I’m sure you’ve heard all the headlines about Cynthia K. Bailey being an ex-felon and crook. But have you heard about her also being a successful businesswoman? Like her or not, Cynthia Bailey has a very impressive roster of clients, who trust and depend on her ability to consult and provide strategic canvassing, manning of election polls, and strategic campaign sign placement support throughout the region. I’ve watched Cynthia Bailey do her thing over the years, there have even been times when my crew has overlapped with her crew. You hardly ever see signs that she’s erected flying in the wind. The great thing about the work that she does on the streets, is that she appears to take great pride in her work. I once saw Cynthia Bailey riding down the street in a freaking golf cart with campaign signs hanging off the back of it. Heck, if you ask me, she’s one of the best in the darn business at what she does. Cynthia’s attention to detail is unmatched. And nope, she is not, nor has she ever been a client of mine. Nor do I expect her to become one anytime soon. Now with that said, here is an important question Houston City Council District B residents, have to ask themselves, “If Cynthia Bailey is such a bad person, why is the “Chief Executive” of the fourth most populous city in the nation, (Mayor Sylvester Turner) one of her biggest clients?” And, why is Mayor Pro-Tem (Jerry Davis) also a huge Cynthia Bailey supporter? Candidates don’t spend the kind of loot that Mayor Sylvester Turner, Jerry Davis, and a whole host of “ELECTED OFFICIALS” are spending with Cynthia Bailey – unless she’s one of the best in the business, and from what I can see she just might be. You see, since her trouble with the law, Cynthia Bailey, through hard work, determination, and diligence, has sought to better herself. She’s laced her boots up and put in some serious work to show the world that people like her can be redeemed. She’s shown a lot of folks that rehabilitation is possible. She’s demonstrated to the world that no matter what mistake (or mistakes) you make in life, that you can get back up and become all that God has predestined for you to be in my opinion. So, as I say this, I’m reminded of a passage of scripture in the Holy Bible that states, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” Look, as I said, Cynthia Bailey has not paid me one dime – nor do I expect Cynthia Bailey to use my services. However, rather than seeking to destroy her life, why can’t we all simply, just let the process play itself out. After all, there are over 98,919 registered voters living within the geographic boundaries of District B who should be allowed the opportunity to cast their ballot for whomever they please. And to this end, we just celebrated the birth, death, and resurrection of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. Now, don’t you dare go back and tell anyone that I’ve compared Cynthia Bailey to Jesus Christ. Because that’s not my intent here. However, isn’t becoming a new creation what being born again is all about? Run Cynthia run!!!

The Houston City Council District B Race Held Way Back on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, Was A Complete and Utter Mess on Too Many Level

This Houston City Council District B race is a complete mess and a serious embarrassment. Now folks are even alleging that several candidates (not just Cynthia Bailey) on that Tuesday, November 5, 2019 ballot had criminal records. Heck, some folks are even claiming that the first-place finisher also has a criminal issue. "For the record, I've never been convicted of a felony," said Tarsha Jackson via a recent text message I've received from her. "Nor do I have a felony," she said. Now, some concerned District B residents are beginning to wonder if the third-place finisher Renee Jefferson Smith can be placed back on the ballot. Talk about a mess! Here we go again. Anyways…I digress. So, as a refresher, back on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, Renee Jefferson Smith was the odds-on favorite to win the Houston City Council District B contest – at least some political pundits and analysts in the Houston area felt that way. And to her credit, I thought that Renee Jefferson Smith was a lock to finish, at the very least, first or second. Never in a million years did I think that Renee Jefferson Smith would finish out-of-the-money. After all, she had been campaigning for over a year (maybe even longer) before the start of the election, and had more financial backing and endorsements than all of the other candidates in the race. And above that, her confidence level was pretty high going into Election Day. However, when the election night results began to file in, it was clear that Tarsha Jackson, and not Renee Jefferson Smith was the proverbial “BIG DOG IN THE BACK YARD” with the most bite. However, Renee Jefferson Smith, for most of the night appeared to be firmly affixed, in the runner-up position. Then something strange happened. What? I’m about to tell you if you hold your horses. Harris County Clerk, Diane Trautman announced that no more voting results would be reported until the following morning in what I’ve been calling “THE BLACKOUT PERIOD” for some time now.

All I’m going to say about “THE BLACKOUT PERIOD” is that some very strange stuff happened, that I am still not able to understand – not even all of these months later. But that’s a story for another day. Anyways, “THE BLACKOUT PERIOD” turned out very bad for Renee Jefferson Smith. She entered “THE BLACKOUT PERIOD,” in second place, and when it was lifted by Harris County Clerk Diane Trautman the next morning, Renee Jefferson Smith found herself in third place behind Cynthia Bailey. This had to be a sheer shock! After all, Cynthia Bailey is the person that nobody believed had a real shot because she was the only person who had been forthcoming in “OPENLY-TALKING” about her criminal past. You see, Cynthia Bailey went all around District B explaining to voters that she was an ex-felon who had served her time in prison. From what I understand, nearly every candidate in the race back on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, was fully aware of Cynthia Bailey’s past transgressions. “I told everyone I could that I had a past drug addiction, that I had recovered from,” Cynthia Bailey told me a few months ago in a phone interview. “I gave everybody as much information as I could about me,” she said. “I have nothing to hide from nobody,” said Bailey by phone. “Renee Jefferson Smith came to my home with her husband before the election and we talked about all of this – and it wasn’t a problem,” Bailey went on to say.

According to the “OFFICIAL” cumulative report that was released by the Harris County Clerk’s Office, back on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, the top three candidates were, Tarsha Jackson, Cynthia Bailey and Renee Jefferson Smith. However, there were eleven other candidates in the race. In case you don’t remember Alice Kirkmon, Ben White, Jr., Karen “KKC” Kossie-Chernyshev, Robin J. Anderson, Broderick F. Butler, Alvin D. Byrd, Prince E.W. Bryant II, Karisma D. Gillam, Kenneth Perkins, Huey German-Wilson and Alyson Quintana were all vying for the Houston City Council District B seat as well. As a refresher, Tarsha Jackson received 3,322 votes, for 20.85% of the vote to finish first. Cynthia Bailey received 2,302 votes, for 14.45% of the vote. Renee Jefferson Smith received 2,137 votes for 13.14% of the vote. Alvin D. Byrd received 1,630 votes, for 10.30% of the vote. Karen “KKC” Kossie-Chernyshev received 1,408 votes, for 8.84% of the vote. Prince E.W. Bryant II received 879 votes, for 5.52% of the vote. Alyson Quintana received 846 votes, for 5.31% of the vote. Alice Kirkmon 819 votes, for 5.14% of the vote. Kenneth received 748 votes, for 4.69% of the vote. Ben White Jr. received 719 votes, for 5.14% of the vote. Huey German-Wilson received 327 votes, for 2.05% of the vote. Robin J. Anderson received 320 votes for 2.01% of the vote. Broderick F. Butler received 301 votes, for 1.89% of the vote. And Karisma D. Gillam received 174 votes, for 1.09% of the vote.

Cynthia K. Bailey is a businesswoman who has worked feverishly to turn her life around since she was released from prison many years ago. Sure, it’s no secret that she suffered from past drug addiction – but on the surface, it seems that she’s done well on her road to recovery. Sure, there’s no doubt that Cynthia Bailey played a key role in a very complex scheme to defraud the now (defunct) North Forest Independent School District out of more than 200,000 dollars. Whether she stole 5,000 dollars or a greater amount, Cynthia K. Bailey admitted to her wrong-doing, laced up her boots, and paid her debt to society. Yes, Cynthia K. Bailey was the key witness against her other co-conspirators in the “CHECK-WASHING SCHEME” according to court records. Yes, she met with Valerie Renee Gibson, a former North Forest bookkeeper in a parking lot shortly before the 2003 Thanksgiving holiday and accepted a blank check which was eventually made payable to a sham corporation for a whopping $242,971.75. Nope, it doesn’t make sense that Cynthia K. Bailey, according to her admission only received $5,000 of the $242,971.75 that was stolen. But whatever the case, Cynthia Bailey, has paid her debt to society and has had her voting rights restored. Now, whether or not she should be allowed to serve the people of Houston City Council District B, is for the people to decide. You know, in reality, there’s a lot of elected officials who have given Bailey a second chance at redemption. And from what I can see, she hasn’t let them down. She appears to have performed like a champ, since being released from prison. She appears to be a model-citizen according to the folks I’ve talked to regarding this matter. After all, a whole slew of local politicians values the work Cynthia Bailey and does by way of consulting and ground-game management. Now, I am not going to mention everybody who uses her services, but I will mention two men who I believe most of you should know.

The word on the streets for months now has been that Mayor Sylvester Turner ‘allegedly’ paid Cynthia Bailey a lump sum of money. Look, guys, Cynthia Bailey has a legitimate business and deserves a chance to redeem herself, and continue to turn her life around. Now, whether or not she should be allowed the chance to serve the people of District B on Houston City Council is up to the voters to decide in my opinion. Now look, I haven’t heard anyone say that Cynthia Bailey stole those 2,302 votes she received back on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, to make the runoff. So, as it stands right now, it looks like the voters of District B don’t have a problem with her representing them at Houston City Hall. So, when you sit down and think about it, the saddest part about all of this mess, is that nearly all of the ongoing “POLITICAL CRAP” swirling around Harris County, Texas during this coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic appears to be centered around Black people. What’s up with that? Anyways, from what I can see right now, Cynthia Bailey has some pretty strong “POLITICAL CONNECTIONS” already. After all, Mayor Sylvester Turner has used her as a consultant, as well as compensated her and her street crew/army of legitimate poll workers’ salaries, wages, and has even paid Cynthia Bailey as a contract laborer. So, once again, from what I’ve discovered, Mayor Sylvester Turner believes in Cynthia Bailey – so does Councilman Jerry Davis. Enough with the rumors! Stop it!!! For months now, the rumors that have been floating around that Mayor Sylvester Turner ‘allegedly’ gave Cynthia Bailey a check for over $17,000.00, or something to that effect is flat wrong. This crap reminds me of an old saying, “Believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear.” In essence, all I am trying to say is this, Cynthia Bailey is more than an ex-felon – she’s a legitimate businesswoman, who deserves a chance to prove to us all, the American dream is attainable – even after a transgression of the law, if you are willing to lace your boots up and grind.
