The Funeral Arrangements for Congressman Turner are Set; The Black Community Has Been Done a Disservice

The late Congressman Sylvester Turner (left) is scheduled to lie in state at Houston City Hall, located at 901 Bagby in downtown Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the evening. Then his body will be sent to Austin, Texas, to the state Capital to lie in state. What Commissioner Rodney Ellis (top second from right) and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (top right) just did to the people of the 18th Congressional District of Texas was selfish, egotistical, and not in the best interest of "THE BLACK COMMUNITY," in any way shape or form. Why would the "ELLIS/TURNER/LEE" regime replace a dead congress member (Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee) with a dying congress member (Congressman Sylvester Turner), forcing the people of the 18th Congressional District into mourning the deaths of two Congressional members within 7 months? People like Commissioner Rodney Ellis, the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and the late Congressman Sylvester Turner don't care about the future of "OUR PEOPLE," because they are too self-centered and absorbed. This gang of political bandits did not care less whether "BLACK JUDGES" like Judge Erica Hughes, Judge LaShawn Williams,. Judge Angela Graves Harrington, Judge Shannon Baldwin, Judge Tonya Jones, and Judge Toria Finch remained on local judicial benches.

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at around 1:15 p.m., Investigative Reporter/publisher Aubrey R. Taylor (me) will make a guest appearance on KCOH Radio, along with Hall of Fame Broadcaster Ralph Cooper, to defend my list of “TOP-CONTENDERS” for the 18th Congressional District of Texas, against Ralph Cooper’s list.

- 3/15/2025 -

On Saturday, March 15, 2025, Congressman Turner's funeral will be held at the Church Without Walls at 5725 Queenston Boulevard in West Houston. After Congressman Sylvester Turner is laid to rest, "BLACK COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS" must engage in some serious conversation about the future of politics for "BLACK PEOPLE" on the local, statewide, and national levels.

While remembering our history is essential, please remember that "BLACK HISTORY" is still being written daily. As we pause to celebrate "Women's History Month" let's not forget about female judicial "TRAILBLAZERS" like Judge Erica Hughes, Judge LaShawn A. Williams, Judge Angela Graves Harrington, Judge Shannon Baldwin, Judge Tonya Jones, and Judge Toria J. Finch. These six honorable women have been rounded into outstanding judges, "LIVING LEGENDS," who have cemented their place in the annals of Texas History.

Black leaders like State Rep. Ron Reynolds (HD-27) are gathering in Selma, Alabama, this weekend to recognize and remember the 60th anniversary of “BLOODY SUNDAY” amidst the ever-present threat that the civil rights gains accomplished over the last six decades will get rolled back with the stroke of a pen. “On the 60th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday, I was honored to join Commissioner Rodney Ellis for a private dinner with Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr., who marched with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 for racial equality,” stated State Rep. Reynolds.

United States Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) is 55, and State Rep. Ron E. Reynolds is 51, which means State Rep. Reynolds is young enough to build a lasting legacy if he decides to run for the United States Congress in the upcoming "SPECIAL ELECTION" for the 18th Congressional District of Texas. You must remember that State Rep. Reynolds is highly respected by Democrats on the local and national political stages.

There's no question about it, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (left) has emerged and positioned herself as one of the strongest female voices in national politics. At 43, Congresswoman Crockett is tirelessly challenging Democrats to stand up and be strong and courageous. Having a fearless leader like State Rep. Ron Reynolds (right) by her side in Washington, D.C., would make things much more serious. However, a United States Army Veteran named Sholdon Daniels (a Republican), has announced on Fox News Digital that he's challenging Congresswoman Crockett for her 30th Congressional District seat in the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election.

Hands down, at 55 years old, famed Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump (left) is considered one of the top voices in America. When Benjamin Lloyd Crump speaks, America listens. Crump is a lawyer of justice and fairness. And as it relates to State Rep. Ron Reynolds (right), at 51 years old, his future has never been brighter as his life story has become more of a testament to God's grace and faithfulness as State Rep. Reynolds expands his wings well beyond Fort Bend County.

Former Prizefighter turned businessman Eric Carr, the president and CEO of E&E Construction, is one of the best-kept secrets in Harris County, Texas. Carr's popularity and influence on the northeast side of Houston, Texas, could be invaluable for a candidate to win the upcoming "SPECIAL ELECTION" for the 18th Congressional District of Texas. Carr's strong brotherly bond with State Rep. Reynolds could be an essential driving factor in Reynolds's success should he decide to pursue the vacant 18th Congressional District of Texas seat.

When caring about Houston, Texas matters, you would be hard-pressed to go out and find a more vigorous advocate for the people of Houston than 44-year-old "Trae tha Truth," pictured above with State Rep. Ron Reynolds, 51, a rising star on the national political scene. Born Frazier Othel Thompson III, "Trae tha Truth," knows a thing or two about leadership because whenever there's someone in need, he's been ready and willing to answer the call to service.

The Funeral Arrangements for Congressman Turner are Set; The Black Community Has Been Done a Disservice

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at around 1:15 p.m., I will make a guest appearance on KCOH Radio, along beside Hall of Fame Broadcaster Ralph Cooper, to defend my list of “TOP-CONTENDERS” for the 18th Congressional District of Texas, against Ralph Cooper’s list.

My initial list included former State Rep. Jarvis Johnson, former State Rep. Shawn Thierry, former Councilman Dwight Boykins, State Rep. Jolanda Jones, State Rep. Christina Morales, former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, former Candidate for State Rep. Angeanette “Angie” Thibodeaux, NAACP President Bishop James Dixon, Well-Known Community Activist Travis McGee, and High-Powered Community Activist Deric Muhammad.

Since I released my “TOP TEN” list, I have been called by “COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS” who disagree with me. And I get it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but talk is cheap.

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, it broke my heart when I received a call from former Councilman Dwight Boykins, informing me that he would not contest the seat. You may not know this, but I respect, admire, and look up to Dwight Boykins, and believe that he could have gone to Washington, D.C., and made the people of the 18th Congressional District proud, in part because he knows how to work with Conservatives, and Liberals to accomplish an objective.

The message I received from Boykins read, “AT, just a FYI, I won’t be running for the 18th due to my commitment to my family. Being a member of Congress means being away from your family four days per week. I value my wife more than being elected."

The Honorable Carroll G. Robinson had been quiet on the subject since he announced that he was running for the 18th Congressional District following the death of the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee but abandoned his bid.

I reached out to Carroll G. Robinson, someone who can win a “SPECIAL ELECTION” for the seat if he chooses to run. Still, unfortunately, Carroll informed me that he would not be running for the 18th Congressional seat to replace Congressman Sylvester Turner.

My message to the Honorable Carroll G. Robinson stated, “I am working on a story. Are you considering a run for the 18th?”

Carroll’s response was, “NO.”

Another “BIG NAME” that I’ve received more calls about than any other person belongs to State Rep. Ron Reynolds, who represents the 27th House District in Fort Bend but has a strong “NAME ID” in Harris County, Texas.

You must remember about running for the 18th Congressional District seat in the upcoming “SPECIAL ELECTION” that you don’t have to live within the boundaries of the 18th Congressional District to run for the seat.

Even though State Rep. Ron Reynolds lives in Fort Bend County, he could run for the 18th Congressional District seat and still live at his current residence in Fort Bend. However, even though I believe State Rep. Ron Reynolds could win the seat hands-down, I do not think the 18th Congressional seat is right for him.

I’ve always viewed State Rep. Reynolds as a potential U.S. Congressman, but I think he should bide his time and wait for another seat to open up, allowing him to continue his service to his base – which loves him.

And get the hell away from me with that, “he’s a criminal crap.”

State Rep. Ron Reynolds is a “GOD-FEARING” man who cares about the people he represents. And he works hard for his constituents. He loves his constituents, and they love him.

At 51 years old, State Rep. Ron Reynolds has paid his debt to society for those charges brought against him in Montgomery County, Texas, years ago.

What more can he give? Leave State Rep. Ron Reynolds alone and let him continue to rise and claim his predestined position that God has set aside for him and him alone.

What the state of Texas has in Ronald Eugene Renolds is an “OVERCOMER” who knows how to triumph over adversity. As his stock rises, State Rep. Ron Reynolds’s future gets brighter daily, and God’s plan for his life unfolds.

But, as I said, State Rep. Reynolds, while he could win the 18th Congressional District of Texas seat, should stand down and not interject himself into the “SPECIAL ELECTION” for the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

REYNOLDS HAS A STRONG RESUME…

State Rep. Ron E. Renolds would be a "BREATH OF FRESH AIR" in the United States Congress if he decided to run for the 18th Congressional District of Texas. However, the only question is whether or not he should stand down and wait for another opening.

- TEXAS TRAILBLAZER -

Representative Reynolds was sworn in on January 10, 2011, as the State Representative of House District 27. Ron is currently serving his seventh term in the Texas House. He is the first African American State Representative in Fort Bend County since Reconstruction. Reynolds was named “2021 87th Session Legislator of the Year” by Fort Bend United and The Young & the Politics. His House colleagues voted him “Freshman Legislator of the Year” and “Public Servant of the Year” by the Houston Minority Contractors Association. He served as the House Minority Whip during the 83rd & 84th Legislative sessions. Reynolds is an Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity member and 100 Black Men of America.

Reynolds is the Chair of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and Vice Chair of the Texas Energy & Climate Caucus. Founder and past Chair, Texas House Progressive Caucus. He also serves as the Legislative Leader for the Texas State NAACP and the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats.

Reynolds is the ranking member of the House Committee on Environmental Regulation and Land & Resource Management.

Before being elected State Representative, Reynolds was an Associate Municipal Judge for the City of Houston, Past President of the Houston Lawyers Association, and Past President of the Missouri City & Vicinity NAACP. He is a recipient of three Honorary Doctorates; “Doctor of Humanities” from Trinity International University of Ambassadors, “Doctor of Philosophy in Humanitarianism” and a “Doctorate of Divinity” from Pendleton Chapel Seminary.

Rep. Reynolds is a devout Christian. He is a proud father of three wonderful children.

REMEMBERING CONGRESSMAN SYLVESTER TURNER…

State Rep. Ron Reynolds (left) and State Senator Borris Miles (right) are stronger men than the late Congressman Sylvester Turner could ever be in many aspects. Turner did not have it within him to be a true leader of men -- he just didn't.

- HORRIBLE MAYOR -

Former Mayor Sylvester Turner deserves to be remembered and honored as a great State Rep. Representative. However, when it comes to his tenure as mayor of the City of Houston, his legacy is mired in corruption and mismanagement – that’s the truth. And having only served as the Congressman of the 18th Congressional District for under two months, Sylvester Turner does not have a congressional legacy – NONE.

As a people, “THE BLACK COMMUNITY”  started rejecting the bull crap mainstream media and sold-out Black media outlets are feeding us.

In actuality, former Mayor Sylvester Turner was not a good man. There was nothing honorable or distinguished about “SLY,” who was nothing more than a slickster with the gift of gab in his latter days.

When will we, as a “GROUP OF PEOPLE,” start putting the people first? When are we going to way up and come to the realization that “THE BLACK COMMUNITY” is in terrible shape? When will we face the music and chart a new course for our people?

The late Congressman Sylvester Turner is scheduled to lie in state at Houston City Hall, located at 901 Bagby in downtown Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Then his body will be sent to Austin, Texas to the state Capital to lie in state.

Congressman Turner's funeral will be held at the Church Without Walls at 5725 Queenston Boulevard in West Houston on Saturday, March 15, 2025. However, what we are not going to do is gloss over the fact that the family of the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Commissioner Rodney Ellis, and the late Congressman Sylvester Turner conspired together to play a dirty trick on “BLACK PEOPLE” and are/where, three of the most selfish, egotistical, criminal-minded, career politicians in American history.

When Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was recruited to infiltrate herself into the 2023 City of Houston race, two vibrant young “BLACK LEADERS” were already in the race. Chris Hollins was a solid mayoral candidate. Former city councilwoman Amanda Edwards would have stood a much better chance against John Whitmire than Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who was humiliated.

Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Sylvester Turner, the outgoing mayor of Houston at the time, did not care about Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee or her health. Nor did they care that Chris Hollins and Amanda Edwards both had aspirations and dreams of becoming the mayor of Houston.

Mayor Turner and Commissioner Rodney Ellis, a contingent of local pastors, first bullied Chris Hollins to drop his bid for mayor and run for City Controller instead – which he did.

Ultimately, Chris Hollins, who did an excellent job when he served as the Harris County Clerk, won the 2023 City of Houston race for City Controller. However, what the “ELLIS/TURNER/LEE” regime did to Hollins is unacceptable and must be exposed.

And boy-oh-boy did the “ELLIS/TURNER/LEE” regime muscle former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, who stood her ground as long as she could. But the fact that former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards allowed herself to be bullied, harassed, and intimidated by the “ELLIS/TURNER/LEE” regime to abandon her mayor aspirations is proof positive that she does not have what it takes to be the kind of Congresswoman, the people of the 18th Congressional District of Texas needs.

Not only did former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards drop out of the 2023 Mayoral race, but she also fell for the okey-doke. She endorsed Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee over John Whitmire in the race for mayor – which was foolish.

Amanda Edwards, in mind, launched her bid to run for the 18th Congressional seat, thinking that Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee would beat Whitmire and then endorse her candidacy as a replacement, but that did not happen.

After Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was humiliated in her loss to John Whitmire, she crossed Amanda Edwards. She decided to run for re-election to her old seat, which placed Amanda Edwards in a difficult position.

Allowing herself to get played by the “ELLIS/TURNER/LEE” regime the way she did gives us a clear indication that former Councilwoman Amanda Edwards is not ready for “BIG-TIME POLITICS.” It is in no way, shape, capable of dealing with President Donald J. Trump and MAGA, “Make America Great Again,” members of Congress in Washington, D.C., during this pivotal moment in the history of our great nation.

Running against Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in the Democratic Party Primary, Amanda Edwards received 14,668 votes for 37.3%. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee dominated Edwards with 23,629 votes, for 60.0% of the vote. A guy named Robert Slater was in the race but withdrew, and endorsed Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, but still received 1,059 votes for 2.7% of the vote, which shows that any candidate with a minimal amount of name “ID” identifications could emerge from a large field of candidates, like the one I’m expecting to enter the “SPECIAL ELECTION” that Governor Greg Abbott will call soon.

A FEW THINGS TO THINK ABOUT…

The upcoming “SPECIAL ELECTION” isn’t a race like what we would see in a Democratic Party Primary, in many ways. Neither will the upcoming “SPECIAL ELECTION” resemble what you would see in a General Election, where there would be a Democrat running against a Republican in this predominantly African American Congressional District.

A grassroots candidate or community activist with a huge following could emerge victorious in the upcoming “SPECIAL ELECTION” for the 18th Congressional District if they’ve got a little cash to mount a bonified campaign quickly.

Commissioner Rodney Ellis has $6,414,367.00 in his campaign bank account, more than all of the sitting incumbent "DEMOCRATIC JUDGES" combined. However, the incumbent Democratic Judges are called upon to give the lion's share of the money donated to the Harris County Democratic Party. During the 2024 Presidential Election cycle, while more than a few Democratic Judges donated upwards of $50,000.00 to the Harris County Democratic Party out of their hard-earned campaign money, Commissioner Ellis only gave about $6,500.00 to the HCDP, which was nothing for a man with more than $6 million in his campaign account. (CLICK HERE) Please take a moment to view Commissioner Rodney Ellis's Campaign Finance Report.
