According to a press release issued by Mary Nan Huffman’s Campaign, Kim Ogg, the current District Attorney for Harris County, Texas refused to accept the charges that were brought to her office against Elmer Manzano, just two days before the alleged senseless killing of HPD Sergeant Harold Preston. “He pulled the trigger, but Kim Ogg put the gun in his hands,” said Mary Nan Huffman in the statement released to give the citizens of Harris County, Texas the back-story related to how the tragic loss of life, of yet another law enforcement officer, was 100% preventable. “Kim Ogg must be held responsible for HPD Sergeant Preston’s death on Tuesday, November 3, 2020,” says Mary Nan Huffman.

The entire city of Houston is in mourning today! As you’ve probably heard by now, Sgt. Harold Preston was killed in the line of duty yesterday. According to a press release I received from the city of Houston, Mayor Sylvester Turner visited Memorial Hermann Hospital yesterday to pay his respects to the two Houston Police Officers who were shot during a domestic violence disturbance on the southwest side of Houston. While as I said, Sgt. Preston could not overcome his injuries, but fortunately, Officer Courtney Waller only suffered non-life-threatening injuries. "I thank Sgt. Harold Preston for his service, dedication, and commitment to our city. I ask everyone to pray for his loved ones, including his parents, daughter, and extended HPD family. Sgt. Preston served our city honorably for more than four decades. He was well known in the community and widely respected within the department. We will celebrate his life of service, dedication, and commitment to the City of Houston," said Mayor Turner in the press release I received by email yesterday. He went on to say, "I also ask everyone to pray for HPD Officer Courtney Waller, who was injured by the same suspect. Please lift him and his family and pray for his complete recovery. Officer Waller has been with HPD for two years, and we appreciate his service,” said Mayor Turner.

"Every day, police officers respond to unsafe locations. Law enforcement is a dangerous job, and officers put their lives on the line because they love and want to protect our city," explained Mayor Turner. And I agree with Mayor Turner, in his assessment that we must indeed keep going. However, we must also make it our business to elect the “BEST-QUALIFIED CANDIDATES” who believe in justice and fairness – but are also willing to be tough on crime. Mayor Turner went on to say, "These are moments that as police officers, firefighters, and municipal employees, in times like these that we rely on our faith. 2020 has been a rough year. As a city, we have to keep going. We still have people that we have to protect. We still need police officers to do their job even through their hurt and pain; even firefighters must do their job through their pain. We have to rely on something greater than ourselves. And for me, I rely on my faith."

In case you don’t know, we can no longer sit back and allow the mainstream media to be our only source of news and information. A lot of times they will only give you so much of the story. Hell, and half of the time they won’t even do that. Anyways, according to a press release I received from Mary Nan Huffman yesterday, I learned that back on Sunday, October 18th, two days before Sgt. Preston being killed, HPD Officers had responded to a call from Mrs. Santos, stating that her ex-husband, Mr. Elmer Manzano, was at the location brandishing a gun and threatening her and her children. According to the press release from Huffman, the HPD Officers took Elmer Manzano into custody that day, but as she explains it Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg declined to take the charges. And instead, instructed the HPD Officers to release Elmer Manzano. An act that caused the gun that was allegedly used to kill HPD Sgt. Harold Preston to be left at the scene. “He pulled the trigger, but Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg put the gun in his hands,” says Mary Nan Huffman, who is on Harris County’s, Tuesday, November 3, 2020, ballot trying to unseat Kim Ogg in the race for District Attorney. “Had charges been accepted, Mr. Manzano might be back on the street, but his gun and ammunition would have been seized and held as evidence,” she says. “No gun would have meant no dead officer,” Huffman explained in her press release. “The actions of Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg are inexcusable,” she went on to say. “Her actions are directly responsible for the death of HPD Sergeant Preston,” proclaimed Mary Nan Huffman.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Fort Bend ISD Trustee Kristin Tassin is being challenged by Dr. Shirley Rose-Guilliam in the FBISD Position #4 race. As a reminder, these two candidates faced off against each other back in 2017 in a close race -- but there was a third candidate, by the name of Rodrigo Carreon in that race. In case you don't remember, Dr. Shirley Rose-Gilliam gave Tassin all she could handle and would have forced her into a runoff -- if FBISD had runoff elections. Anyways, as a refresher, back in 2017, Kristin Tassin received 2,654 votes, for 49.35% of the vote. Dr. Shirley Rose-Gilliam received 2,227 votes, for 41.41% of the vote. And Rodrigo Carreon received 497 votes for 9.24% of the vote. So, please don't forget that Dr. Shirley Rose-Gilliam is asking for your vote in this race.
