Ronald Hale, Brenda Stardig, Amy Peck, and Mike Knox are all seeking to unseat Council Member Helena Brown in the 2013 Houston City Council District A Race

2013 Candidates running for Houston City Council for District A: Ronald Hale is one of candidates seeking to unseat Houston City Councilwoman Helena Brown in the 2013 City of Houston Mayoral Election on Tuesday, November 5th. Here are the names you will see on the 2013 Mayoral Election ballot in the race for Houston City Council District A: Helena BrownBrenda StardigAmy PeckRonald Hale, and Mike Knox.

Who Do I Choose In the Tuesday, November 5, 2013 City of Houston Mayoral Race?

I have made it through the line, shown my Voter ID, my Voter registration card, and now I'm pulling back the curtain as I help Houston to select the 2014-2015 Mayor. The list of candidates is a long one, with all the candidates having different ideas of what should happen in Houston, and it is important to consider each of them when making the decision. Alphabetically the 9 candidates for Mayor of Houston this 2013 election cycle are Don Cook, Eric Dick, Keryl Burgess Douglas, Charyl L. Drab, Micheal J. Fitzsimmons, Ben Hall, Derek Jenkins, Victoria A. Lane, and Mayor Annise Parker.

Where does Ron Hale stand on the matter of selecting a leader who can advance Houston to a bright future of prosperity, and solve the City of Houston's issue's? I believe after watching the PBS debate, and attending the Houston Young Republicans debate forum I have made my selection. I have met every one of the Mayoral candidates this year, and whether it was a brief 3 minute talk or watching an entire debate ... I think I found our next leader.

At the Houston Young Republican debate, I go ask Eric Dick, Ben Hall and Annise Parker what this election means to them. Let me start with the incumbent Mayor Annise Parker who said "I am in the race, and this is the strongest Mayoral system, and it matters who is in the mayor's office ... if you do not have a good administrator then the wheel's come off." As to Ben Hall who said "It's about the future, not the past." Finally, I ask Erik Dick and his response was "Having a conservative in office will put the money into the issue and save tax payer dollars from misspending."

Now I have had a chance to talk with the other candidates also, but after reading some polls and finding out who the Houston people most wanted to hear from ... I only asked the aforementioned before my deadline. That is not to say that Cook, Douglas, Drab, Fitzsimmons, Jenkins, and Lane do not bring great leadership qualities to the table. They all have great ideas that we can only hope whomever wins for Mayor of Houston will look at these ideas as a sort of road map of the next 2 years.

Life brings us all together to learn from one another and to find a path of community outreach, to grow a society into a great city. Many of us have made up our minds, and may have been backing a candidate for months already because they're a family friend or a friend of a friend. Should that be your only factor when choosing the Mayor of Houston, the fourth largest city in the USA? Well I would hope that we all gather more information about ones skills and background in order to choose a great mayor.

This election is the most important election cycle in Houston because of the candidates, on one hand you have a 16 year vet. running for her last term as a City of Houston representative, if she wins. You also have Ben Hall running to bring the communities of Houston to the future from the past, You have Eric Dick bringing the Republican party out of the shadows of downtown Houston showing the community conservatives what to spend the money on without excess waste on unneeded projects, and 6 more candidates pushing the Mayoral candidates to talk about more community issues that Houston is currently facing. So, who do I choose as I put my finger next to a name to check on my ballot?

Sincerely,
Ronald Hale
2013 Candidate for Houston City Council District A

The Early voting period for the Tuesday, November 5, 2013 City of Houston Mayoral Election Begins on Monday, October 21, 2013 and ends on Friday, November 1, 2013

By Aubrey R. Taylor
Publisher of Houston Business Connections

Mayor Annise Parker is currently serving her second term as the mayor of Houston. In the Tuesday, November 5, 2013 Mayoral Election Mayor Parker is facing off against Ben Hall, Don Cook, Keryl Burgess Douglas, Victoria Lane, Michael Fitzsimmons, Derek Jenkins, Charyl Drab, and Eric Dick.

However, based on the result of the only televised debate which took place on PBS on Tuesday, November 8, 2013; Mayor Parker, Ben Hall and Keryl Burgess Douglas are the candidates who really stood out in my opinion. Other candidates who took the stage along with the trio of Parker, Hall, and Douglas were: Michael Fitzsimmons and Eric Dick.

The debate was put on by Houston PBS and The League of Women Voters of Houston Education Fund.

Mayor Annise Parker Is Asking for Your Vote!

Mayor Annise D. Parker serves as the Executive Officer of the City. As the City's chief administrator and official representative, the Mayor is responsible for the general management of the City and for seeing that all laws and ordinances are enforced. Administrative duties include the appointments, with Council approval, of department heads and persons serving on advisory boards.

As Executive Officer, the Mayor administers oaths and signs all motions, resolutions and ordinances passed by City Council. The Mayor also serves a legislative function, presiding over City Council with voting privileges. The Mayor is responsible for advising Council of the City's financial condition and presents to Council an annual budget for approval.

Born into a family of meager financial means, Benjamin Hall, III has experienced firsthand the struggle that accompanies difficult economic times. Ben also encountered challenges in the academic world, where teachers doubted his ability to rise above his humble beginnings and achieve higher education. However, he knew he had the potential to succeed and refused to compromise his goals.

Here are a few of the videos released by the Annise Parker for Mayor of Houston Campaign during the 2013 Mayoral Election Cycle:

Ben Hall Is Asking for Your Vote!

In 1975, Ben enrolled at the University of South Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977, with honors. His thirst for knowledge and desire to help others led him to continue his education at Duke University; obtaining a Master of Divinity degree in 1979 and a Ph.D. in 1985. Others might have stopped at that point, but Ben saw a real opportunity to help underrepresented communities as an attorney. In 1986, Ben earned a law degree from Harvard Law School and began working at the Vinson & Elkins law firm in Houston, Texas. He went on to serve as the City Attorney for the City of Houston in Mayor Bob Lanier’s administration.

Through his legal practice, Ben has applied the principles of courage, tenacity and justice that he learned as a young man; speaking out on behalf of those who need a strong voice to champion their causes. In 2000, Ben founded the nationally recognized Hall Law Firm. Ben is grateful for his professional successes, but also rough his numerous pro bono efforts on behalf of groups, corporations and individuals in need of representation.

Ben recognizes his personal blessings. He describes his family as his greatest treasure. Ben and Saundra, his wife of 31 years, have two sons. The entire Hall family remains committed to serving the Houston community.
