Sunnyside is the Only Traditional Black Early Voting Location in the Top 10; The Race for Mayor Should End in Runoff Election

The early voting numbers have spiked upward in Houston, Texas over the last three days. On Monday, October 28, 2019, a total of 10,318 Houstonians showed up in person to vote. On Tuesday, October 29, 2019, a total of 10,358 Houstonians showed up in person to vote. And on yesterday, Wednesday, October 30, 2019, a total of 12,209 Houstonians showed up in person to vote. The 2019 City of Houston Race for Mayor is more than likely headed into a runoff. Mayor Sylvester Turner, Bill King, Tony Buzbee, Kendall Baker, Sue Lovell, Dwight Boykins, Victoria Romero, Johnny "J.T." Taylor, Naoufal Houjami, Demetria Smith, Derrick Broze and Roy J. Vasquez are all running for Mayor of Houston, Texas on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. These are the only choices Houstonians have this election cycle, so it is incumbent upon every Houstonian to cast their ballot for the candidate who comes closest to representing their ideals, principles, beliefs, and values.

In-Person Voting in Houston is Trending Upward over Last Three Days as Early Voting Draws to a Close on Friday, November 1, 2019

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Contrary to the polls and what's being peddled through campaigns, at the end of the night on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, what Houstonians are going to hear is that the race for Mayor of Houston is heading to a Saturday, December 14, 2019, Runoff Election. Who's going to be in the runoff? Well, that's another question altogether. Since no Houston Mayor has ever been defeated after serving just one term in office in Houston, Texas, a lot of folks have Mayor Sylvester Turner as the odds on favorite to win his bid for re-election. A recent University of Houston Poll even suggested that Turner could not only win but alluded to the possibility of him winning the race for mayor outright without a runoff -- ain't going to happen. While there is a remote possibility that Mayor Sylvester Turner could receive a robust turnout on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, and outpace his challengers. However, it's highly unlikely that the surge in "ELECTION DAY TURNOUT" would be so vast that it would propel Mayor Sylvester Turner to garner a majority of the vote, which is what he would need to avoid a runoff. READ ARTICLE HERE: "The poll, published on the eve of early voting, shows Turner with 43.5 percent support among likely voters, followed by lawyer and businessman Tony Buzbee at 23.4 percent. Bill King, Turner’s 2015 runoff opponent, trails with 7.8 percent, while 6.8 percent of voters said they support Councilman Dwight Boykins."

IGNORE THE MEDIA REPORTS

The stark reality is this, with only one day of early voting left, after today, only 88,822 Houstonians have gone to the polls to vote in person. These votes are split among twelve candidates running for mayor. Every candidate in the race for mayor has received some votes. Thus, to believe that Mayor Turner is about to win his re-election bid without a runoff, you would have to believe that somewhere in the neighborhood of 45,000 of the 88,822 votes that have been cast so far (during early voting) have been cast for Mayor Turner. Look, there's absolutely no way on earth that any rational, or open-minded political pundit, strategist, or analyst truly believes that this is the case. You have to remember that, sometimes, political operatives peddle ideas that the outcome of a race is certain in their effort to influence the eventual outcome. I hope I'm making sense; but if not, let me be more clear. When the outcome of a political race appears to be certain, people are more likely to respond in one of two ways. Some will ask themselves, "If the candidate I like doesn't stand a chance, why should I even go vote?" And others will sometimes say to themselves, "Well, if the candidate I like has already won anyway, why should I waste my time going to vote?" Look, as the publisher of Houston Business Connections Newspaper, I'm imploring all Houstonians to "IGNORE THE POLLS AND GO VOTE" on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

HOUSTON BUSINESS CONNECTIONS NEWSPAPER© IS A TRUSTED NON-PARTISAN BRANDING AND MOBILIZATION TOOL

In case you don’t remember, in a head-to-head “ENDORSEMENT SHOWDOWN” candidates endorsed by a “select group” of Houston Business Connections Newspaper© readers performed significantly better than those endorsed by the Houston Chronicle editorial board back in the Tuesday, November 8, 2016, Presidential Election as Democrats rolled to historic countywide victories over their Republicans counterparts in what, at the time, was the worst defeat ever for the Harris County Republican Party in its 71-year history.

HOUSTON BUSINESS CONNECTIONS NEWSPAPER© READERS SUPPORT CANDIDATES WHO VALUE THEIR VOTE

As a refresher, there were sixty-seven (67) races where a “select group” of Houston Business Connections Newspaper© readers went head-to-head against the Houston Chronicle editorial board. Fifty-one (51) of the sixty-seven (67) candidates endorsed by Houston Business Connections Newspaper© (in the head-to-head contest) back in the 2016 Presidential Election won their respective races on election night. By contrast, only thirty-eight (38) of the sixty-seven (67) candidates endorsed by the Houston Chronicle editorial board (in these key races) won their respective races back on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, in the Presidential Election as it relates specifically to Harris County, Texas.
