While Local Officials Were Telling Everybody to Stay at Home, Rodney Ellis Went on a Spending Spree

"Remember back when the Coronavirus pandemic first broke and we were all being told to stay at home? Well, while his constituents were being told to mask up and stay at home to face uncertain futures, "ROTTEN RODNEY ELLIS" was enriching himself. Mayor Sylvester Turner (far left) and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo (far right) appeared to be trying to do the best jobs they could back when the CORONAVIRUS pandemic broke. But their buddy Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis had other things on his mind. With more than $3,029,506.00 to play around with, "ROTTEN RODNEY ELLIS" went on a “SPENDING FRENZY” using his "DONATED CAMPAIGN FUNDS" to buy up shares of companies like Facebook, Paypal, Amazon, Nike, Merck, Shopify, Phillip Morris, Equifax, Pepsico, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, United Healthcare Group, Chevron, Allstate, The London Stock Exchange, T-Mobile, Morgan Stanley, and ConocoPhillips – all while his constituents continue to struggle to this very day to hold their lives together during one of the worst pandemics in American history."

At first glance Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee look calm, cool and collective as they sit there eating their strawberries -- don't they? Don't they both look proud, confident and bold? Well, pretty soon, their smiles may turn to looks of concern and dismay if they aren't careful -- but that's a story for another day!

While Mayor Turner and County Judge Lina Hidalgo Forced Everybody to Stay Home, Commissioner Rodney Ellis Went On a Spending Frenzy With His Campaign Cash

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS

NOPE!!! I'm not making this stuff up!!! So, let’s get one thing clear – SOME FOLKS ARE DOING JUST FINE DURING THIS COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. And Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis is one of them! How can I say this? I’m about to tell you if you promise to read this report with an open mind. Can you do that? Well? Can you? Okay!!! Here goes!!! Remember back on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, when Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said, “The best way for residents to understand the current state of coronavirus is to rely on information from trusted sources. We want to partner with residents and empower folks to seek out reliable information so that they can make informed decisions on how best to stay safe.” Remember that? Well? Do you? Remember when she and Mayor Sylvester Turner forced everybody to stay home from work? Remember seeing all of the local businesses, churches and other establishments being shut down?  Don't forget that it was back on March 2nd when County Judge Lina Hidalgo started to ramp things up. Remember it was on March 11th when Mayor Sylvester Turner stepped up to the podium and announced his emergency health declaration and canceled public events for the entire month of March. Remember, it was on March 12th that Houston ISD classes were canceled. Remember, it was around March 13th when former President Trump declared that he was going to unleash the full power of the federal government by declaring COVID-19 a national emergency. Remember, shortly thereafter, Gov. Greg Abbott declared Texas a disaster area! Well, did you know that while the lives of his constituents were being turned upside down because of this CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis was on a spending frenzy? Do realize that while Ellis’ constituents were facing uncertain futures -- because of the COVID-19 PANDEMIC, Commissioner Ellis was using his campaign cash to buy shares of companies all over the world? Nope, this report isn’t “FAKE NEWS” like some folks would have you to believe. Nor should this report be deemed as an attack on Democrats – or Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis. All I am trying to do here is to inform my loyal reader base. How? Well, a careful look at the information, I’ve pulled from Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis’ Campaign Finance Report will clearly show you that, while most of us were being forced to stay indoors by Mayor Sylvester Turner, and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, to prevent us from suffering the ill-effects of the CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC – Precinct One Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis was investing a bunch of his donated campaign cash in the New York Stock Exchange – a luxury few of his constituents may even be able to afford during this pandemic -- or otherwise.

Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis Should be Presumed to Be Innocent Until Someone Develops the Courage to Bring Him to Justice

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Back when Ellis was in the Texas Senate his Republican colleagues discovered that about $500,000 had just vanished (disappeared) (gone bye-bye) from his campaign finance report. Nope, I'm not lying -- it just vanished. And the saddest part about this is that I don't believe that anyone really got to the bottom of that little campaign cash -- disappearing act. According to published reports, Ellis' report didn't contain the field where candidates are supposed to detail how securities purchased from their campaign accounts lost value. Why is this important? It's important because that's supposed to be a safeguard to prevent "OFFICE HOLDERS" from making poor investments. So, because Ellis' form didn't contain the field, this made it nearly impossible to determine whether or not he was making poor investment decisions with his campaign monies. However, to his credit, Ellis did admit that he had lost the $500,000 in the stock market but claimed that he earned the money back -- go figure! And I guess they just took his word for it. And while I'm at it, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis donating more than $250,000.00 to an organization like the (TOP) Texas Organizing Project. And for what it’s worth, I love the way that the Texas Organizing Project appears to support the candidates they endorse. Why? Well, after Commissioner Rodney Ellis made his $150,000 donation to TOP, they turned right around and gave Commissioner Rodney Ellis an in-kind contribution of $4,264.58 a few days later on 1/22/2020. Then on 2/22/2020, the good folks at TOP donated $121,329.04 to Commissioner Rodney Ellis in the form of canvassing and phone banking services.

The “Sisterhood Series” Features 70 Powerful Texas Women You Should Know Who Are Doing Their Own Thing

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

I would like to take this moment to introduce our “SISTERHOOD SERIES” to you. This empowerment movement is being launched to highlight a few powerful Texas women who are doing their own thing in legal, political, and public relations fields throughout the Lone Star State. Now, while this powerful group of women is being brought to you as a corporate body, our “SISTERHOOD SERIES” should not be misconstrued as identity/gender politics in any way, shape, or form. Why? Well, all of the featured women in this series are (in their own unique way) some of the best and brightest women in America. So, recognizing these women as part of our SISTERHOOD SERIES” is our way of applauding each of them for their courage, tenacity, and ability to compete in what has traditionally been a man’s world.

TRUTH OF THE MATTER

If we’re honest with ourselves, we all know that women are still fighting an uphill battle in politics as well as inside boardrooms across America. So, let's not forget – it wasn’t long ago that women were guaranteed the right to vote. In case you don’t know, the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote was only the beginning of a much longer fight that women are continuing to fight on the campaign trail, in board rooms, and while living their everyday lives.

A VERY UNIQUE BOND

Each segment of our “SISTERHOOD SERIES” will highlight a “FEATURED SPONSOR” on the cover, and sixty-nine sitting incumbent Democratic and Republican members of the judiciary inside. So, as a community of women, each of the sixty-nine women featured as the “BODY OF THE SERIES” are linked together by their common successes in the rough and tumble world of Texas politics. Now, you can bet your bottom dollar, that some of these women will be endorsed by Houston Business Connections Newspaper©, in 2022 and 2024 “ELECTION GUIDES” when they appear on the ballot. However, unfortunately, some of these women will not make the cut. So, please do not forget that the deadline to run for political office in the “2022 MIDTERM ELECTIONS” is on Monday, December 13, 2021, in Texas. And, if you are a woman or man who is planning to run for office in 2022, you must sign up by Monday, December 13, 2021, at 6:00 pm. So, if you are not sure, what position you should run for in the Democratic Party Primary or Republican Party Primary, please call (281)788-3033, and I will try to assist you in any way I can.

MINISTERS OF JUSTICE

Every judge in America takes an oath of office and solemnly swears that they will administer justice without respect to persons and that they will do equal right to the poor and to the rich alike. So, the “MINISTERS OF JUSTICE” you see listed below, have all promised to faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon them under the United States Constitution and the laws that govern us as a free nation when they were elected. And each of them did so before the LORD God Almighty. Now, that being said, nowhere in their promise was their political party affiliation, sorority, socio-economic status, or ethnicity mentioned. So, let’s do our best going forward, to elect the “BEST AND BRIGHTEST” women and men who are committed to handing out even-handed justice to every person who enters their courtroom.

Nominating the Wrong Candidates on "SUPER TUESDAY" Could Have Disastrous Consequences in the November 2022 General Election in Harris County

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Make no mistake about it, who the people of Harris County, Texas choose to give another term to in 2022 must be about substance, job performance, judicial temperament, competence, and whether or not our members of the judiciary are following the law with their rulings. And that being said, in 2022, it is incumbent upon the voters of Harris County to evaluate the job performance of each and every sitting "ELECTED OFFICIAL" on a case-by-case basis and not as a group based on their political party affiliation, ethnicity, or gender.

THINKING ABOUT RUNNING?

If you are a candidate planning to run for office in 2022, you have to select the right candidate to run against. And the second most important thing to understand is that you have to select your race early, to avoid ending up in a crowded field of candidates on "SUPER TUESDAY" in Harris County, Texas. So, if you need assistance trying to determine which race to enter, please call (281)788-3033, and I will do my very best to answer any questions you may have.
