AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Mayor Allen Owen is running for re-election in Missouri City, Texas on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. If you live in Missouri City, Texas and want to run for office on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, the filing period started back on Saturday, July 21, 2018, and will close on Monday, August 20, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. sharp. The race for Mayor of Missouri City, Texas, Councilmember At-Large Position No. 1, and Councilmember At-Large Position No. 2 will be on the ballot this coming November.

Mayor Allen Owen and his wife Jane have been married for more than 50 years. And they’ve spent over 40 of those years serving the people of Missouri City, Texas. I can assure you that they both love “The Show Me City,” dearly. As for Mayor Allen Owen, well, he's dedicated his life to being a committed husband, father, business and civic leader in the city he loves. However, back during the October 17, 2016, regular Missouri City, Texas Council meeting, Councilmembers voted 4-3 to approve a resolution that moved Missouri City's general election from May to November. Thus, Mayor Allen Owen needs the vote of every registered voter who lives within the boundaries of Missouri City, Texas to remain in office. So, please, please, please, remind all your family, friends, co-workers, and associates that early voting will begin on Monday, October 22, 2018, and end on Friday, November 2, 2018.

AUBREY R. TAYLOR: "On behalf of the Houston Business Connections Newpaper© I would like to thank Jacquie Baly for endorsing Mayor Allen Owen in his bid for re-election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the race for Mayor of Missouri City, Texas. In case you don't already know, Mayor Allen Owen values every vote. And he's asking for your vote inside this "FORT BEND COUNTY SPOTLIGHT" edition of Houston Business Connections Newspaper©. So, please be reminded that early voting will begin on Monday, October 22, 2018, and end Friday, November 2, 2018. And finally, please, please, please, don't forget that it's imperative that we make it our business to elect the "BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATES" who value us we go to the polls to vote."

In the race for FBISD Position 1 Trustee Jason Burdine is being challenged by L. Angelo DeCamps for his seat on the Fort Bend Independent School Board.

A Native of Texas, Jason has lived in the Fort Bend Independent School District for the past nine years. He and his wife, Andrea, have built a family here together providing for their two children Blake, and Makalya. As parents of a Fort Bend ISD student, Jason has expressed the desire to commit more of his time working alongside the local community to help secure the American Dream for all of the children in FBISD.

Jason is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Education. In seeking other ways to impact the lives of his fellow citizens, Jason got into the financial services industry where he educates his clients about future and fiscal planning so that they are able to meet their life-long goal of financial stability. In his field, Jason has had the opportunity to provide guidance and counsel to many teachers at every stage in their careers.

As a passionate educator, mentor, and servant leader, Jason is always seeking to serve others for the sole purpose of positively impacting the community to which he is vested. These traits have been demonstrated through his years of volunteerism and civic duty. Jason has volunteered, and mentored at-risk youths in the local district through a program known as: H.O.S.T.S. (Helping Students To Succeed). For over the past ten years Jason has volunteered weekly at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, making patients and their loved ones comfortable during their treatment and stay. In FBISD, Jason has demonstrated his commitment to volunteerism and civic duty by serving on the District's Steering Committee, as well as the Ridgemont Elementary and Early Childhood Center Campus Based-Leadership Team. He currently serves as vice-president of the board of trustees and is enrolled in the class of 2017 Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Leadership Forum.

In the race for FBISD Position 4 Trustee Kristin Tassin is being challenged by Rodrigo Carreon and Shirley Rose Gilliam for her seat on the Fort Bend Independent School Board.

Kristin Tassin was elected to Position 4 in 2014. She has lived in Missouri City for 17 years. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantitative Business Analysis (Computer Science option). She also earned her Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University Law School. She is currently employed as an attorney at Dry & Tassin and is Co-Founder/Director of the charitable organization, Father's Joy. Kristin is a member of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, Houston Young Lawyers Association and the Exchange Club of Sugar Land. In 2011, she was named a Texas Rising Star by Texas Super Lawyers magazine.

Kristin was founding PTO president at Heritage Rose Elementary and has served in that position for three consecutive years. She also served as head of fundraising for three consecutive years, as well as on the Campus-Based Leadership Team and numerous other PTO leadership positions. She is a member of the FBISD Parent Advisory Council, member of the FBISD Steering Committee for Facilities Planning and is a Mentor Program volunteer.

In the race for FBISD Position 5 Trustee KP George is being challenged by Lorena Dueñas for his seat on the Fort Bend Independent School Board.

KP George was elected to Position 5 in 2014. He grew up in a tiny village in South India. He began his education learning the local language as he walked barefoot to get to school. As he did his homework in his straw hut by the light of a kerosene lamp and helped his parents farm before and after school, KP dreamed of achieving his greatest goal: coming to the land of opportunity and living the American Dream.

His hard work propelled him out of the poverty of his hometown. He arrived in the U.S. in 1993 to work for a financial firm, and has since earned multiple financial certifications and licenses. KP is currently self-employed as a Board Certified Financial Planner and owns and manages an independent financial planning practice with six other advisors.

Since 1999, KP and his wife Sheeba (an FBISD educator) have raised their three children in Sugar Land. One of his children is a recent graduate, and two are currently attending Fort Bend ISD schools.

KP took the lead in establishing the Hightower High School Academies’ Booster Club in 2013 and served as its first president. He has also served local Indo-American groups, the Sugar Land Rotary Club, and the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the FBISD Parents Advisory Team and State Elections Policy & Affairs Team for State Representative Rick Miller.

KP George is very thankful that God has given him the opportunity to live The Dream. Now, he wants to ensure that our children have the necessary tools to achieve their DREAMS, because they are our future.
