AUBREY R. TAYLOR: Why should voters in Harris County, Texas cast their ballot for you over your opponent on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the Midterm Election?

JUDGE BRAD HART: “My entire 21-year career has been dedicated solely to criminal justice and the integrity of the system. I have handled every type of case that routinely comes before a  felony court, including Capital Murder. As a judge, I have maintained one of the most efficiently run courts in Harris County. The efficiency of my docket allowed for our court to have minimal disruption during Hurricane Harvey and to continue working as before the disaster. We were the first felony court to resume jury trials post-Harvey, leading the way for other courts. I am extremely proud of my Change Through Intervention Docket, helping people turn their lives around. I serve as the lead judge in implementing technology in the courts. Post-Harvey, I was named the first-ever judicial liaison to the Harris County criminal defense bar. I was also named Judge of the Year by the Texas Gang Investigators Association. The legal community routinely rates me as one of the best judges in their Bar Polls. My work, my experience and my commitment to fairness, following the law and improving the system make me the most qualified choice for this court. I hope the voters will allow me to continue my work.”

Defense Attorneys in Harris County Can Now Be Granted 24-Hour Access to DA Portal Says 230th District Court Judge Brad Hart

Judge Brad Hart is the presiding judge over the 230th District Court in Harris County, Texas. Judge Hart is being challenged on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, by his Democratic rival Chris Morton. So, don’t forget that early voting will begin on Monday, October 22, 2018, and end on Friday, November 2, 2018.

Prosecutors Now have the Ability to Grant Temporary Access to the DA Portal Says Judge Brad Hart in a Recent Facebook Post says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Newspaper©

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

According to a recent Facebook I ran across that was sponsored by Judge Brad Hart, the presiding judge over the 230th District Court in Harris County, Texas, defense attorneys will now be granted 24-hour access to the DA Portal. I’m not exactly sure what all this means, but I’m sure that many of my attorney friends will know the significance of this announcement.

HERE’S THE MESSAGE I RAN ACROSS ON FACEBOOK THAT WAS PUBLISHED BY JUDGE BRAD HART THE OTHER DAY:

MESSAGE FROM JUDGE BRAD HART: “For the Defense Bar: There have been several complaints by the defense bar and by judges about defense attorneys not being able to see evidence in the DA portal because the clerk’s office has not attached the attorney yet or the DAO has not recognized the attachment yet. I am told this has been especially problematic in County Court. Thanks to the always good work of Gary Zallar and the IT people at the DAO, as of this past Thursday, 8/9/18, prosecutors have the ability grant temporary access to the DA portal to attorneys hired on or appointed to cases. The Technology Committee was given a demonstration and it seemed to work pretty well. If an attorney is hired or appointed on the case but has not been attached by the clerk’s office yet the attorney can ask the prosecutor to give them the temporary access. The prosecutor can pull up the case in their system, enter the attorney’s bar or spn number and add the attorney for temporary access. I believe the access lasts for 24 hours which should be enough time for the attorney to be actually attached in JIMS. If after 24 hours and still not attached I suggest getting with the clerk of the court to make sure they have entered the attachment. At the time this was being demonstrated to us by the DAO tech people the prosecutors had not been informed of this ability. Hopefully, they have been by now.”

HARRIS COUNTY STRONG

A FIGHT FOR TERRITORY

Make no mistake about it, Tuesday, November 6, 2018, won't be business as usual as it pertains to Midterm Elections in Harris County, Texas. Judge Jackson is one of the Top Democrats on the 2018 Democratic Statewide Ticket says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Magazine©

One of the top statewide Democratic candidates on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, Midterm Election ballot in Texas, Judge Maria T. Jackson should garner votes from non-straight ticket voters from both major political parties, independents and Libertarians too in my opinion. In case you don’t already know, only two Democratic candidates received more statewide votes than Judge Maria T. Jackson back in the Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Democratic Primary. The #1 statewide Democratic vote-getter was Justin Nelson (888,444) who is running for Attorney General. The #2 statewide Democratic vote-getter was Kim Olson (883,575) who is running for Agriculture Commissioner. And our very own Judge Maria T. Jackson (878,581) was the #3 statewide vote-getter back in the Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Democratic Party Primary in Texas. So, if you're out there looking for a candidate who is experienced, fair, and ready to administer blind-fold justice in cases brought before the highest court for criminal appeals in the State of Texas – look no further than Judge Maria T. Jackson on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

Judge Michelle Slaughter, Pictured with Lt. Col. Allen West is Expected to Roll to Victory on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Magazine©

I'm expecting for Judge Michelle Slaughter to roll to victory over her Libertarian Party challenger on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. After all, she's already faced her toughest challenge, which was to win the Republican nomination. And she did so in good-fashion over two worthy fellow Republicans back in the Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Republican Party Primary. So, as a refresher, Judge Michelle Slaughter received more votes than both her Republican Party Primary opponents combined by garnering 669,949 statewide votes, while Jay Brandon received 389,753 statewide votes, and Dib Waldrip received 208,179 statewide votes respectively. Again, I'm expecting for Judge Michelle Slaughter to handily defeat Mark Ash, her Libertarian challenger. So, if you're out there looking for a constitutional conservative judge and originalist who has presided over thousands of felony criminal cases and well over a hundred felony criminal jury trials ranging from state-jail felonies to capital murder cases you should look no further than Judge Michelle Slaughter2018 Candidate for Judge, Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 8 on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the Lone Star State.

Attorney DaSean Jones is Seeking to Unseat Judge Catherine Evans in Harris County, Texas says Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Magazine©

Attorney DaSean Jones is one of only a handful of African American male judicial candidates to make the Tuesday, November 6, 2018, Midterm Election ballot in Harris County, Texas. In case you don't know, Jones is seeking to unseat Republican incumbent Judge Catherine Evans in what’s expected to be a very tight race.

GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT WILL BE THE MAN TO BEAT ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2018 IN THE STATE OF TEXAS

GREG ABBOTT -- GOVERNOR OF TEXAS

Our primaries in Texas (in general) and Harris County (in particular) will for the most part be about two people – Governor Greg Abbott, and whomever the Texas Democratic Party can convince to challenge him. However, after the beating Gov. Abbott put on his last Democratic rival, former state senator Wendy R. Davis back in 2014, no big names have officially stepped up to the plate to challenge him as of yet. Oh, I forgot, the Democrats do have Jeffrey Payne, the owner of a gay bar in Dallas, Texas. Payne has publicly stated that he plans to challenge Gov. Abbott in 2018. And according to published reports, he plans to loan his campaign at least $2 million dollars to help his cause. But he’ll need a lot more than that to win in Texas. Anyways, in case you’ve forgotten, Gov. Greg Abbott received 2,796,547 votes for 59.27% of the vote back on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 statewide in Texas. The Democratic nominee, Wendy R. Davis received 1,835,596 votes for 38.90% of the statewide vote. To round out the 2014 MIDTERM ELECTION field of gubernatorial candidates Kathie Glass (Libertarian) received 66,543 for 1.41%; Brandon Parmer a member of the Green Party received 18,520 for 0.39%; and Sarah M. Pavitt a write-in candidate received 1,062 for 0.02% of the statewide vote in Texas.

HERE'S HOW GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT PERFORMED IN HARRIS COUNTY BACK IN THE 2O14 MIDTERM ELECTION

However, this will be a major test for Judge Weiman and other candidates because there will not be any straight-ticket party voting in the 2020 Presidential Election in Texas. HB25 ALERT: House Bill 25 will officially put an end to the practice of voting a straight-party ticket in Texas on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Back on June 1, 2017, Governor Greg Abbott signed into law House Bill 25, which eliminates the straight-ticket voting option in Texas for all races beginning in 2020.
