2013 Dulles Vikings Varsity Baseball Team |
FORT BEND ISD ― The Dulles High School (DHS) Vikings baseball team provided much excitement for their team, parents, fans and school as they continued to advance in the playoffs, eventually earning a spot at the 5A State Championship game on Saturday, June 8, in Round Rock at Dell Stadium.
While they ultimately lost the championship game to The Woodlands High School in a hard-fought battle, the DHS Vikings ended their season with an impressive record of 32 wins and only 8 losses.
“The coaching staff is proud of this team for their great season,” said head baseball coach Clinton Welch. “The players worked hard and made many sacrifices along the way. On behalf of the team, we also want to acknowledge and thank the fans who continuously energized this team with their support.”
Following the game, the team participated in a graduation ceremony on the field for the 14 senior team members who were missing their school’s graduation ceremony being held that day. Grayle James, Board of Trustees Assistant Secretary, was there to present the players with their diplomas.
Varsity team members include: Dallas Johnson, Preston Clarke, Josh Austin, Caden Williams, Matt McGee, Cameron Calhoun, Jesse Ramirez, Darryn Sheppard, Zack Belski, Eric Johnson, Brian Harvey, Nick Hernandez, Alex Merchant, Kishan Patel, Coleman Butler, Jaylen Hubbard, Dakota Mills, John Alvarez and Dillon Dinges.
The coaching staff includes head coach Clinton Welch, Larry Cernoch and Mike Dutka, as well trainer Thomas Phillips.
