JUDGE MICHELLE SLAUGHTER: “The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (CCA) is the supreme court for criminal cases in Texas, and demands electing judges to serve on this court who have judicial experience, exceptional credentials, and a proven track record. Currently, I am serving my second term as a district judge. I have presided over thousands of felony criminal cases ranging from state-jail felonies to capital murder cases. I have transformed the 405th District Court into the most efficient, most effective district court with the lowest backlog.

Before becoming a judge, I was an attorney at two large international law firms litigating highly complex legal issues in state and federal courts across the United States. I earned my law degree with honors and my bachelor’s degree with high honors from the University of Houston.

I'm expecting for Judge Michelle Slaughter to roll to victory over her Libertarian Party challenger on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. After all, she's already faced her toughest challenge, which was to win the Republican nomination. And she did so in good-fashion over two worthy fellow Republicans back in the Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Republican Party Primary. So, as a refresher, Judge Michelle Slaughter received more votes than both her Republican Party Primary opponents combined by garnering 669,949 statewide votes, while Jay Brandon received 389,753 statewide votes, and Dib Waldrip received 208,179 statewide votes respectively. Again, I'm expecting for Judge Michelle Slaughter to handily defeat Mark Ash, her Libertarian challenger. Court of Criminal Appeals Place 8: Michelle Slaughter, Galveston (pictured) won the State Bar of Texas 2018 Judicial Poll with 989 votes over Mark Ash, Houston who finished with 809 votes; Jay Brandon, San Antonio who finished with 958 votes; and Dib Waldrip, New Braunfels who finished with 718 votes.

In case you haven’t heard, the State Bar of Texas announced results of its statewide 2018 Judicial Poll recently. Members of the State Bar of Texas were given an opportunity to vote on candidates in their respective courts of appeals races as well as statewide races. The results are in no way an endorsement of any candidate by the State Bar of Texas, its officers, directors, or staff. The results reflect the opinions of the individual lawyers who voted. “In all actuality, the lawyers are essentially the ones who know these judicial candidates best,” says Aubrey R.
