Bush High School Dance Twins are Turning Heads

FORT BEND ISD - During performances of Bush High School’s Illusions Dance Team, fans may have done a double-take after seeing two particular dancers, but their eyes weren’t deceiving them. Twins Kaitlin and Keira Tademy are both following their passion for dance and are enjoying every moment of it.

The twins, who are juniors enrolled in the International Business and Marketing Academy at Bush, joined the Illusions at the start of their sophomore year. They currently serve as dance officer and team leader, but next year, Kaitlin will serve as the team's captain and Kiera as co-captain.

“I enjoy being on the dance team with Kaitlin because she understands me and supports what I want to get out of the team,” said Keira. “There are times, however, when people think we give each other special treatment because we're sisters, but that's not the case.”

“The Tademy twins are the epitome of what it means to be an Illusion,” said Illusions Dance Team Director, Domonique Baxter. “They are intelligent, well-mannered, and can dance like no other. They have brought interesting choreography as well as sweet leadership to the team. I am grateful and excited to have these two young ladies leading my team next year! I know that they will make the year a memorable one.”

Like most twins, Kaitlin and Keira are often mistaken for one another, and they admit to having fun with it. “Once in middle school we switched seats in science class,” said Kaitlin. “Our classmates were laughing the whole while, but the teacher had no idea what we had done.”

Kaitlin and Keira often share the spotlight and have served together in other organizations, including Student Council and DECA. They have also been known to compete in the same contests.

Their mom, Angela, recalls when the twins both entered their elementary school's Spelling Bee. “They were so supportive of each other and really wanted each other to win,” she said. The twins earned first and second place in that spelling bee.

Outside of school, Kaitlin and Keira find time to give back to their community by volunteering at the Fort Bend County Women's Center's Pennywise Resale Shop. Along with their younger sister, Lauren, the twins help sort toys and other items, and assist in other areas as needed.

Although the twins' current interests seem to mirror one another, they have chosen to pursue different career paths. In college, Keira wants to major in psychology and possibly minor in dance. As for Kaitlin, she wants to become a pediatrician and continue dance as a hobby.

Whatever they decide to achieve in life, there is no doubt that Kaitlin and Keira will be cheering on one another.
