Democrats Can't Win Statewide in Texas Without Fully Supporting Someone Like Deirdre Gilbert at the Top of Their Ticket

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "The definition of insanity is to keep doing things the same way and expecting a different result. That said, the Democratic establishment tried to push Andrew White, the son of former Texas Governor Mark White as their savior back during the 2018 Midterm Election. However, Democratic voters rejected Andrew White (center) for Lupe Valdez, a Latina woman with no money, charisma, or support from party bosses. However, whatever Lupe Valdez lacked in the measurables party bosses require, she made up for it with her intestinal fortitude and drive. Now, that beautiful African American woman you see pictured on the far right above is Deirdre Gilbert and she's the real deal. She has every intangible needed to deliver the Texas Democratic Party to the "PROMISE LAND" if she's fully embraced, accepted and supported. Now, for all of my naysayers who don't believe that a duly-qualified African American woman can run statewide in Texas (with no support from the establishment) I respectfully ask you to look, at how the two duly-qualified African American Democratic women from the Dallas/Fort Worth area ran statewide their campaigns with virtually no support from the Democratic Party, or party bosses back during the 2020 Presidential Election."

In case you don't know, back  in the 2020 Presidential Election when the "UNOFFICIAL RETURN NUMBERS" were published by the Texas Secretary of State, (#1) Joe Biden finished with 5,211,406 running statewide in the Lone Star State. (#2) Staci Williams finished with 4,943,344 statewide votes, (#3) Elizabeth Frizell finished with 4,923,597 statewide votes, (#4) Tina Clinton finished with 4,883,012 statewide votes, (#5) Kathy Cheng finished with 4,862,837 statewide votes, (#6) Amy Clark Meachum finished with 4,852,857 statewide votes, (#7) Mary "MJ" Hegar finished with 4,844,433 statewide votes, (#8) Brandon Birmingham finished with 4,825,705 statewide votes, (#9) Gisela D. Triana finished with 4,786,649 statewide votes, (#10) Chrysta Castañeda finished with 4,752,743 statewide votes back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election as far as Texas is concerned.

Top 10 Ranking of Democrats Indicates that Turning Texas Blue Without the Black Vote Won’t Happen in the 2022 Midterms

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

What everyone seems to have missed, perhaps by design, is the fact that Judge Staci Williams finished with the highest vote total that any candidate has ever received running statewide in the Lone Star State. And not far behind her was former Judge Elizabeth Frizell. I wonder if being from the Dallas/Fort Worth area had anything to do with it? What do they have in the water over there? And get this, Mary “MJ” Hegar only managed to finish in the #7 position when ranked against the performances put up by her fellow Democrats. And that’s after Mary “MJ” Hegar raised $24,024,713, spent $17,212,222, and still has about $6,859,973 in the bank. Can you imagine what would have happened if the “DEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATIONS & LEADERS” who anointed Mary “MJ” Hegar as the chosen candidate to take on Sen. John Cornyn had put that kind of loot behind state Senator Royce West?

TOP TEN 2020 DEMOCRATS WHO RAN STATEWIDE IN TEXAS

So, while the push for the Hispanic/Latino vote is very important as the 2022 Midterms Election cycle gets underway – DON’T GET IT TWISTED!!! Any chance to turn “TEXAS BLUE” must include a committed strategy for Democrats to load their field with a stellar group of “AFRICAN AMERICAN NOMINEES” or it’s game over! Anyways, here are your “TOP TEN DEMOCRATS” based on the “Unofficial Returns” that have been released by the Texas Secretary of State.

#1 – Joseph R. Biden (Democrat) received 5,211,406 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. In case you don’t know, he finished behind President Donald Trump (Republican) in the Lonestar Star State who finished with 5,860,096 statewide votes. However, the vote has not been certified and declared official just yet.

#2 – Judge Staci Williams (Democrat) received 4,943,344 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. While she did not win her race and become the first African American woman to serve on the Texas Supreme Court, she did make history by garnering more votes than any other woman of any ethnicity in Texas history. In hindsight, it’s beginning to look more and more like the Texas Democratic Party missed a golden opportunity by not hitching their wagon to Judge Staci Williams (African American) who was running against Texas Supreme Court Justice Jeff Boyd (one of my Republican clients) in the race for Texas Supreme Court, Place 7, and former Judge Elizabeth Davis Frizell who was running against Judge Bert Richardson (one of my Republican clients) in the race for Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3, back on November 3, 2020. In case you don’t know, Judge Staci Williams, one of the senior-most African American judges in the state of Texas, pretty much used up all of her finances having to fight a tough primary battle against a fellow Democrat, by the name of Brandy Voss – who was highly-favored and supported by many Democratic groups in her quest to defeat Judge Staci Williams.

#3 – Elizabeth Davis Frizell (Democrat) received 4,923,597 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. She ran against Judge Bert Richardson (Republican) in the race for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3, and lost. *Please note that the results of this race have not been declared official by the Texas Secretary of State yet.

#4 – Judge Tina Clinton (Democrat) received 4,883,012 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. She ran against Judge Kevin Patrick Yeary (Republican) in the race for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 4, and lost. *Please note that the results of this race have not been declared official by the Texas Secretary of State yet.

#5 – Kathy Cheng (Democrat) received 4,862,837 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. She ran against Justice Jane Bland (Republican) in the race for Justice, Texas Supreme Court, Place 6, and lost. *Please note that the results of this race have not been declared official by the Texas Secretary of State yet.

#6 – Amy Clark Meachum (Democrat) received 4,852,857 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. She ran against Chief Justice Nathan Hecht (Republican) in the race for Chief Justice, Texas Supreme Court, and lost. *Please note that the results of this race have not been declared official by the Texas Secretary of State yet.

#7 – Mary “MJ” Hegar (Democrat) received 4,844,433 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. She ran against U.S. Senator John Cornyn in the race for U.S. Senator and didn’t come close to beating him. In fact, to put it bluntly, she got her butt kicked and should have never been the Democratic nominee in the race for the United States Senate in the first place. How can I say this? Well, State Senator Royce West, whom Mary “MJ” Hegar defeated back on July 14, 2020, in my opinion, should have been the Democratic nominee. However, because Mary “MJ” Hegar had a compelling story, and perhaps for a few other reasons, that I don’t care to talk about at this point beat state Senator Royce West (African American) with the support of a bunch of Democratic groups and organizations. And the fact that she was endorsed by the (DSCC) Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee without any consideration of the fact that there were several duly-qualified Black candidates competing for the Democratic nomination was very disappointing and disrespectful. Did you know that according to (opensecrets.comU.S. Senator John Cornyn raised $30,754,633, spent $29,862,946, and still has $3,803,468 in the bank? And get this, Mary “MJ” Hegar spent too much loot to only finish in the seventh position in terms of the number of votes she received. Hell, just imagine if Judge Staci Williams or former Judge Elizabeth Frizell had received a fraction of the support that Hegar received. How much money did she receive? Well, according to (opensecrets.comMary “MJ” Hegar raised $24,024,713, spent $17,212,222, and still has about $6,859,973 in the bank – that’s quite a hall for a candidate to only finish seventh in the ranking when compared to her fellow Democrats.

#8 – Brandon Birmingham (Democrat) received 4,825,705 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. He ran against Judge David Newell (Republican) in the race for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 9, and lost. *Please note that the results of this race have not been declared official by the Texas Secretary of State yet.

#9 – Gisela D. Triana (Democrat) received 4,786,649 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. He ran against Justice Brett Busby (Republican) in the race for Texas Supreme Court, Place 8, and lost. *Please note that the results of this race have not been declared official by the Texas Secretary of State yet.

#10 – Chrysta Castañeda (Democrat) received 4,752,743 votes running statewide in the Lone Star State back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election. She ran against James “Jim” Wright (Republican) in the race for Texas Rail Road Commissioner and lost. *Please note that the results of this race have not been declared official by the Texas Secretary of State yet.

SUMMARY REPORT

It is evidently clear that any shot to turn Texas Blue will only be realized by the Texas Democratic Party and other Democratic organizations hitching their wagons to the campaigns of the right “AFRICAN AMERICAN CANDIDATES” and then putting the “FINANCIAL MUSCLE” behind those particular candidates. Contrary to the narrative and spin that Hispanics/Latinos are the future of the Democratic Party, it is imperative for “DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP” to take a hard look at how Judge Staci Williams and former Judge Elizabeth Frizell ran with very little money back on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in the general election.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: “Windows of opportunity open and close. I am going to say that again for all of the people who are way in the back – WINDOWS OF OPPORTUNITY OPEN AND CLOSE! Now, do you see that beautiful African American woman pictured above on the left? Well, I’ve been watching that life-long Democrat by the name of Deirdre Gilbert get disrespected, and ignored by the local media, the Democratic Party, and even a whole bunch of Black folks. Why? Well, because many of them are hoping and praying for someone like former Congressman Beto O’Rourke to fly in with a white cape on and guide Democratic hopefuls to statewide victories up and down the ballot in the upcoming 2022 Gubernatorial Election in Texas. However, what those folks do not understand is that they actually already have a duly-qualified Black woman whom (if they would fully embrace and support her) could actually give them a really good shot to make a strong run at Governor Greg Abbott in the 2022 Gubernatorial Election for Texas.”

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "It would be awesome to see the Texas Democratic Party fully embrace a duly-qualified African American for once. Deirdre Gilbert is one of those "ONCE IN A LIFETIME CANDIDATES" who is uniquely prepared to reach far beyond the Democratic base in the upcoming 2022 Gubernatorial Election if she can get the financial support she needs."

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "One of the smartest things that former Congressman Beto O'Rourke could do in the upcoming 2022 Midterm Election is not run for Governor of Texas; but rather, use his influence to unify the Democratic Party and raise money for duly-qualified Democratic Party candidates all across the state of Texas who are in desperate need of campaign funds in the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic."

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "While the Democratic Party is waiting for people like Beto O'Rourke and Matthew McConaughey to announce their plans, lifelong Democrat Deirdre Gilbert has emerged as the clear and decisive front-runner in the race for Governor of Texas on the Democratic side."

Deirdre Gilbert Has Emerged as the Clear Front-Runner to Win the 2022 Democratic Party Nomination for Governor of Texas

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

I’ve been watching Deirdre Gilbert’s campaign quietly gain momentum over the last couple of months. And with the continued hesitancy to commit – Former Congressman Beto O’Rourke who got totally embarrassed and exposed when he tried to run for President of the United States back during the 2020 Presidential Election – Gilbert could end up being the logical choice for Democratic primary voters looking for a duly-qualified candidate who’s fully committed to the task of taking out Republican Gov. Greg Abbott next fall.

WHY DEIRDRE IS THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR DEMOCRATIC PARTY PRIMARY VOTERS IN TEXAS

Deirdre Gilbert is the kind of Democrat who can appeal to groups beyond the Democratic party base in a general election. Her values and unique ability to communicate with people of all ethnicities and socio-economic statuses gives her a decided advantage over someone like former Congressman Beto O’Rourke in my opinion. “I want to be the voice of communities,” she recently told me in a phone interview. “I’m committed to changing minds and clearly defining my values and love for America, our U.S. Constitution, between now and Super Tuesday,” she said. “We need a governor who is committed to hearing the voices of the people and igniting discussions that lead to solutions and implementing those solutions in a manner that ultimately lead to change,” she went on to say.

IT TAKES A SPECIAL KIND OF CANDIDATE TO WIN A STATEWIDE RACE IN TEXAS

Symbolic gestures won’t work in the 2022 Midterm Elections. Did you hear me? Look, race-baiting and trying to get people to cast votes for candidates solely based upon their ethnicity is a practice that should be abandoned and abolished going forward. That being said, if any of my friends in the media would take a moment and get to know Deirdre Gilbert, they’d quickly realize that she’s actually got a plan that could resonate with people far beyond the Democratic Party’s base – which is what’s needed for Democrats to have any opportunity to turn Texas blue in 2022.

REPUBLICANS CURRENTLY HOLD EVERY STATEWIDE OFFICE IN TEXAS

As it stands right now, talk is cheap! Look, according to their website, “Texas is the strongest Republican state in the nation. The people of Texas have entrusted Republicans with the stewardship of every statewide elected office and majorities in the state senate, state house and on the state board of education. Republicans now have majorities in 107 Texas counties that contain nearly two-thirds of the state’s population. And Texas’ own George W. Bush was the 43rd President of the United States.” Did you get that? No. I mean did you really get that?

NO DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE HAS WON A STATEWIDE RACE IN TEXAS SINCE 1994

Listen!!! Unless Democrats start to fully embrace duly-qualified African American candidates, they’re going to forever get their butts kicked on the statewide level. Why? Well, in case you don’t know, according to Wikipedia.org, Texas has not even elected a Democrat for a statewide office since way back in 1994 when Bob Bullock, John Sharp, and Garry Morales, John Sharp, and Garry Mauro were re-elected as lieutenant governor, attorney general, comptroller, and land commissioner respectively.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "As it stands right now, Deirdre Gilbert is the front-runner in the race for Governor of Texas on the Democratic Party side in my opinion. And with the filing date of Monday, December 13, 2021, quickly approaching, Democrats should put their support and money behind this duly-qualified African American woman."

DEIRDRE GILBERT IS THE KIND OF CANDIDATE DEMOCRATS SHOULD RALLY AROUND

Deirdre Gilbert has earned her M.A. in Educational Administration, her B.S. in Political Science and Mass Communication (Cum Laude) from Prairie View A&M University; she is a native Houstonian, a graduate of the public school system attending elementary, middle and high school graduating from Madison high. Deirdre has resided in Harris County for over 40 years before settling in Fort Bend County for over 10 years. Deirdre is an educator with 26 years of experience working in Houston, Aldine, and Fort Bend School Districts and is a former Houston Independent School District teacher’s union representative.

Her mother was a key influence in her life. She was a community activist and the first black woman to run for Constable in Harris County. Deirdre is best known in the community and around the country for her fight, both personally and publicly, for justice for those of medical negligence. After losing her only child, Jocelyn, because of medical negligence, Deirdre confronted the medical community and the state agencies that support it. She stood not only for herself and in memory of her daughter, but on behalf of people around the state and across the country who have felt powerless in the wake of such devastating loss.

Deirdre has worked tirelessly in her own community of Sienna Plantation, further, she’s worked on issues such as denial of voting rights in local elections within Missouri City, and MUD District issues. She has spoken before the Texas Legislature and U.S. Congress in Washington D.C on civil rights. Deirdre has helped to shape legislation regarding whistleblowers, medical malpractice, and education. Deirdre is not afraid of a battle and is willing to speak for those who are unable to speak for themselves. In addition to helping those in her community, state, local and national, she also works for a non-profit that help veterans find employment.

Deirdre has been capturing the attention of media nationally for some time. In 2007, she released her first book entitled, “Can I Just Have a Little Bit? A Little Bit of What?” Her recent work, “Momma Help Me Please,” was inspired by the first love of her life, her daughter Jocelyn.

Deirdre is an avid speaker at book clubs, churches, professional, civic and community organizations.

She has been featured in Beautifully Said Magazine and African American Newspaper; mentioned in Harper’s Magazine by Ralph Nader a strong advocate for justice, received professional recognition in Women on the Move section of the Houston Business Journal, featured in Bronze Magazine several times and in Saved Magazine along with other powerful women in ministry such as Joyce Meyers. Deirdre was mentioned in Washington Post, Stat News and several online publications regarding her stance on medical malpractice. This journey has led to the first Blog Talk Show “Life” Radio Show that focused on “victims” of medical malpractice and then rebranded with another show called “Med/Mal Radio Show-What’s Your Verdict and just recently Malpractice Diaries-MD –We Tell the Secrets they Keep.

Since 2011, Deirdre Gilbert has not backed down from her challenges, founding non-profits such as the National Medical Malpractice Advocacy Association (NMMAA), serving as its National Director, and Executive Director of the Jocelyn Y. Dickson Foundation. NMMAA is a non-partisan educational organization that was created to promote transparency, accountability and integrity in the medical profession. Through NMMAA’s educational endeavor, she advocates high standards of ethics and morality to ensure non-abuse of the powers entrusted to the profession by the American people. Under her direction, these non-profits have gained support from members of Congress, garnered attention and recognition among state lawmakers, and sparked open dialogue and inquiry into medical negligence. With her husband of 7 years, Mr. Kurt E. Gilbert, beside her, she has spoken boldly before Medical Boards, Government Agencies, the State Legislature, and the US Congress calling for repeal of TORT Reforms, review of the Information Act as it relates to medical doctors, greater accountability in the hospital industry, and Justice for All who fall victim to healthcare abuse. The core of her message is consistent, Justice for All.

Deirdre achieved a milestone twice, first when she was asked to speak at the Whistleblower’s Summit in Washington, DC 2016 and again in 2019 when she provided testimony at the Senate Judiciary Committee Hearings about the devastating effects of medical malpractice. She has spearheaded the nation’s 1st Medical Malpractice Conference that convened medical professionals, attorneys, civil rights leaders, social justice organizations, patient safety advocates and legislative leaders. Her third milestone was when she threw her hat in the political ring and decided to run for Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2, Fort Bend County, TX. Deirdre assisted with having H.R. 614 resolution filed in the Texas Legislature, recognizing Medical Malpractice in the State of Texas. In addition, Deirdre created a new initiative, “The Medical Malpractice Right to Justice Project’s mission to assist those harmed by medical negligence and who’s cases was never heard in a court of law, to bring these cases before a court based on evidence ranging from misstated/understated or erroneous death certificates, misstated/understated/overstated or erroneous expert reports, altered or falsified medical records, existence of individual, hospital, physician, and institutional agencies conflict of interest.

Deirdre Gilbert was instrumental in getting the 1st proclamation in 2013 recognizing July as Medical Malpractice Month. Since then, the organization has been given recognition from the State of Missouri’s Governor Jeremiah W. Nixon, the State of Colorado’s Governor John Hickenlooper, and the State of Georgia’s Governor Nathan Deal. The organization have also received several congressional, state and local recognition. Deirdre created the first PSA that aired on Harkins movie screens across the states September 2016, promoting and educating the public on “Preventable Medical Mistakes.” In 2019 NMMAA received the 1st Enrolled House Resolution 86 (R) HR 614 by the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas Legislature recognizing July as Medical Malpractice Month.

Deirdre Gilbert was vital in the creation of the first chapter of attorneys in the State of Louisiana and Virginia that have acquired lobbyist that handles the legislative needs of NMMAA. The lobbying action is geared towards bill drafting and legislative reform to help those harmed by egregious acts from medical malpractice.

Deirdre has worked tirelessly with The Government Accountability Project, The Black Heritage Society, Greater Houston Coalition for Justice, Make It Safe Campaign, The National Association for Probate Reform & Advocacy, NAACP-Health Chair Committee Missouri City Chapter, NAACP-Fort Bend-Wharton Chapter, National Action Network to create the first medical malpractice health initiative, National Congress of Black Women, State of Texas Sunset Advisory Committee.

“Freedoms are FREE, Respect is EARNED, and Accountability is DEMANDED. None of these are easy to obtain, but necessary.”

And that being said, in 2022, it is incumbent upon the voters of Harris County to evaluate the job performance of each and every sitting "ELECTED OFFICIAL" on a case-by-case basis and not as a group based on their political party affiliation, ethnicity, or gender.
