of movement since Monday, June 2, 2025, when George Foreman IV, known to his family as “BIG WHEEL,” appeared on conservative Talk Show Host Michael Berry’s program, talking tough and confident.
If there’s anything I respect, confidence is at the top of the list. There’s nothing like witnessing two brothers, or in this case, brothers-in-law, preparing to square off in the political ring.
Former prizefighter Eric Carr immediately announced that he would not be endorsing his former brother-in-law, George Foreman IV, as soon as he announced that he would be running for the vacant 18th Congressional seat, which had been held by his dear friend, the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, for nearly three decades.
There’s no question Eric Carr loved his dear friend with every fiber of his being. However, his love for the 18th Congressional District and its well-being is equally unyielding. In his youth, Carr dreamed of becoming the world heavyweight champion. While he did not achieve that dream, his success in the business world has been marked by wheeling and dealing in cities across the United States.
After the passing of his mother and then that of his dear friend, the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Eric Carr, whom I’m speaking of, poured himself into his business and his desire to succeed, and help as many people as he could to do the same.
What many folks don’t realize about Carr is that he has a better understanding of politics than most so-called political consultants and analysts who report on matters involving the Black community and the inner workings of Black politics.
“Businessman Eric Carr is no stranger to Congressional District 18,” says Hall of Fame Broadcaster Ralph Cooper. “He traveled with Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and supported countless events and projects in District 18 during Lee’s time in Congress,” proclaimed Cooper in a FACEBOOK POST.
According to Ralph Cooper, “Carr has announced his support of Jones! His respect in District 18 is immeasurable,” states Cooper. And Cooper is right!

“REYNOLDS IS OUT.”
The last few weeks have been tenuous and stressful as I watched helplessly as Fort Bend County Chairman Fred Taylor (no relation) pleaded for FBC Elected Officials to come to his aid. However, Fred Taylor’s cries for help to save his chairmanship went unanswered, as he was removed from office and publicly humiliated.
Amid the battle, I made a few public comments about the Honorable State Rep. Ron Reynolds that I now regret in hindsight. The person I thank for enlightening me is none other than Eric Carr, who intervened and brokered a meeting between me and State Rep. Ron Reynolds, which took place on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Missouri City, Texas, at the District Office of State Rep. Ron Reynolds.
It was during the meeting mentioned above that State Rep. Ron Reynolds and I were able to discuss our differences and the challenges faced by the Black community in local politics.
I expressed my disdain for several local “ELECTED OFFICIALS” and the lack of leadership, which has caused “BLACK PEOPLE” to fall further behind other ethnic groups, as we find ourselves on the verge of becoming irrelevant, from a political perspective, if a change doesn’t occur very soon.
It was during our discussion about the upcoming Tuesday, November 4, 2025, “SPECIAL ELECTION” for the vacant 18th Congressional District race that I explained to State Rep. Ron Reynolds what had occurred on Michael Berry’s Talk Show on Monday, June 2, 2025, when George Foreman IV, entered the CD-18 race.
I explained to State Rep. Ron Reynolds that there were already twenty candidates in the race for CD-18 and how I believed that the coveted District 18 could be flipped from “BLUE to RED” if he entered the race.
After a nearly two-hour meeting, State Rep. Ron Reynolds informed me that he would pray about his next move and seek guidance from a few trusted individuals.
I left State Rep. Reynold’s District Office optimistic that he would do the right thing and “STAND DOWN,” like the leader I believe him to be. Approximately 30 minutes after leaving his office, I received a text from State Rep. Ron Reynolds stating, “Rep. Ron Reynolds Announces Decision Not to Run for Texas’s 18th Congressional District.”
“State Representative Ron Reynolds has officially announced that he will not seek election to the U.S. House of Representatives for Texas’ 18th Congressional District,” stated his press release, dated Wednesday, June 4, 2025, on his letterhead.
According to his press release, “Instead, he will run for re-election to continue serving the people of House District 27, a position he has held with distinction since 2010.
“With the conclusion of the 89th Legislative Session, I want to directly address the growing speculation regarding a potential campaign for Congress,” said Rep. Reynolds. “I am truly honored and humbled by the outpouring of support and encouragement from community leaders urging me to consider running for the 18th Congressional District seat.”
According to State Rep. Reynolds’ press release, he had the highest respect and admiration for both Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Mayor Sylvester Turner, whom he considered two extraordinary public servants who made a lasting impact on their community.
In his press release, State Rep. Reynolds emphasized his ongoing commitment to legislative priorities and leadership responsibilities that continue to serve his constituents and communities across the state of Texas.
For those who may not be aware, State Rep. Reynolds currently serves as Chair of the Texas HBCU Legislative Caucus, Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, and holds the titles of Chair Emeritus of both the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and the Texas Legislative Progressive Caucus.
“My work in the Texas House remains unfinished, and I am energized by the opportunity to continue advocating for equitable education, criminal justice reform, economic development, and environmental justice,” he proclaimed.
He closed out his release by stating, “I look forward to collaborating with the next representative of the 18th Congressional District to ensure our shared values and vision for Texas are well represented in Washington."

“JOLANDA IS ALL IN.”
The race for the vacant 18th Congressional District of Texas was turned on its head on Monday, June 2, 2025, when George Foreman IV entered the race, however, with the entry of State Rep. Jolanda Jones into the already crowded field of contenders, who knows what’s going to happen on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in the “SPECIAL ELECTION,” for the highly coveted congressional seat that was drawn for the late Barbara Jordan, to give African Americans representation in Washington.
“I’m in,” stated State Rep. Jolanda Jones in her press release. “As many of you know, I deferred my decision about running for Congress until the end of the Texas Legislature’s session,” she explained.
According to State Rep. Jones, she promised her constituents that she would fight for them every day during the session, and she fulfilled her promise.
“After much encouragement and serious consideration, I have decided today to become a candidate for Congress in the historic 18th district.
She went on to explain, “The simple fact is not one will fight harder to stop Republicans from taking away our social security, our public schools, our health care, our constitutional rights, and more.”
“I’m in…Running for Congress as I ran for gold on Team USA,” proclaimed State Rep. Jones. “Same fire. Same Fight. Same finish line.”
According to her, “It’s time to do this.”
Shortly after State Rep. Jolanda “Jo” Jones announced her candidacy, Hall of Fame Broadcaster Ralph Cooper took to his FACEBOOK page. It stated, “Jolanda Jones is 'IN' the Congressional District 18 race! “The Champ” takes the historical district to another level in 2025.”
“She comes with the spirit and energy of those who inspired her. She knows and respects the history of Congressional District 18," explained Cooper.
According to Ralph Cooper, who followed Jolanda “Jo” Jones throughout her career. “A champion in the political arena and track and field,” he proclaimed.
It is unclear at this time if Ralph Cooper is throwing his full support behind State Rep. Jolanda Jones or someone else in the race. However, he did issue a “CALL TO ACTION” for community stakeholders to get people registered to vote.
“A campaign to get people registered and to support Jones has started,” contends Cooper.

“FIELD OF CONTENDERS.”
With State Rep. Ron Reynolds deciding not to run for the vacant 18th Congressional District of Texas seat, the number of avenues, or paths to “THE RUNOFF,” immediately increased exponentially for his colleague, State Rep. Jolanda Jones. Whether this was by coincidence or the handiwork of their mutual friend, Eric Carr, remains to be seen.
Whatever the case, I believe that State Rep. Jolanda “Jo” Jones has bolted to the front of “THE TOP TIER” of contenders.
If former State Rep. Jarvis Johnson enters the race, he will immediately get placed in “THE TOP TIER” of contenders who are vying for the coveted CD-18 seat. However, until then, my top tier of CD-18 candidates includes Geoge Foreman IV (Republican), State Rep. Jolanda “Jo” Jones (Democrat), former City Councilwoman Amanda Edwards (Democrat), Carmen Maria Montiel (Republican), Isaiah Martin (Democrat), Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee (Democrat), and Robert Slater (Democrat), are the top contenders.
The candidates who I have in “THE SECOND TIER” are Dr. James Joseph (Democrat), Corisha Rogers (Democrat), Steven Filler (Democrat), Koffey Smith El Bey (Democrat), Selena Samuel (Democrat), Zoe Cadore (Democrat), Ebony Rain Eatmon (Democrat), Larry McKinzie (Democrat), and T.J. Baker (Democrat), are in the second tier of contenders.
Renya Anderson (American Solidarity Party), Derrel Tuner (Independent), Khristopher W. Beal (Independent), Cyrus Sajna (Republican), Dr. Allen Berry (Republican), Earnest Clayton (Democrat), and Kivan Polimis (Democrat) are the candidates who I have on the outside looking in at this time.

“RUNOFF INEVITABLE.”
With the number of candidates running for the vacant 18th Congressional District of Texas seat, no candidate will be able to achieve the 50 50-plus-one percent threshold on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to avoid a December runoff.
George Foreman IV and Carmen Maria Montiel will receive the bulk of the Republican votes if no other conservative enters the race before the “FILING DEADLINE,” which is Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
On the Democratic side, Jolanda “Jo” Jones, Isaiah Martin, Amanda Edwards, and Christian Menefee will all be within a few percentage points of one another.

“CLOSING THOUGHTS.”
As a first-time candidate, George Foreman IV may or may not perform well. However, based on his interview with the "THE MICHAEL BERRY SHOW," he wanted to grow up and become the Governor of Texas one day. He’s likely been recruited to run for the coveted CD-18 seat, which could take him on a vastly different political path if he wins, but he sounds like he’s all in, just as State Rep. Jolanda “Jo” Jones claimed to be in her announcement. With this in mind, I’m expecting the Harris County Republican Party and other Republican groups to support George Foreman IV’s candidacy directly and indirectly through the start of “EARLY VOTING,” which begins on Monday, October 20, 2025, and will end on Friday, October 31, 2025, which makes him the most dangerous candidate in the race.

State Rep. Ron Reynolds (right) and his longtime colleague and close friend, State Rep. Jolanda Jones, have supported one another and stood together on the front lines in many battles. State Rep. Ron Reynolds proved himself to be "A TRUE LEADER," by stepping aside and not running for the 18th Congressional District of Texas. It is unclear at this time if State Rep. Reynolds will make an endorsement before the December runoff.
George Foreman IV, the son of the late two-time Heavyweight Champion of the World "BIG GEORGE" Foreman, appears to be on a track to secure a majority of the Republican vote, in a field of candidates that is entirely too deep with Democratic candidates. While his appearance on the Michael Berry Show was little more than a "SOFTBALL INTERVIEW," it is unclear if the man called "BIG WHEEL" by his family and friends has the guts to face down someone like State Rep. Jolanda Jones in a debate on (www.1230kcoh.com) so that the people of the 18th Congressional District of Texas can get a better understanding of who he is, what he stands for, and how he plans to represent them in the United States Congress if he pulls of a victory in the CD-18 race.

Former prizefighter Eric Carr (right) learned a great deal about the inner workings of the United States Congress from his dear friend, the late Honorable Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who took him under her wing. As Eric Carr's business has expanded into other states, so has his influence in the Bayou City and other major metropolitan areas throughout America. Eric Carr has announced that he is supporting State Rep. Jolanda "Jo" Jones over his former brother-in-law, George Foreman IV, in the upcoming Tuesday, November 4, 2025, "SPECIAL ELECTION," for the 18th Congressional District.

The newly-drawn 18th Congressional District of Texas is now 43.4% Hispanic, 32.2% Black, 16.7% White, 4.9% Asian, 2.2% Two or more races, and 0.7% Other, according to the (CPVI) Cook Partisan Voting Index. Can the 18th Congressional District of Texas get flipped from "BLUE" to "RED" on Tuesday, November 4, 2025? The answer is YES. However, it will take the correct type of candidates who can draw support from the right and the left side of the political aisle.

The entry of the late 2-time Heavyweight champion George Foreman's son into the race for the vacant 18th Congressional District of Texas seat has turned the race on its head. County Attorney Christian Menefee's campaign has failed to gain any traction. The campaign strategy used by former Houston City Councilwoman Amanda Edwards has been unable to take hold, just as it did when she raised and spent over $1.6 million during the Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Democratic Party Primary. Remember, most people are beginning to view Amanda Edwards as a perennial runner for public office.

The 2026 Midterm Election provides the people of Fort Bend County and Harris County with a unique opportunity to pluck out the "BAD APPLES" and replace them with "GOOD APPLES" in judicial races up and down the ballot.

State Rep. Jolanda Jones (center) serves as the State Representative for House District 147. When Judge Erica Hughes (left) was called an animal by a local lawyer during the 2024 Democratic Party Primary, State Rep. Jolanda Jones stepped forward to defend Erica Hughes, who was running against Judge Mike Engelhart, a "GREAT DEMOCRATIC JUDGE" for his 151st Civil District Court bench. With the support she received from State Rep. Jolanda Jones and others, Erica Hughes unseated Judge Engelhart by garnering 93,468 votes, for 60.9% of the vote. Comparatively speaking, Judge Mike Engelhart, who was hugely popular, and well respected, only received 59,964 votes, for 39.1%, which shows that any judge running for re-election in next year's Tuesday, March 3, 2025, Democratic Party Primary can lose their bench, including the twenty-six (26) African American incumbent judges who are up for re-election in the 2026 Midterm Election. Readers of Houston Business Connections Newspaper© are strongly encouraged to vote for Lieutenant Colonel Judge DaSean Jones on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in the race for the 180th Criminal District Court in the Democratic Party Primary.

Former United States Attorney General Merrick Garland chose Judge Erica Hughes to serve as an Immigration Judge, where she presided over cases. Judge Erica Hughes has been an esteemed member of the U.S. Army National Guard of Texas in Austin since 2016, serving as a Judge Advocate. On January 1, 2025, Judge Erica Hughes, after being called an animal by an "LGBTQ ATTORNEY," named Ben L. Aderholt and unqualified by fellow judges from within the Harris County Democratic Party, during the 2024 Democratic Party Primary season she overcame the odds and defeated a very popular Democratic Party Judge named Mike Engelhart, one of our favorite judges in the race for the 151st Civil District Court in Harris County, Texas.
